greek team gave a great performance in this game, its bad that they couldnt keep it together in the last quarter :-( but spain as well showed their quality and will to defend their crown, we have to admit that. All in all, the loss to Turkey took as to a difficult path; the way the team played against spain, showed that we deserved a much better rank in this tournament.
this was the last game for one of the best guards of Europe the last 10 years and the best defender also. Dimitris Diamantidis retired after this turnament. This is more important than the defeat from spain(which is a good team but we will beat them one day, i hope).Now greece has 5 players retired and 2 injured, the hopes arent high for this year but the positive is there are many young players with potential. The young greek nt won 1 gold & 1 silver in euro U21 and 1 silver in world champ U21

@TeoK87gr The year we organized the European Championship, it was a shame, i admit we got helps from referees there. But even spanish press and tv news were critizising the referees because we don't like to win in an unfair way. I do admit we got helps that championship, same as most of host teams get helps when they organize tourneys.. which is bad. But on this last game i didnt really see any help. Anyway, sport should be to UNIFY, and not to SEPARATE, that's my main point. Good luck Greece.
The difference is that the greeks are tentative in talking shots and sometimes passes too much while the spanish guns it all the time and they have better shooters that is why they almost always beat the greeks.

@victor1984 i can admit spain is the best team in the world along with usa, but in my opinion this time they didnt deserve it...many fouls were not given to us, most of them giving free throws.but its ok no big deal...our biggest problem now is the retirement of diamantidis.he is our best player and he will be a great miss.he is the best defender in europe
All in alll we dindt show that Greece is one of the best! i am very sad that we lose in 16-final!i hoped a lot ! the akropolis tournament was so good! Sometimes we ddindt play so good but at this tournament the referees are bad very bad! and the best is always when the refereees are wrong the dont show a replay !they show us always some points but not the disscused things!

Δυστυχώς τα παιδιά βάλανε το "εγώ" τους πάνω από την ομάδα και χάλασε το κλίμα, εξού και η αποχώρηση του Δ.Δ. μετά την ήττα. Σε εκείνη τη διοργάνωση έκλεισε ένας μεγάλος κύκλος επιτυχιών για την Εθνική μας ομάδα.
@@KkKk-dk9ml Όχι!! Δεν σταματάς στα 30, σε καμία περίπτωση. Η αποχώρηση του Σπανούλη από τον Παναθηναϊκό αλλά και η αποχώρηση του Διαμαντίδη από την εθνική εκείνη τη χρονιά λέει πολλά. Το κλίμα είχε χαλάσει στα αποδυτήρια και φάνηκε στο τουρνουά του παγκοσμίου κυπέλλου του 2010.

@@KkKk-dk9ml Έλα ρε φίλε, σοβαρεψου. Ο Διαμαντίδης μια χαρά έπαιζε και στα 36 του. Μόνος του πήγε να γυρίσει την σειρά με την Λαμποράλ. Μην τον δικαιολογείται. Οπως και ο Παπαλουκάς, σταμάτησε στα 31, ο Σπανούλης στα 33, ο Σχορτσιανίτης στα 26-27. Δεν είναι μόνο ο Διαμαντίδης. Σίγουρα κάτι παιζόταν στα αποδυτήρια. Η αγωνιστική επίδοση της εθνικής αλλά και του Παναθηναϊκού το 2010 είχε πέσει πολύ.

we only lost because we gave everything a few days before to america to just scrape a win against them and we were to tired for the finals, which was sad because i thought we would have had it easily, because if we could beat america we could beat any country, aw well at least we made it to the finals...
