I went to another event to introduce other Spanish-speaking Filipinos. It's really amazing how there is now much more interest here in learning the language. What does our accents sound like?
Spanish and Chavacano are still spoken in Zamboanga. ✌️ Both are mixed with each other. Chavacanos can understand Spanish but Spanish speakers can only understand 80% of Chavacano cuz it is Spanish Creole.

La única manera es a través de una modificación/enmienda en la Constitución Actual para que la enseñanza sea obligatoria y al mismo nivel que el Tagalo y el Inglés, la pregunta es: hay políticos hispano-filos que los apoyen ?
Soy filipino pero yo lo hablo con mi abuela porque ella habla tagalog y castillyano, y estoy feliz porque mis hermanos filipinos estan aprendiendo lo ahora, nuestra accenta es muy comfortable con eso idioma mas de ingleis, tambien podemos communicar con nuestras hermanos y primos latinamericos tambien. Yo fue criado con latinos y filipinos y ya tenemos cultura mezcla con ustdes ahora, ojala que en nuestra futuro podemos obtener un mejor relaccion con nuestras compas del latinamerica❤️💟🫶🏽
Philippines is the only Asian country that belongs to the Ibero-American Summit. 🇪🇸 Spain recognises Filipinos as Hispanic and a part of Latin America hence it is easier for Filipinos to become Spanish citizens.

Spanish was taught in the philippines until it was change. Then came english. But the heritage culture and language remains. Spaniards, Mexican and filipinos can easily get along. All fiestival and holidays from religion to fiesta holidays pretty much similar. Add family closeness and values😂

Sorry Spanish language is NO longer used in public places English is widely spoken it's also popular. Because of United States continues aiding the Philippines from 1898 to present from schools Kindergarten to University to economy plus ➕️ free trade with United States. Canada and Australia English speaking countries are also supporting the Philippines from military also.

Tienen más en común con México que España,ya que filipinas se gobernaba desde México cuando eran también tierras españolas, por la proximidad,si no hubiéramos sido tan explotadores y tratando a la gente como esclavos no habríamos obligado a José Rizal a aliarse con EEUU para echar a esta banda de inútiles y explotadores, que todavía siguen gobernando en España, fijate que estando 300 años en Filipinas casi ya no se habla el español y estando EEUU 50 años todos hablan inglés,salvo gente mayor que habla sus dialectos mezclado con palabras españolas, aunque también ayudó mucho que el país Salvador EEUU matara a más de un millón de personas que hablaban español para erradicar nuestro idioma, después se dieron cuenta como eran los americanos y también lucharon para echarlos de filipinas y ser independientes, una pena, cuando estás en Filipinas y ves que la mayoría de ciudades y pueblos se llaman nombres de ciudades y pueblos de España (como Sudamérica)y los apellidos son españoles,los números en tagalog es igual que los nuestros y miles de palabras iguales,todas las tradiciones, religión y costumbres igual a las nuestras,se me cae el alma al suelo pensar que hace 100 años eran españoles.Que gran país fue España y quien la ve ahora, juntándonos a países como Venezuela e irán tratando de acabar con este gran país.

I’m happy that some Philippine universities have reintroduced the Spanish language in the curriculum. Learning a foreign languge is a great goal. Keep it up everyone!
It is not enough that Spanish is introduced in college or even high school. I had both but what is lacking is the opportunity to converse on a regular basis. Consequently, I remain non-conversant.
@@manuelmoraleda9684 There are lot of apps for that these days. You can talk to anybody around the world in the language you want to learn. And no lesson is enough to anybody who doesn't have enough drive to get the skills they learn. That is the reason you'll see some foreigners/naturalize American in US that has been here since mid school and still have a hard time expressing themselves in English and have very thick their accent of their parents native language.
Not enough that Spanish is taught for the first time to adult students at the college level because deliberate conscious learning isn't the right path towards mass-based Spanish language fluency by Filipinos, but rather subconscious acquisition that must be done as early as the age of 3 or nursery.

What if they hadn't scrapped Spanish as a co-official language in 1987? With a population of 115.6 million in the PH, I bet we'd have “Español Filipino”-our own Spanish variant that could have been recognized for localization, similar to Español-Latino (Hispanic America) and Español Castellano (Spain) in language localization and dubbings.

Tengo cincuenta anos, tuve materias en espanol durante la escuela secundaria y la universidad en la decada ochenta. Pero mi espanol es muy mal. Realmente quiero aprender espanol y hablarlo con fluidez. Es simplemente difícil para mí. Alguien sabe donde puedo mejorar mi espanol? Vivo en Cebu.
Como dijo la chica del video, puede aprender español viendo series, películas, videos en RU-vid, etc. No es necesario ir a una escuela. Si tiene la motivación, tiene un montón de recursos gratuitos.

It was done by Filipino politicians full of hate and who did not think about the thousands of Filipino Spanish speakers. THEY ARE POLITICIANS ENEMIES OF THE PHILIPPINES. What they did was harm the Philippines and close doors to the world. Hope more Filipinos learn to speak Spanish , its one of the most beautiful language...i started to learn Spanish in High school n 2 yrs in college but sadly there's no one to talk to,....i still remember when i was small my abuela spoke in Spanish n has a subscription to a Spanish language newspaper called EL DEBATE...hope somebody publishes something like this for the Spanish speaking Filipino n Spanish community in Manila

Spanish is mostly dead in the philippines. Its nice some people are learning spanish however there are more english speakers than spanish in philippines due to the advantages in buisness
All my siblings have Spanish knowledge during their college days, but when i entered university , the government have changed the curriculum and totally removed Spanish subject 😢

The 300 so years Spanish colonization and hegemony of the Philippines, no formal school or education for the masses was established. School in the middle of the 1800 were mainly for the elites but religious school by the Jesuit priest was ingrained to control the people and the indigenous population. Spain simply plundered the country of its gold and riches under the guise of the cross. Finally sold the Philippines to the Americans for $20 million. At least the Americans educated the masses and train people to govern themselves, one reason we learned English language. In the 1980 or so as a student, we demonstrated and pushed for the abolition of compulsory Spanish language to forever divest ourselves of Spanish colonial mentality!!. Speaking English enable Filipinos to assimilate ourselves all over the world.
