You asked for it! Here's my 23-month real-world hands-on SpaceX Starlink internet review. Q: Would I recommend it to new customers? Q: What type of speeds can we expect from Starlink? Q: Is Starlink $120/mo or more worth it? Q: What does the future have in store for SpaceX Starlink? Watch till the end and take a moment to add your thoughts or even simply an emoji to the comments so I know you were here! I had the same experience as you. FedEx left it 3/8 miles away leaning against our mail box, USPS and UPS bring boxes back to our house. I needed the 100" cable, dongle, and mount like you also. Set it up in the yard for a few months until I received everything. Speeds were amazing at first then really slow, now a little better, but still all over the place, but still better than what we had. We've had ours since March 2022.

We were paying $95/mo for a 15 Mbps package for a wisp network plan. Rarely did we ever get 15, but we were happy to have it and used it for years. All I can say is that StarLink has been absolutely incredible for us. We live out in the country so fiber is not an option, nor is LTE. Your videos are spot on. Thank you.

SW Colorado again. Thanks for what you do. DSL for 20 years - top speed 12.5/1.1 on a really good day. Year and a half in now. SpeedTest average is 110/14. Still have congestion in the evenings - some nights are 28/10. Upload speed are getting better. Very satisfied with total package, but worried about increases in fees.Your videos helped to smooth the process, but we've already talked about that. Local fiber is trying to move in, but still six months out minimum. Rural internet is Starlink's domain! Slow and steady wins. Govt not so much. Can't believe you're sporting sweaters - temps here now 70/32. Perfect!

You pretty nailed it. In my use case, I had Viasat and was happy to kick it to the curb on trash pickup day back in April 2023. It served as my redundant backup for my primary wireline services, as with you I live in a tropical cyclone prone area i.e. Tampa Bay Florida. I also participate emergency communications for the Amateur Radio community, so having a non-terrestrial internet connection outside of a potential disaster area is a must in my book. The latency is definitely way better than what I had and now I am able to route Ham radio traffic via Starlink without any issues when the need arises. The $120/month price tag is bit steep for backup services, but the peace of mind that I can take Dishy in before a major storm takes landfall and be up and running in about 15 minutes when it's safe to do so.

Agree. I'm in very rural Texas. Option is slow DSL from the phone company., or Satellite. ..in my case only Viasat was available. Some can get Hughes Net but I'm in a hole and HN can't reach me with the signal. I barely get cell service here, but use hotspot there when I need more speed. Testing Starlink now and it is vastly better, but not as good as when I lived in the city and had fast cable internet. But for here, it is a wonderful solution. There are outages now and then, but each day the system has stabilized more and more. So I'm pleased. I'd recommend it if you are in my situation. Not for city dwellers that have better options and just want to look cool.

Starlink has been the solution for us! I live in rural So-Cal (if you can believe that), on the border of the Mojave Desert and the San Bernardino National Forest in a secluded foothill community @ 3,500 ft. My old (and now backup) internet service is a microwave signal from a neighboring town. That consistently provides 6-8 Mbps down and 1-2 Mbps up. After waiting 15 long months I now have two (2) Starlink systems. RV/Roaming as of June 2022 and Residential as of July 2022. My RV/Roam service is currently on pause. My Residential service averages 150-200 Mbps down and 15-20 Mbps up, with a current latency of 19-30ms. Recently, I have seen speeds as high as 320 Mbps down and 35 Mbps up. YES, we Love Starlink! 🥰

How does your Roam do?
@royrobinson4636
@royrobinson4636 11 месяцев назад
@@EmanM45 ~ My Roam system has been on pause for a few months, not sure of the current performance. Late last year I tested them both (side-by-side) for about 4 months, and at the time I never saw Roam speeds go any higher than 50 Mbps down and 6-8 up, compared to my Residential (at the same time) averaged 150 Mbps down and 15 Mbps up. Roam service is also $150 a month vs $120 a month for Residential. I only purchased Roam because it was available first, after waiting 15 long months for Residential, which became available 3 weeks later? I have the Roam system in the box stored in the garage for a backup system in case my Residential system gets damaged or malfunctions.

Got starlink, just like you have said ups an downs. Almost quit.still doing starlink and t mobile. Tmobile been great. Jay, I live in SE rural Kansas, 91 miles, N, S, E & W to the nearest Interstate. With Starlink, I have the fastest speeds in town (or out of, for that matter) I got my Starlink in May 22 and had to use the mobility option, because I live 8 miles outside of their service area at the time. I've has speeds between 211-50 down, 6-11 up for the first year. Over time (and just recently I get a pretty steady 105-160 down, 18-20 up. Latency in 23 min 65 max. The main point is that, yes, SpaceX is throwing up a bunch of satellites, their ground station aren't keeping up. When I first hooked it up, my POP was in Dallas, now it is in Denver. When I first signed up, they were saying there was ground station in Iola KS, 120 miles away from me, I dont think it's online yet. Just saying they may need to build out the ground stations to spread that load as well. Thanks for sharing with every one.

