Spark plug replacement 2005 - 2008 Ford Escape 3.0L V6 Tune up Install Remove Replace How to 

Thank you for the great video. I'll type up a short version for more experienced peeps as you helped me out. One of the easier rear plug change outs I have performed on these types of setups 8mm/10mm sockets and a few extensions. Big regular screwdriver (not phillips) Hose clamp pliers or curved needle nose pliers. Powered gun if you have it for removing bolts but not necessary Spark plug sockets and some dielectric grease. If you have an air gun blow cooties out of intake manifold area Remove positive or negative terminal from battery Remove plastic cover thing with two 8mm hex head bolts. Remove quick change hose and MAF sensor connector from air snorkel and loosen bands and remove. Remove two 10mm bolts on EGR Remove part (nut/bolts) behind EGR- towards firewall - one 8mm nut - pull piece that 8mm nut holds away to clear, then use 10mm deepwell to remove bolts. Remove three hoses on back of intake body. One quick change, one easy pull off and one with hose clamp (use curved needle nose). Remove throttle cables from throttle body and brackets that hold to intake. Swing over to passenger fender Disconnect Idle Air Control Valve connector Remove eight bolts holding top of intake manifold on. Don't touch lower manifold bolts or fuel rail parts Pull up manifold and lay over on drivers side. 8mm bolt heads for coil packs. Change plugs. Put a little dielectric grease on plug porcelain but don't be a pig. Just a very small amount and smear with fingers. Note plugs do not go into head very deep. Four of five threads only. I don't use anti-seize but go for it if that's what you do. Clean off manifold mating surfaces and drop manifold back on . Do a couple iterations of tightening manifold bolts in a circular pattern starting in the middle. Put it back together. Thanks again, Fixing cars and stuff. Subscribed.

To focus a video camera for a wide depth of focus (near and far objects in focus together) use very bright lighting that evenly covers the whole scene and a small Iris setting (High F-stop number of F14 to F22). That will make your videos look great. If your camera is a low cost one with automatic Iris, simply using very bright lighting will cause it to compensate by increasing the F-stop to a high number (small Iris setting) and that will give you a wide depth of field (everything in good focus). If you have shade in your scene with bright spots of sunlight, your automatic camera will try to focus mainly the bright spots, leaving the rest of the image out of focus.

I performed this on a friends 2006. I have no automotive training, per se. I was able to do this and change the computer in around 30-45 minutes. The key is having the correct tools beforehand. I originally attempted it without the correct tools and had to stop near the end. Once I came back with the correct tools days later, it was easy. I suggest that everyone buy good tools, like automatic wrenches, screwdrivers, etc, deep sockets and the like. Sure it’s an investment but then you never have to hire someone for the work ever again.

It took me 15 minutes to replace the spark plugs on my 2016 Ford Focus 3 cyl ecoboost - as for my 2005 Escape it will be a couple hours for certain - great video

Thanks. Anyone happen to know how many foot pounds using a torque wrench for the plugs? I have a 2005 that needs plugs. Bring me back to the 50's & 60's when changing plugs were plain and simple. UPDATE- I went to Orielly's and bought a Chilton Manual. It's useless. They were nice and gave my money back when I brought in your video on my laptop and compared to Chilton. With your directions, I'm still having a terrible time of it. Wish you were here or had a grandson to help me.

I'll be doing mine next week. I'll probably take the injectors out and clean them, Lots of vacuum hoses and connections so I'll do whatever I can while the intake is off. Don't want to have to do it again in 6 months.

For those that are hesitant, make sure that you have all the tools and then some. Gap the spark plugs. Take the plunge, once you do it once it will feel easier the next time. It's complicated but not difficult. Caveat emptor, in an old car stuff may break while handling it. Be careful.

engineers that develop engines like this should be forced to do the maintenance jobs on them so they can actually go back and decide if they did a good job on designing everything. just got a 2005 and yippy(sarcasm)I can tell it's going to be a blast to do this job. good job on instructions in video though TY

Excellent job. Doesn't anyone ever blow out the spark plug holes after removing the coils but before removing the spark plug? Looking at all the dirt under the intake, I would imagine there has to be dirt at the base of the plug just waiting to fall into the cylinder when the plug is removed.

Not wonder 4 cyl cars are less costly and easier to fix than 6 cyl.

Hey guys....just finished. I recommend spraying some armorall on all the connectors and hoses before disconnecting. Make them easier to disconnect and prevents cracking. Also I have a small 5mm nut left over....forgot where it went.. please help!

Do you really have to take off the whole intake to change the back plugs?

When tightening the upper intake, after I torque the bolts in sequence, how do I tighten 45 degrees without an angle guauge?

What manufacturer plug did you use? I would like to replace with Autolite Iridium plugs but I think the factory plugs are NGK. Considering what you have to go thru to replace the rear plugs should I also replace the coils?

The problem with the PCM, made in different places diagnostics can not find the problem, insert a new PCM machine factory. 2-3 working days, and again burns PCM and combustion noise issues, electricians, too, can not find the cause. Someone says, because of the coil can be. advise.

i have a Ford escape limited edition 3.0 v6 2007 and i wanna change sparks because i noticed that the fuel consumption is getting high and higer…. and, really??? better bring the trcuk to the mechanic because is another pain in the ass change fuel filter; i got a nissan primera and belive i can do spaks and filters in 20 min.

The way they build engines today it makes it so much work to do a simple job. Some gms you have to loosen a motor mount to get to one plug. Dumb engineers.

Absolutely terrible. For a person who does not know how to change spark plugs this guys is beyond confusing. Saying nuts no I mean bolts I think we might have to do this I’m not sure about this. Stopped watching.

This job sucks. Regardless of whether a mechanic is doing it or you do it yourself, the chances are high to screw up a number of parts. Mechanics tend to drop stuff in the manifold.....means game over
