In this video I show how to pull a wel sleeve or wet liner. The block is quite a mess.
Here is a link to the Kangaroo Stew where I bought it and got it running.

G'day mate that was very interesting I couldn't believe the shit that those liners had on them, and at first I had no idea why you were taping up the oil holes but it all became clearer thanks mate. John

Hi Lance, love your videos, especially these one on the rebuilding the engine. As it makes me want to pull in one of my old the tractors into the shed and give it a go, only thing is I need to unseize it first.

I don't know anything about it but I have heard that the engine rebuilding people soak the block in an acid bath to clean out the water jacket and give it a general cleaning. Looking at that you can certainly see why a company would do that. Your puller worked really good.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
G Day Harrold, Yes I do that if the block is out of the tractor, the cylinder head is away getting that done.

The new copper liner gaskets I put in were thicker than the paper ones and made the liners proud of the block (which I know they're supposed to be) but the height went out of limits. Will be interesting to see if that happens with this rebuild...
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
I am putting some time into that with filming so hopefully it is in spec with the alloy. They feel thinner.

Long time viewer, first time commenter!! Love ur vids lance. I have a mf35 petrol, is the process basically the same for the head removal and piston removal? Also, I don't have the ability to make a liner puller. What is another method that you've found work's?

Gday Lance! Put that tape in the microwave for 30 seconds, make it like new! They make a huge assortment of wire wheels for your die grinder.. just got to take that roll lock off!
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
G Day Bob, I never knew about the microwave tape thing I will give it a go. Im always worried about a wire wheel in a die grinder as the go so fast but it would fit a lot easier.

Good day Wow those liners. That would help to keep engine hot to I would think. Many yrs ago I was told always use rain water or soft, not drinking water, up here in Canada. Thanks
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
I don't use water at all now a days I use a glycol based coolant. it stops this sort of thing and lasts for ages and is an anti freeze in the right concentration.
@deborahstein
@deborahstein 4 года назад
For the REALLY STUCK liners I’ve seen a portable hydraulic set up with hardened tooling capable of actually busting out the casting of the block, so use one with care!
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
That would be interesting, I have not seen that.

Blimey the state of that cooling system was shocking. I must admit that having seen that I think I would have converted to splitting/engine out and hot-tanking that block. If you measure the bigends and find they are worn will that decide whether you pull the mains as well? I think you said in an earlier video you weren't going to touch the crank did you not? Never know until you get into it though.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
If the crank is waaay out of spec it will come out but it is just out by 0.0016" so with new bearings I am going to run with it and see how it goes.

Hi Lance. I'm one of many that enjoy watching your posts. Ive got a small 20 acre hobby farm out bush in central Vic near Bendigo about 250 k's from where I live. Ive built a workshop and I'm just waiting on finishing the concrete so I can get stuck in and do one of those in frame rebuilds myself. Ive never done anything like this before but I reckon following your rebuild on your Tea20 I'll be able to do it, using SPAREX parts bough from you of course ! Can you tell me if there's anywhere I can get a hold of a puller just like yours as I don't have or don't know anyone with a lathe .How about making a few in your "SPARE" time and flogging them, Id buy one for sure and I reckon you'd make a kill-en. Regards Jim. Melb.

I'm making a puller similar to yours to remove the wet liners on my TO20. I know the liner bore is 3.188. Would you know the OD of the bottom of the liner? Thanks
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 3 года назад
There were 2 sizes but if you make the step on the puller plate 1/8" of an inch larger that the bore it will work fine.

G Day Allen, No the TEF is a different beast with dry liners.

When you pulled the liners out of the 135 you had to break them out. I take it the liners on the TEA20 are different otherwise you would have pulled the135 too. It seems easier once you have the puller set up.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 года назад
Yes, the 135 was a dry liner and these are a wet liner.

Howdy From Kentucky USA. I have a poor man's question. Got a TO20 and seems I'm leaking coolant around the sleeve O-rings. Would it be possible to pull the sleeves, replace the O-rings and re-use the same sleeves? Mine also has the notorious cracks in the webbing between each cylinder.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 года назад
Yes that is a reasonable fix. Try and keep the liners in the same orientation and position in case they are slightly oval from wear.

You replace the liners and not have them honed when they are pulled out ?. I will make sure I have coolant in my updated TE20
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 3 года назад
No need to hone the new liners as they are already to size. These liners were way too worn to fit new rings to.

Hate to ask you but I believe you know what you are talking about. I have a TE massy Ferguson how much difference is there than the TEA that you are work on and where can I find pets for it number on it is a 77786
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 3 года назад
The TE can have the continental engine where this is a Standard Motor Company engine but these were used in the TEA20, TED20 and right up to the MF135 petrol really.
