Another favourite vehicle. And it confirms that Spacehawk is the biggest of all Anderson hero vehicles.

What an excellent second series of Tech Talk this has been! And the teaser trailer for Series 3 already sounds amazing. Well done everyone involved in the production of these talks. Thank you.

Series 2 was amazing. You learn so much infomation about these Century 21 crafts & their placement in the whole Anderverse. The teaser at the end makes you want to see Series 3 more, judging by some of the crafts hinted at.

I was amused at the mention of 'Adlamite': a nod to the creator of 'Dick Spanner', Terry Adlam. Also, the cheeky use of 'Dilithium', a component of Starfleet Warp Drives, in Star Trek. There have been quite a few of these sort of 'Easter Eggs' in this series. Good work. I enjoyed every one of this series, and I'm sure Jon Culshaw had a blast playing Ed Straker. Nice one.

Dilithium was actually a reference to the earlier Fireball XL5 :)

The Spacehawk is a nice design. I also like the Treehawk.

Judging by the episodes they must have had more than one Treehawk as you sometimes saw other personnel shuttled up to Spacehawk when Hiro was already on board. I need answers Commander Straker!

Series 3 of these debriefings will be... interesting. In many ways, International Rescue and SHADO are like, I don't know Superman and the Punisher. Jeff Tracy and his family were all about protecting the general public to the best of their ability with only occasionally having to throw down with criminals, hostile countries, and the like, while Straker and SHADO took a by any means necessary approach to a secret war. Some of their episodes even had a complication regarding collateral damage ("Exposed") and allowing tragedies to happen in order to either prioritize the war r keep things on the hush-hush ("Question of Priorities", "Square Triangle")
@brianartillery

International Rescue weren't toothless - if you watch the movie 'Thunderbird 6', their answer to a possible trap is a bit of an eye-opener, if you were not expecting it.

Highly unlikely as, much like Gabriel from The Secret Service, it's a standard vintage vehicle with no 21st Century Tech to discuss. As Jeff Tracy said in another vidro, the boys consider The Mole to be the real TB6

Just a thought: as Spacehawk can reach any planet in the Solar System, can it reach any other planet outside our Solar System (i.e. travel to other galaxies)?

i look forward to Series 3; while some of these technical aspects are outright goofy by current understandings, what Anderson thought to include is fascinating, nonetheless. i do hope Series 3 will address the oversight of the Databank having begun recording before being instructed to do so.
@ACtheLegend
@ACtheLegend 3 года назад
It's not an oversight, it's artistic licence.
@stephenspackman5573
@stephenspackman5573 2 года назад
@@ACtheLegend It's not artistic license, it's a technical capability. There's a rolling buffer of a few seconds that's probably needed anyway to deal with extraneous noise overlapping commands (the “dank commence recording” case). On recognition of the command, the system searches backward in this short term memory for the start of the sentence and stores from there. You'll notice that modern cameras are able to do a related trick, recording a video that starts a few seconds before the button is pressed. Humans, similarly, do not usually forget when you say “remember this conversation”, even though, logically speaking, the instruction is not complete until its end.

I'm not sure how well the worlds of UFO sync with Terrahawks (I assume it's no accident that "Martian threat" is used instead "attacked by Zelda from Gak").

SpaceHawk going at 2.4 Million feet a second that's about 0.4AU a day. And for TreeHawk 3.6million feet a second that's about 0.6AU a day. The Spacehawk would be about 5km in length.
@ACtheLegend
@ACtheLegend 3 года назад
Why would the length of the vessel factor in its speed? If a car is moving at a foot per second, it has still travelled 1 foot in distance after a second even if it's 10 feet long.
@samon53

@@ACtheLegend The length has nothing to do with speed it's a completely separate measurement...
@ACtheLegend
@ACtheLegend 3 года назад
@@samon53 I know, that's why I was asking why you were saying it'd be 5K in length in the same paragraph as mentioning it's speed. It's 1.6K in length.
@stephenspackman5573
@stephenspackman5573 2 года назад
@@ACtheLegend Sadly the performance data are gibberish anyway-not merely because who uses megafeet? but because speed relative to what? and after doing what, and where? It's like talking about the maximum speed of a child at an amusement park-that roller coaster is not much constrained by how fast a kid can run.

It's the other way round actually.
@Mikanojo
@Mikanojo 3 года назад
@@dogwalker666 Star Trek first spoke of dilithium in 1966. And Marvel comics first mention of adamantium was in Avengers issue 66 from July of 1969 as part of Ultron's outer shell. The word is a pseudo-Latin coinage (real Latin: adamans, adamantem [accusative]) based on the English noun and adjective adamant (and the derived adverb adamantly). The Terrahawks were created in the 1980s, twenty YEARS later.

@@dogwalker666 At first you were falsely claiming that Star Trek and Marvel comics were borrowing from Terrahawks, and now you are trying to dismiss it, along with your first false claim, by saying that "all sci-fi" does it. So now instead of being wrong once you are wrong twice.
