This was easily the hardest tier list I ever made (182 characters will do that), so probably some inaccuracies. For example I now think both Roshis are high tier (buff roshi can transform into other roshi). Recorded before yaji nerf, I think he is still good at high level though This will be the last dbsz video for awhile, probably until they add DLC or a huge balance update. So back to regularly scheduled programming after this 🫡
Are you still liking the game? I want to get back into fighting games. Last one I really played was prolly BT3 on the ps2 lol. Hopefully sparking zero has a long life span
Would have liked to seen the final list at the end somewhere. I think Hit was hidden somewhere behind your body for the majority of it. Good to know though!
Vanish wars should turn into vanish guards after 9 vanishes turns into blinking around the map instead. Oh, I have more ki than you resistance is futile.
No respect for anyone who runs Wheelo. I just know they're a cheeser everytime. Anytime I've gotten to Great Ape vegeta against them, I destroy them in the Giant v Giant battle
@rma3505 nah I only have 1, saiyan saga vegeta so that I can have the option to go giant if I play androids or Wheelo but don't need to if the other person doesn't. The people who do entire giant teams are also so hard to play against
@@rma3505 In my experience, if you run into those teams, they dont know how to actually play the game; they just know the cheese. So if you have one giant and you get decent at using it you can destroy them mostly
I'm still of the opinion that the "vanish war" is very boring rn because most of the time when it starts, it goes on until one of the two players has no Ki left and I almost can't finish my team fights because then the time runs out. Even when its a 1v1 i want actually to fight my enemey and not vanish most of the time in my matches. I think they should definitely change this mechanic. I have an idea, when a "vanish war" happens, then for example after the 4th vanish or so, it should get faster and faster until someone screws up, I would find that much more interesting and of course you don't fall asleep while watching , not like now at the moment.
Yes, I think the same. Vanishes should become increasingly difficult in Vanish wars. To the point where it's almost impossible to do it more than 4-5 times. It's such an easy fix and will improve the game so much!
This is a fantastic suggestion. Simple, easy to implement, and fun. Would make me look forward to them instead of dreading how much time they waste when they happen. Just my preference I'd only slightly modify your suggestion to say after every back and forth it should get 33% faster, so increasing speed after the 2nd vanish to expedite it even more and make it more skill based.
A lot of people can benefit from just watching the first 5 minutes of this video. Succinct and accurate explanation of how the balance of this game (and to an extent, even previous BTs) works. The characters are largely doing the same things, it comes down to the fact that some characters can do them better than others. It makes the DP system _a bit_ of a red herring, as it rates characters loosely by lore strength, and not the skills, despite the obvious damage increase when going up.
@@cloudburstdrones because, like I said, he can do EVERYTHING better than them. He dashes faster (Roshi can't even fly lol), his rush chain is better, he has reset cancels, he does A LOT more damage than them, he has more health than them, and his skills are outright better than theirs. At the furthest extremes, generally the more expensive character is likely going to be stronger. But remember Yajirobe is still one of the strongest in this game (despite the nerf). In BT3, Base Trunks, Perfect Cell, C17 and SS2 Adult Gohan were the strongest characters; hardly the strongest characters lorewise. Yet they could execute the optimal plan better than other characters, even those that would be canonically much stronger than them.
Talking about how the vanish war is almost always inevitable makes me realize I'm not just nuts. I think the fact that you can spend your ki to open someone up, start your deserved combo from getting your opponent to open up, only to get super countered while your hitting the back and have to just deal with the vanish war which you lose because you spent ki to win the interaction in the first place is crazy. No idea why the super counter costs nothing but a good input. Game might well feel way more rewarding without it
The breadth of knowledge and expertise on a game that’s not even a month old… Mad props to both of y’all lol and a testament to your mastery in the fighting game genre
Pretty good list. 2 I think you missed. Baby Vegeta with each transformation gains full KI and his transforms only cost 1 skill point. First form Baby viable and then Max power Roshi is more optimal to start with because he has more health and then you can transform to first form for zero skill points.
Singles beerus has been my underrated goat. He hits like a truck, has instant sparking, an unblockable ult that does 30k and good ki spam. I rarely see them but i am convinced he is one of,.if not the strongest in the game in singles.
Super Gogeta (Z) is a victim of the character roster expanding. His only saving grace is that his rush is anti-z burst dash and anti insta spark (if timed right), but like the other guy said, good luck getting that ki. It costs 4 ki bars to do it. Give him 1 stat buff move and replace the other with super explosive wave or full power and he'll be able to compete with the rest of the fusions.
