Been trying find some tips on this but if an assault class with the thunderhammer gets on you is there anyway to escape his heavy attacks or the groundpound? as a bulwark my main threat is the assault groundpound and i can never escape
@@DirtyDan95 I don't play much bulwark in PVP, so all I can give you is what I've noticed good bulwarks do against me. Avoiding ground pound is hard against a skilled assault. Try to roll unpredictably. The assault is trying to lead you (pound where you will be 1s from now), so if you change direction while they are prepping the pound, they may miss. Best case, you call attention to them (d-pad Up button) and several players shoot them out of the sky. If the assault has multiple jump pack charges and it's you and them alone, a good assault can just about 100% kill the bulwark (in my experience). You can toss a shock grenade and try to make the assault land on it, but that's pretty hard. Avoiding the charge attack is a little easier: never, ever engage an assault in melee unless you can finish them in 1 swing. The charged aftershock move takes about 1s to fully charge (in pvp) and if the upswing connects, you're heavy staggered, lose 2/3 of your life, and the downswing will 100% connect and do another 2/3 of your life (it's a death combo). You can block the regular swing and the dash pommel strike. If you block those, you can roll away from the charged overhead slam. All in all, assault vs bulwark is a tough match for the bulwark if the assault class player knows what they're doing. If you have other players nearby providing firing support for you, it's a lot better odds for the bulwark.
@@petemcthompson4489 greatly appreciate the help, figured my only chance against them was to just roll away as best I could. Really wish they would add a more skill based melee system where you can maybe get more parry’s that actually give you a stronger attack right after that would make melee PvP more about skill timing and trading swings and less about just who has the highest damage weapon
We'll see what any balance changes may bring in the future, but for now I'd just suggest looking up at the sky more when you have opponent Assault classes (especially if they're top of the opponent leader board), don't rush anywhere alone, and don't try to engage them with melee. You'll get smoked as a bulwark against a competent assault player if it's 1 vs. 1.

I've got other videos with far better K/D, but this is my top kill count in a single match. The other team was strong and we still lost the match.
