My spatial awareness tells me that -- if you follow the arrow -- you were standing somewhere in that 3-way intersection outside of the corral. It's amazing how in such a short period of time that something like that ranch can be torn down and removed and nature basically take back over. You can hardly tell something was there. Thank you Michael for sharing.
@Tarantulisimo
@Tarantulisimo Год назад
It was actually a long process over years & decades....the movie sets were already over 20 years old & pretty dilapidated/run-down by the time the Mansons moved in; then the authorities tore up & wrecked a lot of sh*t during their numerous investigations; & in 1970 there was a huge fire that destroyed almost all of the remaining buildings...Then over the next 40 years, whatever remained was either bulldozed over or pushed into the ravine, removed, taken/stolen/vandalized, or reclaimed by nature....I know that as recent as the last 5-10 years, people have dug around & still found bits & pieces of wood, brick, cars, trucks, furniture....
@TomG1555

@@Tarantulisimo There a photoset which can be found by Googling "cielodrive spahn ranch"; most of it is of the arrest of Manson at Spahn, but the last one is of SR after the fire: it shows there was very little in the way of structures left post-fire, just piles of debris.

Let’s never forget that these people who portrayed themselves as Love, were ready, willing and able to slaughter a woman who was ready to deliver a baby, an innocent 18 year old who begged for his life, another man who was stabbed over 50 times, another woman who screaming could be heard for a great distance and called out for her mother and another man who tried to stop the love of his life from being terrorized and knifed hung and begged for her life. Manson and his group indulged themselves every day, and then they used their Love to ruin generations of their victims families. Like Mrs. Tate said, “When am I going to get paroled?” God rest their weary souls.

I was 13 yrs old in 1969, living in Hawthorne California. The 'flower-child' era was going on, the hippie stories, and psychedelic art. Our parents were 'old fogeys'. Make love, not war. Give peace a chance. Those murders were chilling and we should not forget this story nor the history of the 'family'. It shows how gullible youth could be influenced so easily into something horrible before they knew it.

Love the video. It was the church across the way that removed Mansons name off the rock. It's the rock Manson sat and sang to his followers from.

Will you be exploring Barker Ranch? I think there’s an old truck there as well as a dried up swimming hole. You might need a guide as it’s not an easy trek.

I used to be shocked seeing Charles Manson in those documentaries when I was younger. Now I see him as a sad, failure of a man who was only gifted in manipulating weak minded followers.

He clearly had a very high IQ but had basically no formal education. None he accepted at least. And with him basically being raised in the jail system from age 9 or 10 all played into him becoming a full on sociopath with psychotic tendencies. He's basically real life Joker only he had others carry out his plans

@@YaBoyJRock42069 Yes, that is a very accurate description of Trump. How he became president is both amazing and a tragedy.
