Spain update - Time to be worried? 

Whilst some of those policies from the little new party were quite out there, there is no need to worry about the right, or far right as the media call it. The needle of centre has moved so far left that Marx would have trouble keeping left of it in the media today. Today’s “far right” are more properly addressed these days as “right so far” on many aspects of politics given the mess most countries are in right now in many major areas of policy.

To be fair, El Salvador was in a really terrible state. The gangs were violent, taxing shop owners and public buses on certain routes. Violent crimes were rampant. Prisons were run by gangs. I don’t agree with all Bukele policies, but the clean up of the prisons and the gangs is a good thing.

Anyone would say “we should have holidayed elsewhere” if they were on holiday in the UK and their holiday was washed out. No need to make a big deal out of it. I think you are being a tad over sensitive and seeing reporting as criticism. Also concerning is the story you put out about 48 “black flag” beaches in Spain, saying that was a negative story aimed at Spain. The report describing those beaches was written by a Spanish Environmental group. Maybe the press is just reporting the news. Just as you report stories that may be of interest to people who are interested in Spain, these news outlets want to give information to British tourists who visit Spain in huge numbers

Well if those are the top ten most far right views you have ever come across I think you should get out more. You have a very condescending view of anyone whose opinions differ from yours. Clearing out political corruption and putting Spanish people first in Spain is nothing to be ashamed of.

The interesting story about the young US couple moving to Spain and being highly successfull in documenting it on-line, IMO, demonstrates the sheer desperation by growing numbers of people in the USA that want to "get out of Dodge" asap.

Why do you propagate such rubbish? When I first started watching you , you were more upbeat and light hearted.

It really makes you wonder why British media outlets are being very negative and exploiting weather events and such, in Spain. The UK has had its share of weather events, crime, corruption etc. just like Spain or anywhere else. We wintered in Estepona 2024 and there were plenty of UK citizens there, who were very happily spending the winter as well! It was our first time and we loved it so much, we’re going back to Spain. The people were friendly, kind and we felt very safe! 💕🇨🇦

Always value your Spanish issues reporting but I'm with PaullDare (below). I don't fit the target demographic of the 'far right' group you are bagging either, but to smear anyone who is concerned about massive illegal migration and its deleterious effect on ordinary communities is shortsighted and insulting. I note too that you usually label any groups or individuals with so-called conservative values as 'far right' which immediately implies a fascist mindset, while far left totalitarian ideologues don't get the same scrutiny. Just sayin'.

Me and my partner see about 5 stories a day about Spain normally negative! But it will never stop us going to Spain!

When my family meets, my mom says "please, don't talk about politics", and then my dad starts up speaking about politicians. I'm with my mother in this regard.

After that political rant,I'm afraid I'm out from now on. And I'm not a young man or uneducated. Many people around the world are worried about mass immigration and the people in power getting richer while we get poorer,and you belittling them says more about you than them.

Lets identify the actual problem that everyone is dancing around but no one wants to talk about. Global overpopulation and curtailing human reproduction.

Congratulations to the Logrono couple who have found a way to make it work in Spain. That said - don't forget that the teaching salary was $750 a month which is not nearly enough to make a living even in one of the cheaper areas of the country. Still hearing stories of people caught out by the high cost of living, dismal job market and extremely low salaries offered. Be forewarned: if you're coming, do so with a lot of money saved, reliable pension income or be a digital nomad. Otherwise the Spanish dream could turn into a nightmare.

The Live series of City websites are just click bait. I'm ending a lovely week in Gran Canaria. Everyone was helpful, immigration was a breeze despite Brexit. I was at the taxi rank 20 minutes after leaving the aircraft, collecting my checked luggage on the way. 😊

Olive oil update. A month ago I bought 1L of Olive oil for £6.19 from Lidl. Today the price was £7.49. I switched to Sunflower oil for £2.15.
