What will the engagement ranges be like? Are you talking an expanse inspiration for this too? Will ships maneuver to avoid incoming long range munitions like those plasma balls we saw in the video?
I can't tell you how badly I want a space game like this... I have been playins sins of a solar empire with mods hoping that I could get something new and fresh.. after trying the sins 2 tech beta... i am not so sure about it.. but this looks great... I cant wait for something fresh like this.
Hi Frostsorrow! I share your thoughts on this. These kinds of games are so few and far between. This was an early preview but what I got to play was working much better than I would have expected and surprised me how well realistic movement of ships can be why the combat is still fun. I hope to bring you all more on this game soon.
love your content, have you tried the game Void Destroyer 2? their large ships have massive thrusters in the front of the ship to help with the maneuverability with physics.
Thank you very much for mentioning this, I will get this game instantly. It looks and sounds promising. I do not care much about graphics, especially to keep my phantasy do the rest.
@@eleven2435 It's been a few years since I read them, I think I stopped at the third one because I didn't want to spoil the TV show for myself. Should really go back to them now that the TV show is over.
Hi @InnerAtmos and thank you for the comment and sharing your impressions. You can see more here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KlMGjTjfC4I.html
I'll definitely keep an eye on this one. The campaign map is giving me a bit of a Sword of the Stars vibe, a game I never got good at but I enjoyed for what I could figure out. They had some absolutely terrifying events called Grand Menaces that they would sick on the galaxy, usually targeting the player with the most power. I came close to beating the Peacekeeper on low difficulty a couple times but I never fully managed it. So I wonder if they're going to go that direction, or more the Total War direction of like a threat from established factions like Realm Divide in Shogun 2. Honestly I'd kind of favor the SotS approach. Thanks for the coverage as always!
Hi, indeed we will see how the 4X part of the game will be developed further but if it's anything like the RTS elemenat it will be great. That you for the praise, glad you enjoyed it
I didn't know if I got my message at the last of the live stream but I hope Yrdvaad game becomes a true masterpiece and thank you for the live presentation Perafilozof 👍😀
I know, and it is, having played both. This is a simulation but not as deep and detail as the one in Nebulous as you are not a captain of several ships at once but an admiral in charge of a fleet.
I'll never understand why people obsessed with formations. Its always clunky and impossible to use in fast situations. Whatever impact it has on the gameplay is often overshadowed by the scale of conflicts and larger game-systems. And it always looks weird in games. Expanse showed us their vision for realistic space battles - big distances, bigger speeds and absolute lethality if every round. No Claw or X formations. Only for missiles. Here? Gameplay looks weird and a bit silly. Ships are shooting point-blank with giant lasers. Its cool and I like it in games, but what realism are we talking here? =) How formations are impacting it? Should they? Will player have enough time to use them without pausing? I'm ranting obviously, since there is evidently more than enough people that approve that sort of things.
Hello PapaKarloHimSelf and thank you for the comment. I know not everyone can like the same type of gameplay. As for the "realism" it is the realism of space movement and flying that is from The Expanse. While the combat is from Homeworld and some others mixed in. There is a fine line between making a game realistic and fun. Tilt to one side too much and you lose an important aspect of it. And in the end all games much sacrifice some realism in order to be fun. Here weapons get lower range, there will be missiles, but they too won't have The Expense level range.
may I ask a few questions?are there crews that can be wounded or killed? can you destroy individual modules of the ships? is the graphic final? I like everything very much. Thanks
Hi, of course, I will do my best to best to answer. 1. No, no ship crews right now. Possibly later. 2. Same thing with the modules. 3. No graphics are being worked on constantly. I am glad you like the game. You can see more here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KlMGjTjfC4I.html
So something I feel is that the formations might be a bit tighter than my preference, the ships look very close together which might run the risk of facing multiple casualties from a nuke or debris field. the engagement speeds also feel a bit slow, is there a set speed limit ships can go? or could you do interplanetary jousting style combat. regardless, im looking forward to this, im excited to see missile+Point defense gameplay
Also something im curious about is if there will be weaponized engines, like a torch-drive turning their engine towards the enemy and giving them nuclear death. And are we going to get fighters with rear facing weapons? it feels like it would make sense with the physics
The big ships definitely move more slowly as their engines are three times less powerful than the ones on small ships. I am glad this game has you exited and can't wait to show more.
It makes me happy to hear that! Make sure to keep track of the progress in the developer's discord channel and on my own channel for more videos about it. What are you playing right now?
@@perafilozof If you want to look at another cool scifi game I recently played through Cosmoteer (also early access) which is pretty interesting ship-build-fight game. Otherwise Nebulous is also a great game that I found recently in that general direction of sci-fi ship combat. Cool vid too btw!
@@TheSubso those are great recommendations. I actually made a huge video on the lore and story of Nebulous if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t2GEU0K4zhk.html
The formations and coordination are amazing... until they run into the target like morons and start lasering their allies ;p Hopefully there will be much improvement in the individual AI before release xD Hope they'll have the lasers taper off too, instead of ending suddenly. Including Manual is awesome. Reminds me of Executive Assault, though the combat itself reminds me of Vendetta Online, where spent many exhilarating hours in realistic space dogfights💙
Hi, I am glad to see another interested gamer in this. There is a lot of work ahead for the developer, indeed. He is aware of the issues. You can see footage of the game and more combat here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KlMGjTjfC4I.html
Space 4X games have for decades been one of my fav genre. But the scope of such a game is so huge! One has the interstellar strategy, the tactical fleet battles and finally the planets. Most of my life a single game hasn't covered in depth all those, but we're finally getting there.
Hi, it's great to see another future fan and player ! Indeed it's all that, but there is more I haven't even been given access and the developer has even more on his "to make" list. So this is only the start and the potential is already huge! So I personally can't wait to show you all even more of Ephemeris in the future
@@perafilozof I hope modding support is one of them. Sorry to say but he can sink his whole life developing a game like this. Always something one could add.
I think it's too early to talk about modding. But I am sure he will consider it as there will be lots of room for possible mods with this kind of a game.
4:36 Well, they could allways use designs such as the Stiletto class from Nexus: The Jupiter incident (another space RTS with realistic physics) , with big front thrusters that allow to slow down without the need of changing the orientation.
Hi Igor, that is an excellent example, I forget about that game sometimes, thank you for reminding me. I would think it's a close comparison but it might not be close enough as the capital ships, at least in my memory, moved really slowly in that game. Am I remembering it wrong?
@@perafilozof Its been a while since I tried it myself and never went too far on hte campaign. But yes, I think it was indeed slower and I also think it involved combat at bigger distances. Still, all the designs I saw were superb and accounted for front facing thrusters. The Stiletto also had a rotating part a la Babylon 5 Omega class for artificial gravity. I may give it another chance after Homeworld 3. This one seems interesting, but I miss a story driven campaign.
@@igorokinamujika2073 Nexus is an absolute gem, great story and characters, superb gameplay, but it is quite hard. Especially if you use the wrong weapons and modules on your ships. My tactic was mass lasers and fighters targeting enemy weapons, then shields then engines. But it's a slow tactic.
Not sure what you mean by that? The range of engagement is too short for you? There are missiles they were just not in the game build I was able to showcase.
@@diego2817 I talked to the developer about that, currently the lasers fire for a very long time so there is definitely tweaking required, but this was just a demo, so nothing is as final.
Hi, am I am aware this can be an issues. In this case it was a necessary step due to the fact how little online presence this game has and to give it more reach before actually posting it. I do this on average 1 in 200 videos. So I hope you won't mind?
