OK I am an African-American guy pushing 60 living in the tri-state area and for all the international people that means I am in New York, Connecticut or New Jersey. It’s very very different from what you might see on TV and movies. I seriously did not know these guys were American. When I was about 13 years old I saw them on television and just naturally assumed that they were European. It’s clear to see that they have a lot of European influence partially due to their Russian and Austrian ancestry. I saw this documentary on Netflix and I was amazed. I am officially a Sparks fan now. I must’ve played this song 20 times in the last week alone
My friend said she was at a Sparks concert and got pushed up to the stage by a swarm of people. She said that Ron was right in front of her doing this dance. She said "I was so dumbfounded I forgot to get a video or picture🤣
I was very surprised to find out that these guys were American, and I am an American! I always thought these guys were German. This is absolutely the best version of the band, a little trio. This is actually my favorite song by sparks
Ron's dancing at the start with that electronic music and beat is just joyous. Pair it up Christi Haydon in that dress makes the performance just class. I remember this being on TV back in the day well. First time I heard of Sparks actually if I remember correctly.
Dude, I know this comment is pretty old, but you saved my OCD ass right here! I remembered the video to "When do I get to sing my way" which I was pretty into when I was like... 9 years old. XD I really like to look up who was starring in these videos that were important in my childhood and I couldn't find her name anywhere (Wikipedia doesn't mention it, imdb doesn't mention it, only if you knew who she is you could find out via these sources)! Also good to find out that way she indeed was the drummer on the tour and not just a pretty face to stand in for some session musician who wasn't interesting enough to show on stage.
@@bobfromberlin You'll be interested to learn that she also appeared on several episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation as a member of the bridge crew manning one of stations at the back of the bridge, plus at least once at the helm, and then in Ten Forward during a party. The episode with the party was #24 of season #5. You can find more info if you do a search.
@@bobfromberlin She also released a solo single written by Ron, and produced by Sparks. It was called 'What Would Katharine Hepburn Say?' You'll find it on YT. And she also did a cover version of the Bee Gees song 'Holiday', (not sure if this was the B side to 'What Would Katherine Hepburn Say?').
Hey it’s very unlikely that these guys will get into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. Not saying that actually means anything. However due to the Netflix documentary I realize that I remember these guys when I was probably about 13 years old. They were an interesting odd blip. After watching the documentary I started realizing how talented and creative these guys were and I’m basically a big fan now. Are they going to make Mick Jagger/ Paul McCartney money? No . But I think they’re going to gain a Lotta new fence as a result of the documentary and they friggin deserve it! I don’t know about you but I’m buying a whole bunch of sparks stuff right now
I agree! I remember Sparks from 1974 (I'm 68 this year) so I wondered what they would do in the 90s. Brilliant. later in the same show they did This Town Ain't Big Enough with Gerard Butler from Indie Pop band Suede on guitar. Great days!
The lady on drums is Christie Haydon - a musician/actress who has appeared in Star Trek The Next Generation, and yes, Christie is incredibly gorgeous... (:o)
бест спаркс..94 у меня сын родился..и это так и было..а группа супер это альтернатива посе..хоть это и есть поп..но он должен быть..таким а не пугачевой
Awesome! I´m alphamale 32 this year.. I discovered them like two years ago from an ex cop in a sobriety house downtown Reykjavik and i fell in "musiclove" with these there then Sparks, or was it these two genius brothers (knew nothing of them and thought it was a lady (though deep one as such) singing but it was a crazy dude wqith exellent humour and his awesome bro .. and others probably who helped makes this awesomeness a possibility, Is it all sparks? :)) we´ll never know. Sparks-Propaganda [Full Album] 1974 I´m an "all eater" on music,, but it has to be good. so here´s some. Thanks . Will not turn my back on mom or my Earth :) unless im going for a travel, then its not even figuratively (or i could just have a rotating cockpit if you wanna get technical on interpretation and lawyer it up with not a shred of intelligence :) hehe ty sparks !! awesome stuff you made
Она ещё была на вокале в пяти песнях расширенной версии альбома (gratuitous sax and senseless violins), рекомендую послушать. Catharine Hepburn, Titanic, Boris the spider, Othello, Holiday.
That movie, was the first thing I ever acted in, and I also got to dance in the dance scene's! let me tell you that was some party, for a young kid from Indiana! The whole band back then was great, and they were always so friendly! How they are not in the RR hall of fame is beyond me! Russel I believe could have taken the place of Freddy when he passed! I believe he was offered actually! Well thanks for listening!
I 'faved' this years ago - Why can't i fuckin' 'fave' it again, and again, and again... Lol! I so love Christie Haydon! I so love Sparks... Wow! Such memories... \m/ (:o)
I just saw the Netflix documentary. I am officially a fan and I think this is the best version of this particular song. Like and share!By the way has a 59-year-old African-American social Democrat living in the United States, in New Jersey. Somebody who remembers sparks from the 1970s, nobody knows who fucking Charlie Parker is. You have to be a hard-core jazz fan to remember that name. And there’s not many hard-core jazz fans in the United States of America at this point. I wouldn’t even say 1%
Funny thing is they live 2 miles from my house in Los Angeles! My girlfriend use to break into Russel's house when he was gone, and try on all his costumes! You remember the sparkly suit!? LOL I was dating his bass players niece, so I got back stage to all their concerts back in the day! They were popular here back then, but Europe thank God has kept them on the map! Little story! I was at one of Russel's party's at his house, and I met a director for a movie called Breathless w/ Richard Gere!
@AK2927 speaking fo, who ist that lady ? she is not being listed as to who or what she is to sparks. I would appreciate some update on this one to close the gap
Saw them live this year and not much has changed, especially for Russel. Ron still does his little dance and Russel is still jumping around like in this vid here.
Lady on drums (oh, she is in clip too) - have no words...only kisses for her.. Unclear state of the public to me. They are looking like a russian soviet pioneers in a dull party in a low school. This is THE SPARKS! They cannot understand it?
