Spanish articles / El, La, Los, Las and Lo. 

Articles accompany nouns and agree with the gender of the noun.
If the noun is masculine, it will use a masculine article and if it is feminine, it will use one of that gender. We also have plural articles for when they are a quantity greater than one.
Some nouns are neither feminine nor masculine, for which you would then use the neuter article.
