@@jamesosei6888 Spain played beautiful football from 2008-2012, but they played strictly tikitaka then. The current team has more speed on the wings and uses it on counterattacks, that's why I feel the late 90s, early 2000s Brazil is a good comparison for the current team.

England has been in THREE major finals in the last 120 years. Two with Southgate. Meanwhile Argentina is going to play their 30th Copa America final today. On top of that they've been in six World Cup finals. Germany has played 8 and Brazil 7, Italy 6. Maybe that puts things in perspective that England is perhaps not the Football Giant that you guys think it is.

@@alvin6638 Nothing is free in this world. From my POV we're looking at fixed matches. Betting syndicates run things. Money was tied up in a Spain win, but the odds weren't great. It's easier to fix a win lose game than it is to fake an accurate score, which has better ROI. That's when you see defenders leaving wide gaps, tapped in side footed rolled shots, which any goalkeeper could save, and yet lets them in. From what I saw of the match yesterday the only happy English players were the ones who received extra funds in their bank accounts.

Spain has a unique tactical approach to the midfield. When in possession they spread around and leave space in center. This allows their midfielders to dictate the game as they ran into the empty space to collect ball. When opponents adjust to cover midfield , they have already passed ball away to spaces opponents have left behind and vacated center , creating space again. This is how they dominate possession. Midfield is their safe space.

The real final was Spain vs Germany Spain played football for 90 minutes, England only for the 20 minutes or so when they were down 1-0. England were lucky to be on the easy side of the draw and reach the final.

I still believe that the English players have the ability to play like Spain. Each of those players can play one touch football. But Southgate's tactics and way of playing does not allow them to express that feature. After England equalized Southgate was playing Saka at right wing back and Foden at left wing back. It's an utter waste of that talent.

England dominate possession in most matches they play. But the difference between them and Spain is Spain possess with purpose and their players are constantly moving off the ball to manipulate space and create numerical overloads up and down the field. The English are much better at possessing the ball than in past generations. But they are still too mechanical and look like they are thinking while possessing. With Spain, it’s much more natural, fluid, and progressive. England are getting there but their players need to improve their off the ball IQ much more to understand space and how to manipulate it.
The difference between Spain and England is coach. Spain has a lot of average players but they play like a collective. They remind me of Man Utd in 2013 when players like Cleverly, Smalling or Jones looked like prime Scholes or Vidic 😂

Just ask italy when they were champions and then non-qualifiers just the next year. England going deep happens too much for it to just be a coincidence. Admitting they have an excellent team managed by a gifted manager should not dent your pride.
The most enjoyable Spanish team I’ve seen. The tiki taka era was phenomenal and they controlled the games far more, but this current team is fearless and attacks like crazy.
The reality is that Southgate has been the luckiest coach in the world. He has a bunch of talents who on paper are better than any country in the world, and he managed to make them look and play badly, with no tactics to play on the strength of those talents.....YET he managed to churn out results in 2 Euro and 1 World Cup (Beside 1966 WC, no other England manager can get the results which Southgate managed to achieve for the past 50 years). So FA is so pleased and decided to ask Southgate to lead England in 2026 WC. If Southgate continues to churn out results, we might be forced to continue watching boring and upsetting England matches beyond 2026...

Its easy to say Spain won in style with their delightful football & a deserving champion. But, the country's whole football setup actually plays a big role. From their academy, junior to the senior team. They produced players to fit in the "brand" of football they play..
Congratulations for Spain. The better team of the night and the best in the tournament deserved to win the cup. Pickford seved England from an embarrassment. They were lucky enough to be in the final after luckily avoiding big teams until the Semifinals. On the other hand Spain won the cup after beating Italy, Germany, France, Croatia and England.
You need certain players like Toni Kroos and Rodri to dictate the pace of the game. Win the ball in the middle, setup the counterattack. Rodri did this over and over again, tgat is why he deserves to be the player of the tournament.
