Brutal episode for Carl. Shows that he definitely has a co-dependent relationship with the food monsters despite how much he pretends to hate them. Guys like Carl feed on attention (good or bad), and the moment they don't get some sort of validation they self destruct. It's interesting how Carl hates Shake way more than the rest of the gang despite how similar they are deep down.
In this episode, we finally get a rare look into Carl's life...and it's quite sad. Based on his yearbook, he peaked in high school and has clearly not handled it well. But most importantly, we see how lonely he is: Calling past flings/crushes, calling sex lines, practically begging the delivery guy to hang out, and even keeping Meatwad's dolls nearby and talking to them like they're actual visitors. This could be why he tolerates Frylock and Meatwad, as they're annoying but treat him with some level of decency (probably the most he gets in his adult life), even feeling bad when something happens to them in other episodes. If he wasn't such a jackass (and probably smell like wicked BO and urine), you'd just want to give the poor guy a hug.

My first job was pizza delivery. We had a special for a few months 2 large 1 topping for 14.97 after tax. I cannot count the number of people who gave me 3 5's and told me to "keep the change." It got so bad that I kept 3 pennies taped together in my pocket so I could get at them quick and say, "oh no no, you keep it. You must need it much more than I do."

That entire beginning segment gets me everytime, love the sarcastic but indifferent tone carl's voice becomes like he just accepts the nonsense at this point.
This Ep in a lot of ways mirrors the Ep "THE" which was the Ep that explored the idea of Frylock living on his own away from Carl, Meatwad and Shake. We learn that despite being the socially outgoing and intellectual type, humans are still weirded out with the idea of a box of floating talking fries wanting to be anywhere near them. This is interesting development because it explains why Shake acts like an asshole to everyone around him because even if he were as outgoing as Frylock, humans, deservingly hate the Aqua Teens solely for their hideous appearances and the chaos they bring to the Jersey area There was an Ep where Carl tells Frylock "You and your roomates are the reason why the Police dont come over here anymore." Its like Frylock needing to accept he cant have a normal life despite desperately wanting one. The moment he gets that he'll happily leave Meatwad and Shake behind but the sad fact is its not possible.
@KnightofFunnyJunk Indeed, an accurate analysis but I want to point out two things: 1. Shake is an asshole because he's a pathological narcissist with sociopathic traits whom is also very unintelligent. Despite frylocks eye beams and intellect, Shake is probably the most dangerous member of athf due to his malicious intent and lack of remorse or empathy. 2. Carl essentially belongs with them, as a small closed community because he is also an outcast.
Zoomers of today can use this as a document for how Gen X'rs used things like a phone landline, VCR's, Robots, an Analog Portal to a dimension where entertaining beings rip the skin off of Carl, etc... Many things they take for granted today.

This episode on some sites is like completely muted aside from background music, sound effects and some phone talk. Its super creepy and ominous lol, i didnt get what the writers were thinking before i realised that wasnt just how they made the episodes
Its funny watching this Ep and then watching the Ep "Total ReCarl" and seeing how radically different Carl's personality changes when he finally gets his wish In Total ReCarl, Carl just wants to be left alone to die. He mentally accepts he will never find peace living with the Aqua Teens In this Ep, the moment the Aqua Teens go away, Carl then learns that despite how the Aqua Teens routinely ruin his life, Carl can do just as bad to his own life as they can so universally there is no outcome where Carl can ever be happy,. Even when they experiment with the idea of Macula introducing new neighbors in the old Aqua Teen house, the chaos remains the same Carl is right. There are many reasons why the police do not come to this part of town anymore.
