Growing your own produce is a wonderfully rewarding activity that many of our subscribers enjoy. We have been asked many times to do a walk around of Jim's allotment and he was kind enough to oblige. We have missed a lot of the best flowers but are just coming to some of the best harvesting.
Here is a link to the Spargo's Kitchen Playlist featuring many delicious home cooked recipes and family feasts. • Spargo's Kitchen - The...

What a wonderful allotment so full of produce. With the high cost of living maybe a Fish Locker allotment series for hints and tips on growing and rotating crops, who knows? Bet that greenhouse smelled wonderful.

Some of my best memories from childhood were spending time with my grampy at his allotment. I can still remember the smell of tomatoes when opening the greenhouse and that was 30 years ago! Used to sneak runner beans and carrots to the horses on the other side of the hedge, memories that last forever

When I was a big strong teenager, my mother used to get me to help in the garden by digging holes and carrying massive bags8 of cow manure. I’ve avoided gardening as an adult because it just seemed to be all about stink and sweat. On the other hand, I have fond memories of my grandfathers garden, when I was a small boy. He grew amazing pumpkins and also green beans. I’m sure James is having a fabulous time.

I only just discovered this part of your 'RU-vid'. I recognise the Gardner from an earlier post where he was cooking. How totally righteous that you should have an equally gentle chum :) Thank you for sharing.

Nice one John & Jim. Sorry John - not been on here much. Was abroad for a month, brought a bad dose of Covid back with us, and allsorts of medical & family things going on, so not as much time for RU-vid. Stay safe & well. .👍👍

Caterpillars are a nightmare with slugs and snails we used to put crushed eggshell and pea shingle around plants helped to stop them as they don't like the feeling on their foot as the crawl along from plant to plant

The wire on the apples is mealybug you don’t need to spray it because it will spread all you need to do is get some white spirits let it down a bit with water and then rub it on on the stems and or where ever you see it that’s an old fashion gardeners trick hope you do it xx

Gooseberry saw fly on those goose gogs mr locker nasty hungry little critters strip a plant in no time not only that there are 3 different species 🤯 one of them go at it 3/4 times from April onward … I hate em Predators are birds and ground beetles but daily checking and finger and thumbs work best . Can buy nematodes but getting a bit pricey now . Love veg gardens thanks for sharing

Beautiful garden. I would love to have a garden but I might as well have chunks of coal as thumbs. I can't even keep a cactus alive.

Love the videos with Jim. Not sure if i have asked before but does he has what we call Old School Shyness or did something happen? My mother in law passed away in Feb and my Dad had a stroke in July in the heatwave before the 40c heatwave that affected his cognitive communication. He already had dyslexia and not a great memory before. Similar thing happened with my grandad but his stutter he had as a kid came back, just the same as my childhood asthma came back when i got the original covid back in Dec 19. He is back at home. Whilst where he is living is surrounded by trees, he didn't want to move there. It was his step son who wanted his mum closer to him when she was ill and has now buggered off, after separating from his much younger wife, and deserting all of the zoo of animals he was supposed to be rescuing... Moving my Dad even further away from us is now even more of an issue. My step mum was why i ended up in care. After many beds over a few places, whilst doing GCSE's and A-Levels, it wasn't too long before i got meningococcal C Meningitis from a hostel. One of my toughest years. Being into Sea Cadets i heard about the Tall Ships Race. I managed to raise £2k from sponsorship to go on a month long adventure on a 72ft ketch and luckily enough i was cleared my the hospital in time. I also got Sea Cadet of the year for getting into Trafalgar Day, Athletics, etc. My Award was a week away on the T.S Royalist, an 85ft brig, where i earn't my offshore watch leader cert for over 3000k n miles in training. I think i spent 10 days on the RFA Sir Tristam the year before too. There was a creepy guy on board that got arrested upon shore. enough said. When i started uni, i lost all of my funds. I just moved to a flat that i needed to pay for. I worked through uni and did what needed to be done. I worked in Asda as a butcher all the hours i could get and then go to classes. I learnt that credit cards were bad as they were deducting the payments straight away, so i didn't know how much money i had in the bank, until the end of the month. It's just not about gathering or growing resources. These kids needs to know about finances too. I still struggle with things like taxes. x
