These are serving soldiers. These are the Scots Guards. There are 5 Guards Regiments...the Grenadiers, the Coldstream, the Irish, the Welsh, as well as the Scots. These are the bodyguards of the Monarch, but also serve on active service as infantry soldiers wherever it is required. The other 2 Regiments that are bodyguards of the Monarch are the Lifeguards and the Blues and Royals. Those are the troopers on horseback that always escort the Monarch. Their active service role is as a light armoured reconnaissance regiment. In other words they trade in their actual horses for metal horses. The "Colour" is the flag of the Regiment, which was a rallying point for troops during the confusion of battle. Each Regiment's Colour has all of their battle honours embroidered onto them. In the days before modern warfare, each Regiment in the British Army used to "troop the Colour" every day before the troops, so they would recognise their own flag in the heat of battle. Defending the Colour was paramount because it was the embodiment of the honour of the Regiment. To lose the Colour was to lose all honour, as the Colour was presented by the Monarch. Death was preferable to dishonour. Trooping is no longer done, as Regiments don't carry their Colours into battle any more. This spectacle is to honour the Monarch's official birthday. The British Monarch has 2 birthday's, their actual birthday and the official one in June, when the trooping takes place.

The Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years. Over 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together each June in a great display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare to mark the Sovereign's official birthday.

The little gold banners on the flag have the names of all the battles fought by the regiment. These include the Napoleonic wars and the battles in Portugal, Spain and France. The Guards Regiments are the premier British infantry units. Trooping the colour is the monarch's birthday parade every year and the monarch is usually mounted on a horse, except when the late Queen couldn't ride anymore due to age.

Just one slight nitpick, battle honours are awarded in the event of a victory. So all of these are successful battles (At Fontenoy for example the Guards fought incredibly well, but ultimately it was a defeat so isn’t awarded as a battle honour). Battle honours also aren’t typically awarded for things like rebellions. They aren’t any for the American War of Independence or the Jacobite uprisings for example

The Colour is the flag of the Regiment which is paraded among the soldiers so that they can recognise it on the battlefield. It is performed on the Monarch's birthday as a celebration. The tradition goes back hundreds of years, from the days when the Colours were used to gather troops together . The flag is embroidered in gold with the Battles that the regiment has been in in the past as a reminder of the service & losses of the soldiers .

The Scots Guards have 93 total Battle Honours, and 44 are listed on their colour. From Namur (1695). Three are Spanish, from the Peninsular War - Barrosa (1811), Fuentes d’Onoro (1811) and Salamanca (1813). The last two are for Tumbledown, Falkland Islands (1982) and finally the Gulf War (1991). Trooping the colour to new troops is a very old tradition to make sure they could all recognize their colour even in the smoke and confusion of battle.

The flag is the Regimental Colour, the place its happening is Horse Guards Parade central london . The colours are the flag to rally round in a war before the advent of other forms of communications flags bugle and drums were used to convey an order or message. this ceremony on the Queens/Kings(now) official birthday has been occurring since the seventeenth century (i think).

Off course they are real serving soldiers, and are fulfilling their ceremonial duties 8n ceremonial dress. It's always a sense of irritation that some people perceive the Guards, as well as the Kings Guard as actors or a source of amusement, and accordingly disrespect them, and this can often be found on the channel on a terrific youtuber channel called "Buska in the park", where too often, tourists would disrespect our brave men and ladies of our armed forces....just a bit of context on our soldiers, and the many duties they have to undertake.

I years past regiments were identified by the colour of their collar and cuffs (called "facings") the regimental flag was of this same identifying colour, so became known as the "Colour". Infantry regiments have a pair of colours the "Regimental Colour" and the "Queen's/King's Colour" which is the Union flag. In the Guards regiments this is reversed with the Regimental Colour being the union flag. Septem Juncta In Uno

I appreciate that you are keen to learn and that should be applauded but it would be better to go into a video having some at least a Google search. Not realising the the purpose of the event or that they are all military is kind of a basic lol

Not even 24 Hours ago, I’ve just began to realize that you’re presently Reacting to various Videos that are available on the Internet (as opposed to Films, TV Shows, or Songs)…That Said: It just dawned on me that you might really love my request for you to React to a Video regarding “Antipodes” (meaning the Geographically furthest away places, along the Earth’s surface, that one could travel from any given point)…The Video is 7½ Minutes in length, is from the “RealLifeLore” Channel, and is titled, “What’s On The Opposite Side Of The World From You?”…I could picture you finding that Video to be quite interesting, in spite of the complete randomness of the Topic…Throughout the Video, you might likely keep making a facial expression that says, “Hmm, that’s good to know, very interesting”…The Uploader of the Video is fascinated by random trivial information, is somewhat of an expert on many topics, and is presumably has a really-really high IQ (meaning that he’s brilliantly-smart), as he speaks with a stereotypical “Genius” type of Accent…Worth mentioning to you (as you are located in Spain) is the fact that portions of Spain & Portugal are “Geographical Opposites” of one another, with Madrid, Spain and Auckland, New Zealand being nearly opposite on the globe from one another (which means that one would need to travel nearly 20,000 Kilometers along the Earth’s surface, in either direction, to get from Madrid to Auckland)…Seville, Spain is also nearly “Opposite” from Auckland, as well…I’m located in the Northeastern United States, so the “Antipodal Location” to where I’m located is over “Open Water” off the Southwestern coast of Australia…If you were to attempt traveling to New Zealand from pretty much anywhere in either Spain or Portugal, you would need to take at least 2 Plane Flights and the trip would take you more than 24 Hours each way… . As for my Reaction Video Request ideas, I’m doing the very best I can…I’m still new to your Channel and am, thus, still in the process of familiarizing myself with exactly what types of things you’ve been hoping to “React” to…Hopefully, I’m getting “Warmer” (so-to-speak), with each and every Reaction Video Request I pitch to you…

They are a Regiment from the British Army in there dressed uniform which is worn for any state occasion, or when they are guarding the Royal residences such as Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, the Tower of London etc etc. There are five Regiment's in the Foot Guards and they are the Coldstream Guards, the Grenadier Guards, the Irish Guards, the Scots Guards and the Welsh Guards. They have fought in many wars and conflicts from the 1600's to today, even though they do ceremonial events and traditions they are still a fighting force in the British Army and have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. The flag known as the colour has every Battle honour that the particular Regiment has fought in and of course lost men in Battle and the bravery that they showed. The colour is of course one of the most cherished items that the Regiment has as well as the Victoria Cross medals that members of the regiment have won in battle. The Victoria Cross is the highest medal for gallantry that a member of the British Armed Forces and Commonwealth Armed Forces can be given. 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The parade that you see being done is in London at Horseguards which is the home of the Household Calvary which is two Regiment's of the British Army. The soldiers are marching on Horseguards parade which is in the Barracks of the Household Calvary. Back in the 1700 and 1800 Horseguards was the Head Quarters of the whole British Army.