I think Z Gogeta might be a sleeper pick in the future. Given that he starts with bonus health and has his own version of False Courage as well as a jumpscare super, it's kinda like getting some of MUI's benefits sooner and for less DP than picking MUI outright. You could pick UI Sign for the same cost, but you gotta spend skill gauge to transform and get those benefits meanwhile Z Gogeta could spend those 2 bars on his defensive skill, getting to sparking, or revenge counter if it's REALLY needed for some reason. Definitely some wishful thinking on my part, but I don't think he's really that far behind any of the other fusions at least, and even then he's still better than tons of other characters.
why is his rush anti zburst? Honestly I love the character just from being cool and having high speed combos so its probably decent, but I mostly play singles
I’m sure they didn’t move him up cuz none of them play him, But I think Baby 2 could have been in viable tier. Insta spark character with explosicve wave who is ki blast type who has a fast hard to avoid ultimate, a fast unblockable projectile like galactic donuts, and a base form that can do single skill point transformation twice to get there puts him hip there.
this is kinda cheese but something else good about perfect cell is that his rush super "perfect rush" is actually way faster than most other rush supers and will catch most people off guard and prevent them from vanishing it with proper timing, its only like slightly worse than hit and ui gokus teleport rush supers or even as good since hit and ui gokus supers will always have a consistent vanish time after the animation
Don’t he start off with like 2 health bars tho or am I tripping? But yeah he is definitely underrated for sure, I believe one of his blast supers are 2 bars too
I think this is a good preliminary tier list. There are just so so so many other factors that weren't even evaluated here; from utility skills that aren't full power, insta-spark, or afterimage, to evaluating the value of different stats. Little things like Cell both recovering Ki and HP on transformation, effectively giving an extra health bar PLUS the fact that he has both grabs and supers that recover HP. Some characters having faster charge speed etc. But it's totally unrealistic to expect anyone to evaluate all of these factors at once when the game hasn't even been out a month yet, even if many of these factors are carried over from BT3.
Important to note that you can still win with characters who are not viable. I really like playing Scouter Vegeta cause I think he is dope and still can pull off wins. Is he viable at really high ranks? No, but I like him so I'm gonna play him. Its good to use a tier list as kind of a primer for character power but if you let it define how you play, the game is gonna be a lot less fun and you will burn out easier. So give Diaphone the finger and go play that Nappa/Saibamen team.
What about base form freiza gaining 5000 HP and a full ki bar with every transformation? That's got to be pretty good for what, 3 BP? Drain meter, transform, repeat up the chain.
I think there should be a tier above unviable for any character with an unblockable attack. YES they are vanishable but you can mix up timings and it's something you always have to respect that puts the above the other non viables
personally i think ppl are sleeping on first form frieza, every time he transforms up until final form he gets a little more than half a healthbar back, and then going from final form to 100% he gets a free full power like cell. this is crazy good for stalling and getting health back on other characters in between transformations plus most of his forms have a fast two ki bar super and really fast ki blasts.
Hirudegarn is the next closest I can think of off the top of my head since he starts with 4 ki bars, which when paired with his beam super being only 2 ki bars he can get a pretty aggressive start going.
As someone who mains zarbon, he is incredibly broken, he also has the only afterimage into counter strike. Hirudegarn is also the best giant, he's basically giant recoome. Was also glad to see someone know spopovich can be rediculous
you didnt mention how doing ki blasts to your opp using afterimage strike refills their blast counter back to 3, so afterimage strike is fundamentally broken with 100% uptime
@@theemperor4959 with full power after image is easy to deal with but u said grabs beat it which is untrue on higher elo since you can always tech it, i dont trust your judgement
Idk about yall but grabs only work for me about half the time. There’s been plenty of times where my hand will grab them, the grab animation starts and they still tech out of it. Happens more than not.
43:30 thank you someone finally giving my boy Cooler some love, his ki charge blast between combos are such a nasty setups, along with phycho barrier which I believe blocks supers too so a bit better than your average explosive wave and hes just freaking cool!
Yup. Barriers block supers and are active frame 1. You can actually *hold* the input during opponent's superflash animation and get it off if you have the resources and aren't locked in another animation.
Just a shout to my homie Tien. Dodon Ray is probably the best 'death beam' in the game and only costs 2 bar. Neo Tri Beam can be a match winner if you can get multiple on target.
In DP battles(can apply to single battle too)basically any character can be a good pick if they have any of the following 1. Full power 2. Insta spark 3. Health regen 4. Unblockable supers or ultimate 5. Afterimage/Afterimage strike/wide sense Honorable mention: False Courage or built in super armor like Broly z and super. Hot take: skill points explosive wave and stun skills like god bind are underrated.
Pro's like Grandmaster Hawk and Katisaki already know that Sparking Zero doesn't hold a candle to Tenkaichi 3 in combat. These people know the ends and outs of Tenkaichi, and you can see it in their gameplay. Maybe when sparking is as balanced as that game it would actually get respect as a fighter.
You guys made a really good point about when the game reaches higher level, what can you actually do about super counter wars? Once the counter lands it could just go on forever and the only way out besides dropping your counter is vanish or revenge counter, which can be countered by perception anyway, do you think this should be changed somehow?
They fundamentally need to change super counters and vanishes. Put super counter on a timer/external resource like the switch in/out timers and make vanish wars eventually end
@@weewer3369 yeah definitely. Once you're locked in to this it's just going to decide how the whole game is played if they don't change it. I personally like the idea of making each counter harder to time and even then they should probably make super counter have some kind of cost like you said maybe a cool down or something.
super counters need something because the game is honestly so boring if the two players know how to play the game. Like it´s a feature that negates almost ALL offense, costs NOTHING and can be button mashed on top of that ?
