Great episode. Really excited to see the Starship developments. On Starliner, I would let Starliner return without crewe as a test and recover the Astronauts on the next Dragon run. Boeing have demonstrated that they’re consistently failing to hit performance targets so there is no basis for trusting their internal simulation data, big cultural change is needed at Boeing

Not sure I'd be willing to return in Starliner. Boeing has troubles for sure, but combine that with some GS-15 level turd interjecting his WANTS into the development, the scope creep just amplifies their problems. SpaceX is a perfect example of what can happen when you keep the USG out of your beezwax. Vote smart folks.

@EdwardRLyons
@EdwardRLyons Месяц назад
Returning Starliner empty and leaving Wilmore and Williams on the ISS would be a violation of operational standards, since these two astronauts would have no lifeboat capability to return to Earth in an emergency. They can't return in the Dragon currently docked to Station, since there are no seats in the capsule for them, their Starliner seats are not compatible with Dragon, and their Starliner IVA suits are not compatible with Dragon. Unfortunately, NASA have put themselves in a very difficult position, by relying on Boeing and sending Starliner to ISS once it was clear there were thruster issues once it had reached orbit after launch. *That* was the time when NASA should have made the executive decision to make an immediate emergency return, rather than pressing on to dock with the ISS. Now, they *have* to undock Starliner to allow the Crew 9 Dragon docking. So, either they risk Wilmore and Williams to reentry in a potentially unsafe vehicle, or they truly leave them stranded on ISS until such time as they can be catered for in a Dragon -- which will require Dragon seats and Dragon IVA suits for both of them. NASA truly has forgotten (again!) the corporate lessons they learned the hard way with the Challenger and Columbia disasters.

Whenever Elon does something that seems illogical, I think "Does he need this for Mars?" In this case, he needs to know what effect these rockets are going to have when landing on regolith of any sort. The data is extremely useful for landing and taking off from Mars without any infrastructure. Same with Hyperloop and boring tunnels for traffic; These ideas are silly for Earth and likely won't lead to anything useful here, but on Mars they are potentially very useful.

So much detail and great graphics and enthusiastic narration. As for the Raptor 3, what can I say that other commenters haven’t already said. It’s stupendous. I’ve said before that as a precision engineer (nowhere near on the same level of Spacex engineers), I am so envious. Imagine going to work there every day. Marcus, I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering (partly thanks to your channel) and I just sat down to do some study after work. You have now delayed my study period after I saw your weekly video dropped so thanks for that........ Much love from South Aus, keep up the amazing content :)

Wholly you know what Marcus! Just when you think this stuff must get repetitive, it delivers new wonders on cue. The new Raptor 3s look is another level. Star Trek like. Also the view of the underside of the ship as it moved down the road was unique. I think we really are moving to a new level of quality in terms of what SpaceX are producing and a new lever of material for you guys. keep doing what you’re doing and thanks.

might consider a seizure trigger warning for the flashing during the launches. Awesome vid as always

@@gregbailey45 one of the take offs has really quick albeit dim flashing lights. Not the end of the world but enough for me to look away

I'd love to see a video detailing the process of sending another vehicle up for a rescue.

Not much to it. Just use the Dragon Crew that is currently docked after another one is launched to serve a the emergency escape module for remaining crew. SpaceX has four crew dragons with a fifth coming online later this year for Crew10. One of them has been modified for Polaris Dawn’s spacewalk launching in the next month or so.

Would there space suits work in dragon or would they need some kind of adapter @@ReinReads
