If you've never seen it I recommend the 1995 "Tank Girl" starring Lori Petty (she liked one of my Tweets on Twitter!) with a young Naomi Watts, Ice-T and Malcolm McDowell. It's another dystopia where water is scarce, looks a lot like this. SPOILER: Tank Girl has a tank.

Bits and pieces of this film lived rent free in my mind for the past ~27 years, like a song stuck on repeat. Barry Bostwick with a headband, Henry Silva chewing up the scenery, flying motorcycles, missile launching dune buggies. And, if you want something truly WTF, try Inframan... If you've never seen it you must watch _Barbarella_ (1968). Based on a French comic series it stars Jane Fonda in the title role, supported by a cast of well-known European actors. It was produced by Dino de Laurentis, a highly prolific producer whose long career includes both classics, such as Fellini's _La Strada,_ and less highbrow fare, such as _Flash Gordon._ It was directed by Roger Vadim, Fonda's husband at the time. (In her autobiography she has little good to say about her marriage to Vadim, calling it an emotionally abusive relationship.)

For much of the time when I first saw this movie (I have no idea when this was) until the mid-2010s, I thought this movie was a fever dream. Still not convinced it is a real movie. I also point to Spacehunter as absolute proof God exists. This film was made because someone sold their soul to Satan and you can't have Satan without God. Trivia: Ernie Hudson was cast as Washington due to a resemblance to Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) who had just recently first appeared in the "Star Wars" film franchise in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.

Nope, there were no sequels, Jen. Spacehunter opened respectably, but quickly fell off after the first week of release and flopped, and the 3-D revival of the early 1980's died that same year. The only 3-D movie of the early 1980s 3-D era that was actually successful was Friday The 13th Part III, which was the only movie in 1982 that managed to knock E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial out of the #1 spot at the box office. lol You still have to watch that one.

Richard Elfman (Danny's bro) made it, and Oingo Boingo (Danny Elfman's old band) did the soundtrack. This really is an oddity. It is too bad to be a good movie, but far too good to be a bad movie. Even your review listed so much to like about it, but the forced cheesiness and low budget turned it over. With soundtrack by veteran Elmer Bernstien (nominated for Oscar 14 times!), how bad can it be?

Oh, HELL YEAH, my mom dropped me off at the mall to watch this hideous piece of trash! First 3D film I think I ever saw.
