How can rules for legal visitors be applied to illegal immigrants, that would effectively give them rights they don’t deserve. Honestly think it through next time.
Many experts told you if you voted for Brexit this would happen and guess what they were right.

Guys, British citizens vote for this don’t blame Spanish government. If you decided to be out of EU you don’t have benefits similar like EU citizens. To be honest it’s simple.
@@Lucylastic178 no France hasn't they did look into it though but decided if they make an exception for the UK they would have to do the same for any non EU member country. It's such a shame.
It’s not just impacting ‘the Brits’ it’s any non EU person. It’s simply a new regulation introduced by the EU. Seems perfectly reasonable. Do folk complain when they visit the US?
@@paradiseworldvideos3859 They're 'Moaning' because the UK grants EU citizens 180 day stays without visas, nothing to do with the rest of the world. Spanish regions are losing out big time, people used to go for all the winter, they now leave halfway through, starving regions of valuable income, restaurants, shops, bars, garages etc; are now deprived of this source, but hey-ho, the EU knows best.
@@nigden1almost every country on earth has a 90 day rule, why should it be different for European countries that happen to be a member of the EU. Besides, it is not a new rule, so why complain now?
@@ab-ym3bfBecause places like Spain rely heavily on home owners staying through winter, Brits are their biggest foreign demographic in most coastal areas. The UK grants them 180 days, it should be replicated for both countries benefit, Spain grants reciprocal health benefits with the UK, most don't. So they, and us, are both losing out by stupid EU intransigence.
@@nigden1 nothing to do with "EU intransigence". Members have agreed 90 days, the EU is there to watch all keep following the same rules. A rule that was in place before brexit, so all in the UK could and should have known the consequence of leaving the EU, especially the brexit voting idiots with a residence/second home in Spain. And no, neither Spain or any other country "relies heavily" on british homeowners staying the winter. Some smaller local areas might, but those houses are being hovered up by other nationals staying the winter, or provide housing for the locals. As always, you brits over estimate your own importance. And why "should" the EU replicate something the UK does? Second example of English arrogance in 1 post.

Unfortunately the 90/180 day rule is standard for non EU members, the freedoms we used to enjoy were because we were a member, sadly that now gone. the UK voted to leave the EU so this is the result. We have lived in Spain for 13 yrs and love it, because now you have to jump through hoops to obtain residency many will no longer be eligible.

There's no rental properties available, the health service is a total mess. 20% of the Irish population is foreign born. That in itself is not an issue if all the migrants were housed and working, but they are not. I have never heard of anyone being asked for proof of where they are staying. That rule has always been in place. As for the visa waiver for anyone between 18 & 70 it’s seven euro for three years. Big deal.
Like most rules they will enforce it when it suits them a extra tool ,if they get pulled over in customs 🛃 but I’m sure they will use this now we are not in eu ,like most rules use them any random moment
I thought you had to do this already. I take a "letter of invitation" with me. It's just an email from someone with legal residence in Spain saying exactly where I will be staying (their address), with start and end dates. Not exactly very onerous. If you're going to a hotel, just proof of booking. We should have a similar system in UK.
100% Especially when you don’t get told the whole story like we give x amount every year but also receive x in benefits .now we have to pay for this and the uk government has save paying out ,,
They aren’t worried tho if you know then you know if you wanna read headlines instead of listing to actual ppls daily experiences then you may think they care but you know the truth if you’ve over stayed in Spain
That's only going to push the price of people touring in spain. so it's only going to make people avoid the hassle of booking places So we go else where

I voted for Brexit and I don’t mind the restrictions at all … I’m in Spain at the moment … for a month in a rented villa … I think it’s only reasonable that if you want to retire and live in Spain then you should have applied for residency and become a Spanish citizen … if you didn’t apply for residency then more fool you …..
Absolutely! If you are just looking for a holiday then 90 days should be enough. If you intend to move permanently or even semi-permanently then apply for residency and if you have a holiday home in the EU and want to spend more than 90 days apply for a long stay visa, it is not exactly onerous. You need a passport, an address where you are staying, proof of sufficient funds to finance your stay, some health insurance and promise not to work while in country.
It's not all about the old folks, this life! Not everyone is a pensioner who can manage without needing to work. Many of our younger set would love to emigrate without the new barriers to stop them. I think about others in my life, not just myself!
Were brits, we live here, we voted Brexit & we’re happy….. the UK needs to restrict stay times for all non UK residents & get identity cards with biometrics & that way everyone is on the same page as Europe for travel….. fairs fair
I don’t understand why this is bad news for the Brits! Spanish holidays are cheap as chips, what is an extra €7? Thanks to Brexit I could afford to holiday in Europe 3 times a year. I chose to holiday outside of Europe, because when I get a break from work, I don’t want to holiday in a Spanish Blackpool. 🤷♂️
Many people get the golden ticket or benefits as part time disabled, the fit part comes when they get fit like Lazarus at the airport. Long term British residents in Spain had years to fix their permanent residency. If they didn’t then tough. Maybe some had dodgy, criminal pasts and didn’t apply. Could you please remind them also that this is what they voted for in the Referendum. Fed up listening to people telling me that these things are not what they voted for. I tried telling people at the time, but the nonsense was much more appealing. Personally all for a country knowing who is there and where. Would also think that those Brits a that have been renting out their properties are not going to be too happy.
If you listened to the right people, you would have known. Unfortunately, Spain is not on my list to visit anymore. They have made their feelings known towards us, so just as we've got to get on with it, so have they.

This would of allowed them to spend as much time as they want in the country without it counting towards the 90-day limit for the rest of the Schengen Area. @@PopularesVox Not true I'm afraid...... A new law which would have allowed British second-home owners an automatic long-stay visa has been rejected by a French court for being “unconstitutional”. It had already passed through the two houses of the Senate but was rejected for being unconstitutional and having no direct or indirect link to the immigration bill. As someone who has bought a holiday home post Brexit I was well aware of the Schengen 90/180 day rule. I would never want to stay more than 183 days as I would then be classed as a tax resident which could have issues establishing with the UK authorities as to where my permanent residence was even though I am a UK citizen. My question is what is the logic behind the 90/180 day rule??? Why not allow any non EU third country spend their 180 (183) days however they want as long as they don't overstay. The UK allows non UK citizens travelling as tourists to do this. So if I was from Spain and bought a UK holiday home I could use my 180 (183) days in whatever combination I wanted to.
