Andrew is such a gift to the Warhammer tabletop community. Dude is the single best sport in the history of good sportsmen. Such positive attitude and great sense of humor. We need more Andrew episodes!!
44 minutes. Heroic intervention happens at the end of the charge phase, so that squad shouldn't have suddenly had a shorter charge thanks to the lord moving closer.
At 43:45 you only made the charge because of improper sequencing. Heroic Intervention is once the enemy has completed all their charge moves. Not so it's convenient for the enemy. Pg.182 So it was sloppy. And still incorrect
Elijah Lakusta yeah this was so sad to see. Its not like they were fudging the rules to make it more exciting. It was just salt in the wound at that point.
Okay, while I wholeheartedly agree with what people are saying about the guy, this comment isn't complimenting him. Warhammer's community seems to be overwhelmingly positive. Nobody is just a jerk, or insults his laugh. They just say he had an infectious laugh and they compliment it. Makes me proud to be a part of this, and I'm proud of you guys.
Gotta say, I’m usually not a fan of Luca bat reps...but this one was good. He just seemed more comfortable in front of and behind the camera and seemed to just have a better time playing. Also this giant man walks in with his big, deep voice...and his little mouse laugh 😂
ERRATA Page 178 - Re-rolls Change this paragraph to read: ‘Some rules allow you to re-roll a dice roll, which means you get to roll some or all of the dice again. If a rule allows you to re-roll a result that was made by adding several dice together (e.g. 2D6, 3D6, etc.) then, unless otherwise stated, you must roll all of those dice again. You can never re-roll a dice more than once, and re-rolls happen before modifiers (if any) are applied.’ Heroic interventions happens after "ALL" charges are completed. That one unit was not allowed.
This was one of the most beautiful armies going down in turn one. Mental note: Never deploy closer than 30" from Wulfen when they have a good chance of getting the first turn. As a Tau-Player, this should be possible.
As a space wolf player I think you did pretty well with an unfamiliar army. I recommend though, on your grey hunters to put a wolfguarf pack leader in each unit. You can give him a stormshield and a combi plasma which is really useful. Also, long fangs are leadership 8, so you'd have only lost 1 guy. Lastly, I'd recommend a storm wolf over a LR crusader, it has better dakka, the same capacity, it flies and it's a lot cheaper. Overall though Luka, great batrep! Please do more space wolves as they rarely feature on MWG at the moment.
James Lewis I think for this list it would be unnecessary. I tend to play my GH as a 10 man unit with 2 plasma guns, grey hunter sargent with power fist and wolf guard pack leader with a shield and a frost sword all packed in a rhino. They tend to suck up a lot of points but the punch they pack, being capable of dealing with light/heavy infantry, usually makes up for it, however I've found the storm shield pack leader to either save the day and make all the saves or get destroyed in the first roll, kinda sucks spending so much on a 1 wound model haha
I like the Necron bloke. He plays positively and has a great laugh and attitude. It's good to see the Wolves taking names a lot more in 8th. I'm also proud to say the SW's have a nasty but balanced army. At the end of the day, I hope the SW's Codex is just as refreshing as their reincarnation in 8th has generally been. Some characters like Ragnar need a little more love, but otherwise, I just like the vibe the SW's create for players and opponents. Indeed, I hope they are as cool as Ork's and Nids, I think what's gone on for the latter two has been great in general.
The one thing thats always bugged me about necrons, is that the warriors have giant axe bayonets on their guns, but don't get any actual melee advantage for having them
IIRC, this is a Codex vs non-codex battle, since the Necron codex isn't out yet. That being the case, I'm not surprised the space marines won. Pre-codex, the Necrons need more cryptechs and no monolith, since the monolith sucks ATM. It REALLY sucks. Also, wouldn't that unit of Immortals @ ~50:00 autopass morale because they're near an HQ unit, or is my memory bad? That, and Luka's chosing to practically IGNORE the scour the skies objective... shouldn't he have targeted the destroyers? I thought they were fly-keyword. Shout out to the way that wolfen w/stormshield just nopenopenopenopenopenopenopeNOPE'd all those shots. He deserves instant field promotion to Champion. That was hillarious and astoundingly valiant.
Nope, both are Index armies currently, SW has yet to come out as well. Necrons do not gain Ld from HQs unless you take the Standard BRB Warlord trait that adds +1 to Ld
Space Wolves are not included in the main space marines codex, so it would be an index vs index battle. Also, just looking at the space wolves (still watching as I type) it's no wonder that they won, getting a first turn charge with wulfen is just brutal
I sit corrected. I must be confusing the autopass morale with 7th Ed Necrons or maybe the 'nids. Surprised the SW don't have their codex yet though. Eh! Maybe they'll throw Leman in, rather than wait for a campaign supplement like they seem to be doing with Lion'el Jonson.
You guys are awesome, it was great fun to watch even though Andrew had a tough 1st Turn. You guys should do a rematch. I am sure it will go down very well. Great armies too.
