Yup! As someone who has suffered from DVTs/PEs as a relatively young woman, it's so important to stay hydrated/keep moving while flying in order to stay safe
Ok 1st- I also embraced my jeans tummy roll today!! 2nd- I LOVE space. I used to want to work for NASA until I realised I am totally not smart enough lol. Astrophysics is the only science I actually understand because I love it so much. When I think about how beautiful it all is a get a *tad* emotional... bit weird I know. 3rd- Thats a lovey throw you’ve got there, Carrie... 😉😂 x
AreYouFamousYet? Ahahah thank you. However I always excelled in languages and more creative subjects, I think it’s more about my ability in science-y and maths subjects (or lack there of) as opposed to my teachers 😂
Oh Carrie, people have said I remind them of you in my last vlogs and it’s the best compliment I’ve ever gotten!! 🙉 I just finished my run of the Addams Family and vlogged all of it and this comment just makes me so proud 😭💛🥰
“Memories aren't stored in the heart or the head or even the soul, if you ask me, but in the spaces between any given two people.” ― Jodi Picoult, Vanishing Acts
Ur videos are a breather and a “stop crying, ur fine” for me. A breath of fresh air from exams and like a little chat with a funny big sister. Ily Carrie 💕
For my Masters research project I wrote 20,000 words on the space age and its place in society. The conclusion I came to was that although space travel has its origins in military aggression, the fact it became so popular (and remains so popular) on a global scale meant that with the exception of the first few years, space travel has always been about peace, scientific endeavour, and co-operation. Which, in the turbulent context of the Cold War, is pretty impressive! Space is so cool!
I'm a 1st year physics student at uni and I want to specialise in astrophysics and cosmology because I think the universe is awesome and I want to learn more about it. I always use the mnemonic: My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto
i love it when you talk about your runs. i’ve been running because of you and it’s so nice to hear someone speak honestly about it. it helps me to hear about your bad runs because it reminds me that bad runs are just bad runs and i shouldn’t stop running because it’s difficult in the beginning💓💓
We went to Florida in 1981 (I was 3) with the intention of watching a rocket launch, but there was an accident and we watched it on TV instead 😕 watching them has always been a very emotional thing for me, the fact that people are up there experimenting and making discoveries is bloody amazing
My dad when he was little used to live in Florida for a bit and used to watch them launch shuttles all the time!! He always tells stories about him sitting on a hill watching them go into space and I always thought it was the coolest thing ever. He also got to watch Neil Armstrong’s steps on the moon when it was on Tv 😊
The set up of this video is so relaxing. Your voice is so calming. Loved this video - and hope your feet aren't too swollen for long. Don't want May to end! ❤
SavedBySwift I always remembered it as: My Very Excellent Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas, but after they demoted Pluto, I changed it to My Very Exhausted Mother Just Sent Us Nothing 😉
Hope your ankles get better quickly! You're going to smash it on Monday!! The shuttle lauch sounds flippin epic, might go and watch that now! Man, I wish I had my A Level Geography notes with me rn, I remember we learnt something about how the first photo of the whole Earth kind of kicked of the "shrinking world" idea, or something like that (would know if I had my notes haha!)
I am so envious of watching that shuttle launch! My dad is also obsessed with space, he wasn't allowed to stay up and watch the moon landing, but he watched countless documentaries on the various Apollo missions, it's my dream to one day take him to NASA.
I get the same problem when I fly, I know how painful it can be especially on a long flight. It is strange that it only happens to you on the return flight though. The only tips I can give is to try and keep your ankles elevated until the swelling goes down, best to do it while you sleep. I don't know why it happens but its something to do with a buildup of fluid in the ankles from the pressure. Hope this helps x
Carrie: I also have a fitting for Fantine today Me: *bursts into tears because I was literally told 5 hours ago that I would be playing Fantine in my school production of Les Mis* Thank you for inspiring me, Carrie💜
Oh how did you find it? I did astrophysics but hated the computer programming segments... also a second year waves and vibrations module about which I still have nightmares!
@@saraho92 I still can't code to save my life. But I loved cosmology and stellar evolution and did my dissertation on a rare type of galaxy and I loved that. Staying on for a masters so we will just have to wait and see how that goes...
I started watching your videos because of the covers you have done, maybe it was when you did something with the vamps. But I watch your videos now because you make me want to be a better person. Thanks for being positive.
Hi Carrie! In case you didn't know, there's a new series on BBC 2 on Tuesdays all about the planets with Brian Cox! I think you would love it; it looks really interesting.
Yay! It makes me so happy to know you love space! I'm literally in the middle of taking my final exams for my third year of my Astrophysics degree at Liverpool, and I am MENTAL about space ⭐🌟🔭🌠if you want a bit of a giggle while learning something new and cool, look up Fast Radio Bursts 📡 (which are amazingly powerful, mysterious signals that we dont really know much about) and Perytons, which were similar signals, but not what they thought..... i personally find it hilarious so i hope you do too! I hope your ankle goes down btw xxx
I think it's fascinating that kids are all tiny scientists. It's a shame that most of us loose that as we grow up. I was a dinasour kid, desperately wanted to be an archaeologist!
When I was little (like 6-ish) I thought, for some reason, that NASA stood for "Neil Armstrong's Space Adventures." No clue why. I emailed NASA when I was 18 to tell them and I actually got a reply from Bob Jacobs himself! Sadly it was the year after Neil Armstrong died, but Bob told me he would have smiled at that ^_^ He even put it on his Twitter!
In German we have this thing - apparently it's called a mnemonic, we call it a donkey bridge - "Mein Vater erklärt mir jeden Samstag unsere neun Planeten". It means "my father explains to me every saturday our nine planets" and the words begin with the same letters as the planets (ommiting the sun).
We have a startlingly similar one in English! "My very expert mother just showed us nine planets" Languages are cool, I like that we both have a very similar mnemonic for the planets
Have you got the ISS app? I watch the international space station fly over most nights. If you're surrounded by darkness, it is an amazing sight along with all the stars. Currently looking into my first tattoo and considering a space/constellation. Orion and the big dipper are my favourite 💖
I’d love you to read a book called ‘it’s not rocket science!’ By Brian cox , it’s so so sooo good , like it talks about space whilst linking it to life’s philosophies and I reckon you’d like it ❤️
So a second Carrie thought you were going to start singing Monty Python Galaxy song, also a great reminder of the wonder that is humanity... sort of :) ... also might help to put your feet in cool water to help them come back down to size :)
So idk if you be able to participate but my friend on bookstagram @spacetoread amd I (@libraries.in.the.inside) will be hosting a reading event during july for the apollo 11 anniversary, you pretty much get to choose a space book to read in july and post that book with a hashtag that shes choosing and pretty much just share your space book with other space and book nerds!! Its going to be fun!!
But can we talk about how space is super scary too lol 😅 Neil Degrassi Tyson did a phenomenal job with the Cosmos documentary that was on Netflix. If you looooOoooooooooOove space you should absolutely check it it out.
Weren't you told not to run due to problems with your feet and now you're surprised you have problems with your feet when ignoring the medical advice given to you - not to run.
