We generally do, but with the tech issues, the hosts thought we had lost all rocket audio and started talking so it wouldn't be dead silent. They couldn't hear the launch audio. We do these shows with 1/10th the staff a normal production would have, which is how we're able to cover so much economically... but major hiccup on this one. - Das

If you find something better please let us know. I’ve watched plenty of others and been sorely disappointed by lack of moderators - quality of chat - fact that channel only relays SpaceX feed (have no feed or equipment or people of their own in the field) I personally dislike politics in chats, racism, and other such things. NSF keeps things focused on space exploration. They provide education and arcane facts regarding launches. And I challenge any channel to provide more experienced team members. Or devote donated money back to improving the channel. These folks aren’t into it for the money. It’s for the love. Hard not to talk over SpaceX announcements when announcements come in the middle of a commentators sentence. As soon as commentator realizes SpaceX is announcing they stop. Then they repeat SpaceX comment since they realize they inadvertently spoke over SpaceX. Again, find another channel that provides everything NSF does and maybe we can switch over. I’m not holding my breath

@DebraJean196
@DebraJean196 4 дня назад
Seems to me that commentators were talking and SpaceX callouts interrupted their sentences. Might want to relisten. Commentator immediately stops, then repeats SpaceX announcements because they know folks couldn’t follow what SpaceX said over their sentence. Commentator doesn’t have a clue when SpaceX will be making an announcement, and I’d rather hear their info rather that an hour of silence just in case the total 30 seconds of SpaceX comments might come in on top of NSF commentary.

@DebraJean196 4 дня назад
Bandwidth was probably in short supply because a lot of people were broadcasting this launch. Much more than a “standard Starlink launch”. Likewise if no bandwidth can’t upload replays either. Watch the channel over the next couple of days when the guys and gals in the field can get clear bandwidth again to upload their recorded video. Doubt anyone live got much better live transmission

I saw this launch with my family at Space View Park in Titusville, FL. It was a great experience for me and my kids. Interestingly, from 12 miles away, the sound of the rocket launch was not as loud as we expected. Also, 2 sonic booms from the boosters were after they landed, probably because of the distance from the location. We watched your broadcast before and during the launch. Thank you for the great job you did at NASASpaceflight with the camera work, commentary, technical descriptions, and historical data.

Fun fact: GOES-U has 2 motors on the solar array. One spins once per day to track the sun in geostationary orbit, about 0.0007 RPM. The other follows the sun above and below the equator once per year, at most 0.0000008 RPM!

Guys... I know you've done a "major debrief" about the audio and the un-muted mics, but seriously, this isn't the first time you've talked over the launch audio when you've said you wouldn't. It's the same as the stream start times - as a member I'm watching the behind the scenes stream and wondering why half the stuff the team are doing hasn't been done already to achieve the stream start time. Watching the comments observing you're late starting each and every stream is cringe. All of which is a shame because these things aside you guys ROCK. I'd watch your streams over Tim's every time nowadays (he seems less engaged with his audience for some reason), but these little things kind of put a bit of a sour taste in the mouth y'know...

Amazing that something that was considered near impossible has now been accomplished over 300 times. Also shocking that after 300+ landings almost no other providers plan to recover the first stage. I wonder what the monetary difference is between reuse and expendable now that we have a lot of stage 1s with over 10 reuses.
@DebraJean196
@DebraJean196 4 дня назад
Other launch providers are working frantically to develop reusable rockets. Do some research if you are interested. I think Rocket Lab is one. Of course I’m drawing a blank now that I want to list them lol, but if you watch other company’s launches you can learn more about their future plans. NSF gives great coverage of SpaceX, but other companies use their own social networks to discuss their future plans. Especially companies based in other companies. And SpaceX has lots of boosters and fairings with 20+ cycles.
@supernova4760
@supernova4760 3 дня назад
This is because other providers want to charge you and make a profit off the launch. SpaceX’s goal is to make launching more affordable to increase access to space exploration. One of Elon’s best quotes, “There are organizations that do wrong to look good and make profit. F*ck them!”

This kinda footage makes me wonder. What if the fact that we haven't detected any intelligent life comes down to rocket-fuel? What I mean is: what if other intelligent life never was able to leave their home-world, due to different conditions on their planet. What if we are the first ones to do that? Considering the expected number of years the universe will exist, we truly might be the first to leave our home-world.
