The "real budget" is st that does not affect the people of Madrid, but the private companies that are involved. If they spend more, less or whatever, that will be their share holders problem.

It'll probably inflate somewhat, but Spain is actually surprisingly good at keeping infrastructure costs in check. So I'd say more like 10bn. As an example of this: Spain's *entire* Highspeed rail network (which at present connects Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, and Zaragoza along with minor cities in the middle) has cost less than the 1 line they are still building in California.

total bullshit xD !!! before this happens, Spain falls into a Civil War. You have no fucking idea about Spain. Actually its one of the major capitals for Fascísm and also probably some of the most brilliant progressives. Europes downfall will be among Spains switch to the far right, were it has always been, despite the appearance of democrátic normality, it is doomed to only get worse. The mafia has all power among judges. Decades until anything is positive tovards sustainable progress. No progress is possible, it will be always sabotaged.

Those decks built over existing train tracks are super useful. I live in Finland, Tampere where they are building a sports arena and skyscrapers over train tracks. It’s a very central area in the city. There was no space anywhere else either. The center of Tampere keeps moving southwards since it’s the only place where there is free space left to build, but I don’t mind since everything that was and is built there works well, much better than in the original center where all the services were scattered in separate buildings.

@@davidfaguaja9052 Probably it would make a picture of what is Madrid because internationally it doesn't have a clear image to represent it, for example in Barcelona the Sagrada Familia Church and the beautiful Skyscraper makes a good image to represent all the city, the skyline would represent the modern and prosperity of Madrid even it didn't exist. Just like London or Paris Skyline are unique and represent the best of Europe or Moscow Skyline with the Russian old and important buildings are a good and beautiful powerful contrast
@davidfaguaja9052
@davidfaguaja9052 3 года назад
@@crisremr6894 the focus should be on the social impact of this urban project within the city itself. It's not about competing for international recognition, really. There are a lot of issues to solve here before that, in my opinion. Also, Madrid's modern prosperity should be measured in other indicators, like social equality, green environment, commuting habits, and a large etc of things that actually improve our peoples life. Who cares about how it's seen overseas, tbh, if you are going to look into the height of the buidilngs itself. For hyperdense cities like NYC, or Hong Kong, this typology of building is useful. But, in my opinion, Madrid should focus on other kinds of urban development more of its own.
@crisremr6894
@crisremr6894 3 года назад
@@davidfaguaja9052 I think the best city downtown with people focus will make Madrid more competitive than other EU cities and with that people would have access to a better salary, better jobs, infrastructures, near schools and hospitals, we can't get social equality just by spending on "social programs" that doesn't go to people but the government and his representatives and ministers. A more iconic city will attract more investment from other industries that never took position in Spain because they prefer London, Paris or Frankfurt. Just look at Poland in just 20 years pass from being a poor excommunist country to a impressive economic point in Europe with high standards and in future will surpass half of Europe on importance. People don't want subventions money while they have unemployment for years because that make them dependent of the state and unproductive people. People want an actual job that make them independent to make their life free without any burocracy and market freedom so people could start their own business easy like in Estonia or Ireland. You gain social equality if you make people could make money, look at the Nordic countries that have good social system thanks to the most economic liberty of the world with discipline.

@@blabla-rg7ky I’m on the other side of this. I can’t even begin to tell you how many folks have invaded flats all over Madrid, and stay for years living in a home that doesn’t belong to them for free. They often destroy property that doesn’t belong to them while there’s no legal repercussions for their illegal actions. Spanish civil society, like many other places in the west has a really big issue with PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY. My father and his family worked really hard to buy a house to live in Chamartin, to see opportunistic folks invade homes/flats and destroy other people’s residences in the process. A shortage of affordable housing is a fact of life, no doubt in one of Europe’s largest capitals, but if you can’t afford the neighborhood, move out to the burbs and commute by rail. @@blabla-rg7ky That is a very good question, as it happens often in many places. Fortunately not for this project. Neighborhood associations representing around 90% of the neighbors of the region, have been involved in the project from the start. Their claims and requests have been taken under consideration at all points. That is why this project has such a strong citizen support and the main reason why the government of Manuela Carmena ended up supporting this project even though they were against it at first. As of this moment, and as far as I know, no neighbors are expected to be evicted or removed from their houses against their will. The majority of existing buildings will be renovated and most new constructions will be done on empty land (of which there is plenty) and over covered rail tracks. This is the theory, we will see what happens in the future. I hope this helped!

I’m not sure if this is true or not but I remember hearing about how Spain’s population is expected to decrease because of a low birth rate
@PresidentialWinner
@PresidentialWinner 3 года назад
Of course it's true. It's true in every developed nation from the US to Japan, every country in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and even China. Taiwan and Singapore have the lowest birth rates, less than half of the ratio that is needed to sustain a population. Every nation will follow suit, but Africa will be last, and due to this whole thing the global population will stop at 10-11 billion, eventually likely decreasing fast. This will cause the collapse of civilization as we know it but long before that we will see the effects of the dual problems of an aging population but with less young people. With so few tax paying, working-age people paying for the welfare and retirement programs, the ponzi scheme will fail, unless of course we increase the age of retirement, which of course we will. So the age of retirement will be in the late 70s or even later, almost no one will get pension because most people will die long before that age. But do not worry robotics and automation will make most of these worries obsolete. We will create robots who take care of our elderly, and do our jobs for us.

@PresidentialWinner

@@TheLiamster Populations may increase due to immigration, but what that does is change the demographics of a nation from the natives to foreigners. Whether this is a problem depends on a few things that mostly have to do with values and culture, not ethnicity or religion (although religion of course is important when considering values and culture) So you can alleviate the problem by bringing in more people from the outside. Even if you ignore the demographics and the societal strains and issues, the immigrant populations that you bring in will eventually have low birth rates as well so that is not going to solve the problem. And like i mentioned eventually every country will face this issue of low birthrates.

Spain should really invest wisely. With its enormous potential for renewable energy(wind and sun complementing) it can easily transform itself to be the top producer and exporter of green hydrogen and ammonia which are going to fuel the future. Time is short as they need to really ramp it up before other nations with more investment capacity overtakes it. Huge infra projects like these in western europe(with its high labour costs and post covid supply shortages) are almost always a money pit which require absurd amount of time and money to become sustainable. The figure of 18B added to the GDP will more likely be the amount that they will end up spending on it.
