SpaceX launched the the Intelsat 40e commercial communications satellite into orbit with the NASA TEMPO Earth observation instrument aboard on April 7, 2023. Full Story: www.space.com/spacex-intelsat...
The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 12:30 a.m. EDT (0430 GMT) and the first stage landed on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution instrument (TEMPO) "will measure pollution of North America, from Mexico City to the Canadian oil sands, and from the Atlantic to the Pacific hourly and at high spatial resolution," according to the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and NASA.

After the 4 minute time, the voice of the narrator belongs to Kate Tice. One of the greatest voices in media. ❤ 👍

Space X narration and comments are so much more professional than NASA commentators or almost all of the amateur live bloggers. Thank you for sharing, Space X.

can someone tell what exactly does super heavy booster does in starship as i saw some other videos where starship flies without the superheavy booster. Is it meant to put the upper stage in the orbit? If yes, why haven't they tested the launch of starship with the booster yet. Also what is that thing called starhopper? Might come accross as dumb but these are my genuine questions
@leeroychang
@leeroychang Год назад
Star hopper was their first test vehicle, basically testing the first ever Raptor engine in flight. Yes, Superheavy is the first stage which will lift Starship high up to allow it to get into orbit. Starship doesn't have the fuel to get into orbit on its own (this is known as 'single stage to orbit'). It doesn't work like that because it would have to carry all the fuel etc and then the empty tanks everywhere with it which is why they break into 2 or 3 stages even. They flew Starship on its own to test it's landing. It flew to 10k feet and then did the belly flop manoeuvre with the flip. They do this to save fuel as the ship is coming to ground slower. They haven't tested Superheavy because it's the same principle as Falcon (just a lot bigger) and they've tested the engines on Starship. They are doing a proper orbit attempt this Monday! Don't miss that! Check out Tim Dodd/Every Day Astronaut on here or WAI (What About It) or obviously SpaceX's own RU-vid to see the launch!

Yes, they are really great questions for a second grader! My nephew is first class and knows exactly what a booster means, up to what altitude and speed the second stage of the rocket can carry and that after that it can no longer function without being equipped with engines that can operate in a vacuum. If you want, you can see about 180 launches of the falcon booster, of which 38 this year with a recovery rate of 90% (the rest were deliberately abandoned) According to the profile picture, you seem old enough to get on the Internet and get informed

@@iuliandragomir1 Kinda rude but okay. Thanks. edited. Man, you really made me feel bad. What is the point of being rude to a complete stranger online. I'm still learning things about space, rocket engines, and other stuffs. I'm 20 btw, my bad :(

@@techwizard8214 no worries bud. I've been looking at it all for a few years now so it's easy enough to condense. Bit tougher if you're a bit newer to it. Marcus House is another RU-vidr that does good updates. Nicely condensed also. Would def recommend. Enjoy!
