That guitar in this game was awesome. Personally, I believe the music in this X game was the best of the three titles on SNES. Capcom never ceases to amaze me with regards to their musical talent.
X and Spark play away with screaming fans below, lights flashing, dueling but complementing riffs ensuing until the climatic end........then came the shot! 😆
of all the themes I have heard from the mmx series, this spark mandrill rocks and motivates me still to this day as an aspiring 36 yr old art hobbyist.
In my years of playing megaman x, I never knew that there was an easter egg in this stage when you see Pieces of Storm Eagles crashed 💥 aircraft in the beginning of this level. How TF did I not know that?
Launch octopus I can understand but Spark?! My brother and I lived this game after we rented our first SNES from blockbuster back then. I've hadoken'd Viles armored carrier 27x, or was it 29?... Gotten two on Sigma-wall and nay a one did anything since it wasn't designed to. Good times in the 90s.
Spark Mandrill is one of the best bosses in the game if fought buster-only. He has such a crazy pattern and you gotta stay on your toes in order to dodge him. Plus he has one of the most fun stages in the game. Some of the weapons are very useful there. I love using storm tornado, fire wave, and shotgun ice in specific sections.
X1 has some of the best bosses in the series. They all have interesting gimmicks and play off the movement in unique ways. For example, Storm Eagle’s wind forcing you to utilize the dash to stay up close. Sting Chameleon has spikes in his room, forcing you to use your wall jump with caution. Flame Mammoth has conveyor belts and his jumping disrupts your movement. Spark Mandrill knocks you off walls and has a projectile that chases along the wall, forcing you to move from wall to wall quickly. And they all have openings where it’s kinda fun to speedrun and see how many charge shots you can pump into them at once. Some of them require a lot of fast reflexes and timing to land those charge shots consistently or deal damage quickly (e.g. Boomer Kawanger’s teleporting, or even Chill Penguin when you want to quickly hit him when he jumps) I think a lot of the people who say X1’s bosses suck don’t actually fight the bosses normally and just cheese them with the weaknesses. When you fight buster only or do a “skill-based run” where you try to kill them fast, the bosses go from “being pussies” to being incredibly intense, thrilling, and rewarding.
