Man that game broke me. I rly thought it was our (Portugal) year, we had the chances but once again, just couldnt convert. Pens are pens, its anyones game, and they were better on the day. I just don't see anyone beating this French team tbh, it's so hard to create chances against them, and defense wins championships
@@niallbennett9582humbled for what nobody gave Spain a chance before the tournament they already overachieved compared to expectation next WC they will go in as favorites as each tournament goes by the stronger they become
I think Nagelsmann's big mistake in this Tournament was having Havertz starting no matter what. He was good in combination and scored 2 Penalties, but he missed so many clear chances in open play. When Füllkrug came on, Germany was so dangerous in Offense espacially their crosses where actually dangerous then, when Füllkrug was the target. And he showed that he's also good in combination play. So it's sad Füllkrug never got to start because he had true impact.
I don't understand why Portugal still starts Cristiano Ronaldo, he's more of a liability than an asset at this point. I think with Diogo Jota in the team Portugal could've taken the game within 90 minutes.
It's a funny statement to make when the issue lies in Martinez and his in game management as well as player's that should really step up not stepping up i.e. Leao, Bruno, Bernado, Mendes. CR7 wasn't terrible at all besides Georgia game but he wasn't IMPRESSIVE either. He was just decent and doing his job but the balls weren't getting to him as quality chances besides few which he really should've done well on. As for Martinez's in game management it's the substitution, use Dalot instead of Semedo, use Jota instead of Felix, use Neto instead of Consesao, have Bruno for shootout, Play Bruno behind CR7 not deep, etc. For once let the bias and hatred go and analyze the game well please...
France's attack is underperforming the expected goals by a huge margin so thats a bit bad yeah. But they got scored against only once in 5 matches and it was a penalty... that maignan stopped and got shot again. And when you see everytime they got eliminated in euro/world cup these last 8 years its at pens or after extra time. Spain is strong but its not going to be a fun match for them , the french defense is insane and kounde/hernandez are not easy to dribble past even if you're nico williams or yamal especially with kante and rabiot constantly falling back to defend I think there is only two scenarios here : 1 very obnoxious match 0-0 or 0-1 for france with deschamps managing to lock the game stopping both teams from playing 2 : spain scores and france has to drop the defensive playstyle and the game will end up with a lot of goals on both sides. Its not going to be easy to go through that match and i fully expect the winner to win the euro
Interesting that your take on the germany vs spain game varies so much from most others i have seen. Most experts i saw thoight that spain had an edge in the first half, but germany took over in the 2nd, and being the better team in by the end of extra time. Not to hate, just found it interesting. IMO Germanys biggest issue as a whole remained actually using their chances. And both teams deseeved to win, maybe germany even more so at the end. Also handball rules need an overhaul. The decision to not give one at the end for musialas clear shot on goal blocked by an outstretched arm is apparently by the rules, but that is just BS man :D
No, Pepe didnt stayed with Markus, Thuram come from behind and goes first to the ball, than he dribble Pepe and in the last scene he slow down because he had another player in his face. Then Pepe made the tackle... Lets have the truth spoken.
As a non biased swiss fan ill say spain were the better team in the 1st half in normal time and german were better in everything until 119 min i think fullkrugs shot should have gone in luck was clearly not on germanys side and me personally i think the handball should have been given because the ball was not going to fullkrug and he wasnt clearly offside so the penalty should have been given and 119' min ruddiger should have did an aerial challenge because he is physically capable of knocking the ball but for me the penalty should have been given and it was blind referring in that challenge
I am German and after the group stage I said that neither Germany nor Spain will become champions and I stick to it. France - Holland might be the final.
Morata will play semis, it was a miscommunication from the UEFA and broadcasters...Jesus navas will replace carvajal and nacho/vivian will replace le normand in semis
Germany looked loose the last 30 minutes, did we watch the same game? Spain stopped playing football after the first goal. Kroos should have seen a yellow on his first foul but acting like he would have went for the second one and get red-yellow is unrealistic. Overall Spain had the referee on their side, the amount of tactical fouls to stop counter attacks that did not receive a yellow is stunning
if kroos didn't go for more yellow card fouls then spain would have had more chances to score, that argument is crazy nonsense also, the only tactical fouls were the le normand and carvajal ones and both of them received a yellow card
@@qmyzopa4142 - Spain getting more chances because of a Kroos yellow is highly theoretical. Andrich's yellow didn't do that. Gündogan and Kroos twice in midfield to stop a counter, no cards given. Regardless, give the penalty and its a non-topic. You can't argue with Spains tame play after the 1:0
@@ytho2646 kroos not going for a second yellow card foul is as theoretical ? if you mean the cucurella's handball, then you should know there was an offside and handball from fullkrug in the same play previous to it. but anyways, if kroos had been red carded on his 2nd or 3rd yellow card foul, germany wouldnt have been able to score, therefore, there wouldnt have been extra time
@@qmyzopa4142 the off side is actually not proven - hands don’t count for off side as you can’t score (apparently only prevent) goals with them. The uefa also declined a request to provide additional camera footage for the offside of füllkrug…
Not going to lie, I am 0% excited for this match up. I honestly think Spain are going to obliterate France. And I just can’t get hyped for France in these matches, France has been abysmal, boring and blunt in offense. They really don’t deserve to be there so I think, from a tactical and technical point of view, Spain are going to dominate and if they are clinical it will be 4 or 3-0. And Magic Mike is amazing but he only kept a clean sheet because Portugals midfielders and wingers would rarely execute the killer pass and kept picking the safe pass. If they played the ball as often as they could have that match would have been atleast 2-0 too Portugal.
They only started playing better in the 60th minute when yamal was subbed before it felt inevitable for Spain to score and in extra time it was Spain dominating
I think it was 50-50, but Spain seemed more determined to fight. Even when Germany was really strong at the end of the 2nd half, It felt like Spain accepted the suffering & went with it as a team. Without taking out Nico & Lamine, I think the game would've been much different. And it's a good lesson for future matches.
As if you guys are not talking about the handball from spain. It was a really undeserved win for spain. Germany even had higher expected goals and should have gotten a penalty. Its crazy that the ref didnt even check that situation.
It was a very deserved win, the ref was mostly against Spain and Kroos should’ve had at least 5 yellows. However it probably should’ve been a penalty. The difference in xG is irrelevant since Germany had to push forward to equalise for a long part of the game while Spain tried to keep the 1-0 lead
not sure you guys actually watched the game...füllkrug hit the post and had two more chances to score but was denied by the keeper. Germany had more ball possession, more passes, more corners....aaand was denied a penalty too!
I don't know what game you watched but Spain didn't do sh*t from their goal onwards and was dominated by germany. In my opinion the weaker team won and that means france goes through to the final. By the way can we talk about that spain is a team of crybabies and players who know no fair play? Edit: How did you manage to talk about that germany spain match without saying a single word about the not given penalty? Spain propaganda is real
Sheesh the amount of salt is real. Spain decided to take an insane risk by taking off their main attackers and settling for 1 goal. That meant Germany didn’t have to worry about counters and were able to pile on the pressure and they fully deserved the equalizer. However in extra time Spain were able to slow the game down and pick their moments then when the time was right they sent players forward and were rewarded. There isn’t a weaker team between any of the 2 teams , just different circumstances.
@@niallbennett9582 I mean it’s a game against Germany, were you expecting hat tricks? Williams was really good at starting counters, while Yamal had an assist