I had the same experience with my fed sux driver. I moved to an area that has almost no cell service, land lines are horrible at best DSL And cable are non-existent, and the only other alternative is Hughes net for slower speeds and much higher cost. While I’ve enjoyed my time with Starlink. I have my order for Fibre in and I am scheduled to get it next week I am keeping my Starlink as a backup however because my area is prone to freezing rain that takes out power and internet at times.

It was NOT supposed to be launched with the starship yet. That was a test flight (many more will follow) and there was a known 90% chance it would fail, or remotely destroyed. Is was pure to test the first minute of the launch. So next time when you try to share information, make sure that you know all the facts and not make up your own stories.

Being stuck in geostationary hell, (because of ZERO cell coverage) I care less about throughput, and even cost or data caps, but rather LATENCY. If you haven't ever used Hughesnet, et. al. you have no idea how frustrating 1200-1500 ms (aka 1.5 seconds) of latency is, it would make you laugh; and i'm not just talking about gaming, etc. (which is truly impossible) 50ms latency would be a dream... waiting for the box of joy.... 🙂

You build a YT channel on SL content; so in your case it is definitely worth it for you personally. Your complaints about somewhat slower speeds are a luxury problem, sir. You never mentioned downside of supporting Elon Muskow, a Putler suck up and clearly not one of the nicests persons in the world. You have no customer service, I have, but is it worth it when you are treated like shit and being told that the slower than promised speed is good enough, literally like that!? We await the liberating Starlink e-mail and in the meantime I ponder how and where to put the dish above the treeline in our green bubble. Keep up the good work Joe!
@jcristina
@jcristina 11 месяцев назад
Thanks so much for your thoughts. They are appreciated. I personally do not have a cable or fiber option and Starlink is the only satellite option worth a sh1t so it is truly the best. That said, I’m not interested in the politics of the company as if I were I would not ever shop With Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, the list would be ends.

Q: Why would Starlink Dishy show less blue area after raising the dish 7 FT higher that it was? It had a clear view with what looked like the tree line to the outer edge for the blue. Sould i lower it back down to get more blue area back?

Nah. I would factory reset it and let it reposition itself and then wait 24-48hours.

Hello JCristina, I think I'm gonna be awarded the medal of honor for not having installed my Starlink rectangular dish I received about 1-1/2 years ago. For which I've been paying my monthly bills on time ever since with auto-pay. My bad, I'm pushing myself and my laziness into completing this task by Monday! I NEED FAST INTERNET WITH NO CAPS, THROTLE AND TOTALLY UNLIMITED. I'm in Puerto Rico and coverage seems to be very good for Starlink. I have an old Dish Network install where I can make the install for my Starlink hardware. It's very sturdy. Many of your videos are very inspiring I just gotta run with them. Thanks for all you do sir. Looking forward to your book of "All Things Starlink" Many Blessings to you and family. FRANK

More satei light means more space junk in space, you didn't sold me on this because I don't do think is worst it. The cost, and so many problems from most of my friends who hads it. O think in the last coue of months you turn into a stsrlink fans, you hardly dont do photo talk or video talk after awhile when I turn to watch you channel it qas about star link and for that is the reason I stop watching you channel you was my one of my best channel just like today I watch or try to watch and I kept moving the dial to the end cause it got boring, nothing personnel but I lost interest in you channel you was better then this when you was about all photography and video and you try to talk about gear and that disnt go so well you are all in starlink but I am all out of your channel sorry but that my option but if you get back into what made you I will watch you again respectfully. Good luck in your starlink channel...and wish you well.

Why do RU-vidrs still continue to think it's acceptable to waste the viewers time in the first few minutes to get them to advertise their RU-vid channel? It is not our job to feed the algorithm. It is yours. It is not our job to watch your ads. It is your job to get a job to pay for your RU-vid . It's not the viewers fault because the RU-vidr dropped out of school or had to drive for doordash and failed and then watched a few Gary vee videos and then thought RU-vid would be the way out of the hole they had dug for themselves. No matter the reason why you decided to talk to yourself inside a tiny room is none of the viewers biz, only your therapist can answer. The extraction of value from the video is much like extracting gold from a motherboard. Smashing the board brings way more enjoyment than melting the gold just to make a gold flakes to put in my liquor.

@@jcristina slight miss print 250 is usually the high end but will go to 280 for alittle bit but I could maybe be getting alittle better speeds idk. Ever since I got my Starlink it’s always been on the floor in the corner. I havnt been able to bring it into the house where I wanted and up higher. And I use WiFi. Which I don’t know if that makes much of a difference. Compared to Ethernet