@@remylebeau34 I know everybody wants it to balanced by making the timing trickier, but what about balancing it by making it a quicker version of rock-paper-scissors?
@@ConcavePgons you mean like making one of the options counter the other but get beat by something else? I would love to see a fast paced rps situation, that could be interesting.
I'm not sure if anyone knows why this is, but UI Goku gets a very quick grab against Kefla if you're right up on her. The special animation seems to override the throw animation. This doesn't work at range tho
I think Instant Transmission characters and a couple of the other skills that are similar to AIS (base Afteimage, Wild Sense, Ultra Movement, etc) are really underrated.
Isn't healing skills strong? Like Fused Zamasu have Immortal Body, it costs 4 and it gives at least 10k health back (1 health bar). Yajirobi's Senzu Beans, gives all health back, now, that would be 2.5 health bar at most, since he was nerfed, and his skill now costs 6 bars and he's still considered strong.
It's so sad that the worth of most characters just boils down to having instaspark or afterimage strike. Vanish wars need to be escapable to neutral or have a mixup, insta spark needs ki sickness, afterimage strike should only activate thrice before wearing off, and buff skills need longer duration and doubled stacks to the affected stat (each buff stack seems to only be a 6% stat increase). The power of skills need to be flattened in some way so that more characters are viable, this tier list barely even discussing 75% of the characters is depressing.
Naah, his superarmor skill is the one that also gives him faster charge. The instaspark is different. *EDIT:* NVM, I completely misunderstood you and you taught me something new. Didn't know Majin vegeta gets the Buff Body character superarmor in Sparking mode
I haven't finished watching the video but i just wanna say that in general, i kinda hope they tweak system mechanics so that they're just like.. Tenkaichi 3. i feel like people will call it Nostalgia but eh, i think some stuff is better there than what it is here in Sparking Zero like Vanish Wars or.. even debuffs? i am genuinely surprised those aren't in the game. (i.e Afterimage Strike gave you a debuff that would force you to charge ki slowly till you switch out / max out your ki or transform, be up or down)
I just don't like how character balance in this game has ended up at all. It all comes down to broken skills, unblockables, ki blasts and other cheese like the Androids. Most of the roster may as well not exist
True, if your character doesnt have instant sparking, some sort of afterimage or false courage(kinda), or something that heals them there practically obsolete
The problem I have is that the After Image strike, unblockables, and instant sparkings are just really random. Like they just slapped them randomly on different characters with no real reasoning. Why does base form Trunks have an unblockable ultimate? The same move is a super on Future Trunks (Super) and it's not unblockable. Instant Sparkings are just crazy random. Why for 3 SC do some characters get a crappy buff, others go straight into sparking, and others go into sparking with a buff? It's all very random.
Can we get a link to the actual tier list? Would like to review the image since it's a very large roster and hard to see where everyone is, trying to theory craft teams
Okay wait, how is Anilaza and Wheelo considered better than Great Ape Baby. He was two really good skills in explosive wave and Howl, on top of having the best defense stat. I just don’t get it
@@SH1NK1R01Except that doesn't really work as a reason cuz Anilaza is more expensive than both and with a less effective moveset. Not to mention that you can start with Baby Vegeta/Super Baby 1 and save even more DP as you work your way up to Great Ape Baby if you really need to, which is a lot more effective than just immediately giving up more than half your team for Anilaza.
Majin Vegeta has instant spark and he has super armor for any non giant character when hes sparking also "sleep" on the buus is full power but with a heal too
People don't even play the characters cos they all play the same. You play the skills or ultimate. You don't main super vegito, you main afterimage strike. You don't main Full power Jiren or Z broly, you main unblockable ultimate. Anyone with insta spark, afterimage strike or unblockable supers is good. If someone doesn't have them, they're meh
for me it is really weird that people think kefla ssj2 is stronger than ssj kefla , i think she is just easier to bully people with , other than instant spark and damage i guess , everything is better with ssj kefla
Wait in these long vanish wars, why aren't you using revenge counter when you get low on ki? Vanishing builds up enough skill gauge to basically do it infinitely, and when you revenge counter, you get a bar of ki.
Hit not viable? he has afterimage which is the 2nd or 3rd most broken skill (debeatble with insta sparking) and has an instant charge attack, he also hits pretty fats compared to character. he has really good combo potential too since he has the attack can make you switch side which is probably the best one and that little jump kick for ppl just holding block
Why dont they make the vanish wars like they were in bt3 ??? Like it’s starting to feeling like xenoverse where u have to take dammage when you have no ki it wasn’t like that in bt3 when you are out of ki you will just do normal vanish without a counter attack if only they change that it will change the whole competitive meta
Bro I need someone to start dropping combo vids for characters in this game bc the tutorial is so bad and the only way you can work tech is by trial and error lol
