Ran into a fellow 20 years ago at a wedding. He busted out this move on the dance floor, much to the shock and amusement of other guests. I got up from my table to join him. We’ve been friends ever since.
Just heard of them a couple days ago at age 50. That’s 50 years wasted! Wishing to buy all 25 albums now. Love them! All their styles! All of it! Long live Sparks 💕
Sparks - long may they reign, absolutely brilliant, just as good today as I remember them as a youngster in the 70's & 80's. As for Ron's dance the highlight, great pair of guys😃👍
I was fortunate enough to see Ron Mael performing this dance it was " Completely Unexpected " But a " Brilliant Spectacle " None the less !!!! From Adrian Browne 1965
I remember when "this town aint big enough" came out, because Ron had a hitler moustage and then this strange stage appearance, and that alone was half the succes of the song because now everybody wanted to see that weird looking guy and became the talk of the town. "did you see that dude with the hitler stache?" Anyway, i love them them both and they are still on top of their game after all those years and on their age that is amazing!
He has charisma. I was watching rage last month when the song When l’m. With You by Sparks. And l couldn’t stop looking at the guy sitting there as a ventriloquist operator. Since then l’ve bought the song and is on my rotation. Along with there other song Music that you can dance to from one of my all time favourite kids film Rad.
From the moment Sparks appeared I rushed out and bought their FIRST vinyl LP ' Kimono My House'....and played it constantly!! This was also a deciding factor (amongst others like Jean Michel Jarre and Giorgo Moroder) that got me into the long line of synthesizers Ive had over the years and guitars! Yes Ron was scary to me when I was small!
Back in the 1970s, a lot of us guys dreamed of being alpha rock gods like Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, or Jim Morrison. But in reality, most of us were more like, well, like Ron Mael. He is the anti-rock star!
He would probably be wearing a pair of his collected Air Jordans too..he loves them apparently! Never seen Sparks Live....been listening a long time though❤
James Davis whats happened to the new docu film? it was supposed to be out at end of July in UK cinemas, ads everywhere then nothing, no trace of it, just pre order on you tube???? What happened to it? Im from UK
He’s a dreamboat. That’s why. Also, he’s brilliant and funny and doesn’t take himself seriously. I find that incredibly attractive. Doesn’t matter how old he is.🖤
Yes. Looking back at the earlier 80's footage after he changed the 'tash' and not pulling faces, he is quite handsome, and when he smiles,..... well enough said!!
Mrs Richards: " I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
when I saw Sparks they were the support band and "this town" had just charted, a lot of people seemed to think they were some sort of comedy act, a bit of a novelty and scoffed at them I thought they were what was going to happen next, they looked and sounded brand new a different to everyone else, they had a memorising stage presence and were more accomplished than the main band that night, I can't even remember who the main band was it so long back, might have been eddy & the hot rods or Dr Feelgood maybe the blockheads, someone like that anyways, half a century back now !