46:12 can't pile into the deathmarks if you are already at base contact with the monolith, you can only move towards the nearest enemy model and you are at base.
The Portal of Exile in the Index does not effect Monsters or Vehicles. So unless it changed in the codex the Dreadnaught shouldn't have been hurt on the charge.
Hey there, i am a long time Australian fan, just here just to say that this is another fantastic Vid guys! Really love watching your Bat Reps. Can you please do a Custodes report using the current codex though?? Would love to see your thoughts on the new models and see how they play out. Cheers guys :)
Honestly i like the effor of these videos and apparent sportmanship and good humour and lovely painted figures. One minus tho is that really you guys should shake dices more xD those throws at 12:00-13:34 were honestly not random at all if you dont even shake em xD if u pick dice and just pour it on 4 faces you eliminate 2 possible results of dice and can do some shady business.
shanethepain13 the best thing to do against this guys is playing tyranids and spamming mortal wounds or mass fire whenever you can, but that definitely isn't anything I like doing. On the other hand, seeing 20 wulfen with many storm shields on the table isn't anything I like either, so... xD
Just wondering why, at around 11:30, Luka doesn't roll the armor saves for the four 6s. The mortal wounds are in addition to the regular wounds from the weapon. Fairly certain that regardless of order of operations with mortal wounds, you still have to assign the regular wounds to a model and make a save. Please feel free to correct me, I'm a noob!
You are correct. The Deathmark Snipers do a mortal wound in addition to the normal wound, so Luka was supposed to take the mortal wounds and then still make a save for the normal wound from those rolls.
Okay one question: if FW has put out rules for Necron dynasties does anyone know if they've done space marine chapters too?? I play Minotaurs and I'm wondering when I'm gonna get rules... :P
So watching this video I noticed some different rule interactions. My question is, are you 100% on all of your rulings? (if so me and my friends have been playing so wrong lol)
Necrons just aren't as survivable as they used to be and they don't have the punch in combat so once the enemy close that' s it. They just roll on through everything.
So, the Necron player certainly is one of the more entertaining players to come in recently, but I do get the laugh getting a little annoying over the 2 or 3 hours they played to make this video. Still, a great game! keep on keeping on Laughing Man
Nice match! May I ask a question? the rules say that the pile in can only be made to finish closer to the *nearest* enemy model, It's seams that you are just moving to another miniature in another unit but is not the closest enemy model, am I missing something? Cheers.
😃with the first turn wulfen charge. Should the wulfen at the back that was in range of Ulric's ability piled in too that would have taken him out of range of Ulric
I'm a 40k novice so go easy but can someone explain the long fangs both fleeing from the failed morale test? Leadership 8. Three dead, roll of 6 so 9. Would that not only be 1 fleeing?
Jim MacLachlan don't have the index imperium 1 on my hand, but he previously killed the Sergent (in the shooting phase because is the only one without a heavy weapon in a shooting only unit) in the squad, which is usually +1 attack and +1 leadership. So, a standard marine should be leadership 7. A 6 + 3 dead is 9, so 2 more than the highest leadership in the unit (of 7).
18:06 you can't pile into those 2 units the way you did them. If you pile in it has to be towards the nearest enemy model, you can't just rotate and pile them into another unit if they are already at base or closer then the unit. What you would have to do is move them away from the unit you charged on the charge, so that way when you pile in, you can pile into the other unit. You can't do it the way you did it.
23:30 wait why did you attack with the Wulfen again? You charged with them? You don't get to fight with them again. And if you originally split up your attacks you do it all at once, you don't do x on this unit, then let the opponent fight, then do x with your other units? Thats not the way it works. If you are in a fight with 3 units, you resolve all your attacks against all units. If you are doing this for the additional +1 attack, again you do this when you charge. You don't get to fight twice....
16:42 if you use a command point on a charge you have to reroll both dice. Anytime you roll multiple dice to equal a result, when you use a command point you have to reroll both. Just like if I shot a wyvern thats 4d6, I cant just reroll one of the, I have to reroll all. Same with charges. Per FaQ. Charges, pysker tests, etc.
you get out of a transport before it moves, or is this a specific rule for the space wolves? Otherwise the wolf lord wouldn't be able to get out after the Landraider moved to give the rerolls.
Invulns shouldn’t ever be better than 4+. I sadly lost to tyranids as Necrons simply because the zoanthropes didn’t fail any 3++ and dealt D6 (essentially) mortals each turn. Mortals don’t fit in 40k or are far too common. It feels weird that AoS matches is currently more balanced for play. A few mortals don’t do much but weaken units or HQs, and armies don’t fall apart at the loss of certain units. But in 40k they’re quite aggressive. Also that 3++ Storm shield in that squad is cheesy. Just like the jump pack and terminator in the deathwatch. Maybe it won’t be too bad once the necron codex comes out, but right now they don’t have much for playing in the ruleset of 8th. :/
One thing i have also noticed is you guys only reroll cocked dice if it would be a fail, if it would be a pass you guys let it through? Should always reroll cocked dice. There was a lot in this game.
