We can process data stored in our RDBMS databases by importing them to HDFS using Sqoop and then using Spark to process it. What is difference between the Sqoop way and processing DBMS data using JDBC - Spark connector? Which is better approach and why?

Spark is written in Scala. However there is nothing dependent. You can use Spark in Java and Python.

In normal JDBC connection we close the connection at the end with connection.close(), how does spark handle that?

I am running an application to connect to SQL server, it runs for almost 5-6 hrs and then fails with some exception.. SQL Server admin is complaining that connections are not getting closed.. can you please help me understand what could be the reason for that?
