Spamton [8-Bit; VRC6] - Deltarune 

I love both of them tbh, while big shot is to show him menacing and a final boss type of song, Spamton is perfect as introduction showing fully his personality while giving clues that he has something hidden

It definitely gives off the vibe of a sleazy salesman trying to convince you to make an unwise purchase.

The real greatness of Toby Fox's musical work in these games is how these themes all work together for a purpose. You first meet Spamton and this is your introduction - then you fight his NEO version and Big Shot still has a lot of the same theme and samples, but mixed with others, and all amped up to 11 in terms of how threatening and epic they sound, and you know instantly that this is the same guy but the gloves are off and shit is about to go down. The soundtrack is really organic and every theme supports the others, as well as being well integrated within the game's narrative, so you're constantly getting conscious and subconscious clues about what's going on simply by listening. Which is what makes it hit so well and emotionally so powerful.

One thing is certain: BIG SHOT has almost more leitmotifs than an actual original theme, so in that regard it automatically loses to his other themes

@@lunarkomet I would argue that those leitmotifs are a big part of what empowers that theme. He’s using mettaton’s NEO body and has a very clear connection to jevil, so at the very least, it make sense as to why they’re there.

@@lunarkomet Using leitmotifs doesn't devalue a song, it makes it even better if they are used correctly, which is done during BIG SHOT, due to the use og NEO(Due to his body, and likely because of theBattle Against a True Hero motif, too), and Jevil's theme(both related characters, in their everlasting search for freedom).

@@lunarkomet I mean, most of Toby's non-Undertale masterpieces, such as [S] Descend and Oppa Toby Style have been incredible leitmotif mashups. I get that some melodies need to be unique in order to stand out, but Bergentruckung or BAaTH can hardly be called bad just because it samples Heartache or Ruins.
