The game is a sci-fi fantasy adventure, turn based rpg. you travel across the cosmos on a futuristic steam locomotive, visiting planets and interacting with the inhabitants, establishing a bond with the people. The people who you travel with are known as the ‘Astral Express Crew’, they follow the teaching's of a deceased celestial being named Akivili, The Trailblaze. This is a very simple, spoiler free, summary of what the game is about. There’s so much lore in this game, you don’t need to play any of Mihoyo’s previous games to enjoy it.

About your questions about characters story. Yes you learn their background through their story or special companion missions but the depth variants on each character. Silver Wolf, Kafka and Blade belong to the same group. The last video wasn’t a character trailer but “Myriad Celestial” one - they are mostly to further Lore but some characters like Sparkle also have their own.

I got into Honkai Star Rail just 2 months ago and it's been a lot of fun. Even if you don't get into the gacha mechanics the story is worth playing through.

Job classes do exist in this game, but they're not so much real jobs as philosophy of combat. The game already has Paths - effectively, philosophies that may or may not grant reality-bending power by aligning yourself with the concept represented by one (or more, depending on the person and willingness of the Paths to share). You can safely assume that any faction with enough power to be interstellar in this setting is following a Path, although that doesn't mean every member of the faction most identifies with their "official" one. For the purposes of the game's combat system, characters will broadly fall under one of the following types (note: everybody can contribute meaningfully in attacking some subset of enemies regardless of how much damage their attacks are doing): * Destruction: Damage dealer with some form of personal survivability, focused on the opponents dropping before they do. * Preservation: Protector or tank whose focus is on somehow preventing injuries from happening to your side. Most commonly generating shields that soak up incoming damage, but there are alternative approaches. * Abundance: Healer, can usually counter attrition tactics that might ultimately overwhelm Preservation. (Or not.) * The Hunt: Heavy damage dealer focusing on single targets while having lowered aggro. And we have no idea how good that group is as villains yet: they're absolutely very dangerous to ordinary people, yet in another sense they're a form of comedy relief that works because it refuses to acknowledge itself. ...And they really were formally invited to the place they intend to destroy. By their primary target. And everybody else they plan to hit seems to know they're coming.

She's a street performer & streamer; there's an entire permanent event about getting her more social media followers by "ghost hunting". This game can be goofy as hell, it's great.

I would love to see you playthrough at least the story, and companion missions of the game. There are some awesome moments, and there is still some animation trailers that are super badass that feel straight out of an anime.

Long story short she's from a race of dragon people that live for a long time, and due to events before the game starts she's sorta stuck in a stasis that makes her look like a child, through no fault of her own. She is an adult, and a practicing medical doctor, but is a bit of a gremlin. The game is a turn-based JRPG with a linear story with gacha. You can have 4 characters in a party, and there are broad "classes" called Paths. "Preservation" = tank, "Abundance" = healer, "Nihility" = debuffer, "Harmony" = buffer, etc. Characters also have an element, like Fire, Ice, Quantum, etc.

Would definitely recommend checking out the myriad celestia trailers and the animations for more context on the story and some of the characters.

The cool thing about Silver Wolf is that she was playing her counterpart in another of Mihoyo's game, Honkai Impact 3rd.

Would definitely watch if you decided to stream the game. The story is decently easy to follow, but alot of its concepts (Such as who and what Aeons are, and various faction motivations) are explained in lore notes you get, so that part of the story can get confusing if your not constantly reading those. Chat could explain it to you if need be though. As for the game, yea its a jrpg, and your party is made up of 4 gacha-rolled characters and each has different abilities and specialties, alongside elemental types. It will feel familiar to Persona, just without the One More mechanic and more variation in how each party member works.

5:05 There are anime shorts that have been made of certain events in the game's story that happen off screen. But those can be seen as spoilers. Best you watch them with context if you plan to play the game.

all the character have a story in game.. and there's multiple main storylines! also you didn't see Acheron yet!!! she's amazing and cool... the game as various planets each has a different story,, but some character cross the stories.... you can have 4 character in a team.... oh and Bailu a kid her species instead of procreation use reincarnation...... this last trailer is relevant to your future well now present reaction on the Acheron black swan animated trailer.... these badguy are the annihilation gang from the animation short

Do it! I love people exploring they story of HSR. You won't believe how good it is for a free game. Even if you are not into gacha, or even "hating" the thought of it, the story is worth playing. Also a very fun non spoilery video to watch is the old beta trailer "Space Comedy". The comedy aspect of the game mostly shines in side content and finding eastereggs and similar things

I don't know if you are aware of this but you watched the trailers from newest to oldest. You probably noticed that the last ones you watched were a little shorter and more simple. I'm guessing that's because they wanted to put out a lot when the game released to get people interested and also they probably have a larger advertising budget now that the game has caught on. Also something you didn't catch was that Gepard (paladin good boy) was singing Serval's (rock star) song to himself. That's actually because she's his older sister.

The basic rule of (successful) gacha games is that they have to make you care about the characters, because the characters are what they're trying to sell you. If you didn't have any attachment to them it'd be far less profitable. So story-wise, they're written like long-running TV shows with a steadily growing cast of characters, with each new episode giving special focus to newer ones.

i want you to know that dr Ratio you got one copy of him for free and he did the most based thing he send a message to every single player naming the message your engagment pretty much making a harem all the current players of the game(or thats the fun way to look at it )

If you thought that was a lot of characters, then you'll be surprised to know, almost all of them were what we call 5 stars, rarer character to get but can be strong, only the last 2 characters before the man made of flames are so called 4 stars, their other game Genshin Impact has trailers like this just called demos you might like to watch, but it's longer as it contains both 5 stars and 4 stars characters.

Current 2.0 story looks really good and have massive potential but the previous planet story feel abit rushed so it can be hit or miss. Currently there are about 30-40hours worth of Main+characters story content and since its free, its definitely worth it. Just beware that it is very expensive if you want to get every characters but if you play regularly you can save up gems to get characters you want.

i'm playing since launch, recently started honkai impact 3rd because they introduced a new storyline for new players, i love short games and these are not short but you can just enjoy the main story and forget about them for a while wich is like having continuations to a game you love every few months. playing gacha games casually is fine just don't get adicted. pls don't get adicted this stuff can be as harmfull as casino gambling.

I Really enjoy these animations so much. Honkai: Star Rail from a marketing standpoint is not but a success. However I can't really get into the gameplay or at least not for long. I know there's gonna be a lot of people that will hate me for saying this. But I like Genshin Impact just a bit more.
