I’m so sorry your au-pair experience didn’t go well with that family. They seemed to be quite mean and rude, so you took the right decision. You are such a sweet girl, and Joe is a lovely guy, so it would have been great if you got to be longer together. Madrid is such a lively and beautiful city, with friendly people (most of them. You might not think the same after that family you fell into), fine cousine (I was scared you’d leave without trying a local restaurant or a Mercado 😮 and survive on McDonalds and Starbucks😅) and relaxed way of life. I hope that only good things will come for you in the future.
