Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity.
However, byond is old as an engine, is limited in its own ways, and largely prevented a number of people from joining in. And thus, there was Space Station 14 - which is free and on steam! This open source monster replicates the madness and is the early version of what promises to be many decades of stupid just like its sire.
Join me in Space Station 14 friends. Be farty spacemen.

Oh man, one of the first times I was playing on Frontier, and I go to Engineering to get my tank refilled. Dumbass takes my O2 tank and fills it with AIR Mix, so later I'm wondering why I'm nearly dying of asphyxiation out in the void only to scan the tank and find it's not pure Oxygen, it's AIR, so of course I'm suffocating at only 21 kPa because the Oxygen Partial Pressure is like 4 kPa! And this idiot, who obviously never learned proper Atmo, is wondering WHY I was so pissed off about it!

I love the fact that while everyone has the sane idea to wait for rescue in the cargo shuttle, Chex has comandeered it to go glass the singularity. Never change, Tex.

As if botany would ever question or refuse an exotic seed crate. When cargo brings me that and says "I brought what you ordered" its because he knows I was going to ask for it, and I know he knows I was going to ask for it, and him bringing it to me at the start of the shift saves the innefficiency of having to ask, and we all love an efficient station. Its like when the chemist just walks up to botany with 2 droppers and a bucket of glowing green stuff. Its because he knows that if he doesn't, I'm gonna go over there, constantly ring the bell and spam the scream emote until he does.

1. The thing that shot lightning was an electric anomaly gone critical, not the singulo. Although they do that even when not critical, but without the EMP and light breaking effect and without dealing bazillion of damage (damage scales based on their danger level tho, so at high level they do still deal a lot). However, just recently, tesla power was introduced. So as of now, it's either the electric anomaly gone crit or at an high danger level, or worse yet, a teslaloose. Either way, you are in big trouble if and when you see lightning. Insulated gloves protect from low level current, but afaik, they won't stop the big ones of a crit electrical anomaly and those of a teslaloose. 2. You may want to give the artifacts to science rather than immediately sell them. The more they research one, the more their value goes up. 3. Don't sell the crates. They are worth almost nothing, and you will be wasting a lot of time for nothing. Just deconstruct them with a screwdiver, and you will get the materials they are made out of (usually 5 steel or plastic, and the lockable ones also have 2 LV wire). And if you ever need a crate, you can quickly make one with just 5 steel or plastic (including secure lockable crates).

I’ve played very few SS14 rounds. Here are my favorite moments: 3rd round, still learning controls. I got mauled by a slime and borged. I feel bad for science, I couldn’t do anything. I watched a group of nukies go fully yarhar and turn into pirates, complete with barraging the station with the chinalake and everything. The admin then put us in an actual pirate round, which went horribly for the pirates.

as an SS14 enjoyer. my rounds (that i actually join in are as follows) Be captain: tell Engineering not to tesloose, run around the station, usually fuck around with Securities fun toys (tranq shotguns ahoy) try to look cute as fuck. because hop doesnt have a monopoly on drip. hear "TESLOOSE REAL" 30 minutes later. and fucking Evaporate into nothing because unrobust engineering or: Be Chief engineer be competent. Show up to bridge 8 times cause a greytider rerouted disposals to try to steal shit in the bridge. say "dont do singulo" but watch engis do singulo anyways pull a "this aint my problem anymore" and redecorate Medical (because origin has shit med, like the rest of the map) and proceed to hear massive amounts of "SINGULOOSE REAL"
