Sparring is here and I couldn't be more excited! Let's check out how useful it is, both as a way to fend off attackers and just for fun with friends! Join my discord: / discord #theisleevrima #theisle #diabloceratops
Been a fan of sparring since I first heard of it, I would love to have it for all playables, the first thing I thought of for sparring was raptor hatchlings playfighting.
Great fighting and use of terrain, especially the last fight. Those were all key tips and good advice for diablo combat as well. You learned the hard way, first hand, nice job 👍🏻
Thanks! I knew my death was pretty well unavoidable, but every death is a lesson learned! Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes and not endure as many deaths as a result!
another great video, that cera fight was interesting considering it's kav (who i have some hefty opinions on). that herrera like jump you did on his buddy was super funny probably gave them a scare haha. wish i had a friend to try out sparring with 😔 (yes i know this is a second comment but this is right after i finished watching the video)
I don't see a reason to complain bout kav. My main problem w his content is the amount of complaining he usually does about people complaining about him. As long as folk play no rules servers it's completely reasonable for there to be cannis & KOSers. Nature of the beast.
@@Val-hz3fc it's not the KOS that bugs me, it's the fact that (at least in his older videos i don't watch him much anymore) he always complains about "roleplayers", and how anymore who doesn't like how he plays are "roleplayers". it bugs me because it's hypocritical for him to say that and then say "you can play this game anyway you want and i chose to fight!". maybe he isn't like that anymore but that's the main reason why i dislike him. also the fact he needs 20 friends to kill stuff is also kinda irritating but as seen in metta's video it was only him and 1 other person
That charged attack on stego was a mistake for the devs to add, and the entire segment with the stego, up to and including the deinos killing for sport, is like a built-in advertisement for why this game relies on good semi-realism / full realism servers to be playable.
For reals. That stego had killed probably 5 other dibbles off-camera before attacking our herd that morning. And then the deinos were so clearly being mocking about grabbing me. It was so ridiculous I couldn't help but laugh
@@Dragonn6667 Meanwhile any herbivore that's not adorned in horns or spikes gets asthma and stupidly complex controls so that running isn't an option, but to fight requires stupid amounts of practice (and dying) just to survive against carnivores that can W+M1 and win.
To be fair a stego should be able to have a charged attack it just shouldn’t be doing that much damage (even I think a full power shot from a stego to the head would kill almost everything except big ceratopsians)
@@0wonder the power swing doesn't one shot an adult dibble if it's a head shot due to their increased defense against head hits. But will absolutely one shot most everything as it does 2k damage
Well I am glad you had a better experience getting this footage "hopefully". Though it is unfortunate that you ran into those deino and Kav the Dibble slayer lol. But thank you for the tips! Was aware that rmb and ctrl were two different things when I was testing sparring.
@@DodoTacticsGaming I definitely thought that might be the case honestly. He had already been mixpacking with dilos, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he called in the deinos too
I think Sparring is nice, and I love it. Dibble as a whole looks really nice. However, when it comes to mutations and the grapple... its something. Some mutations are legit just built for less grouping up and more people killing of your own kind. While other mutations are great and I feel will greatly improve people nesting (as nested in babies get mutations from their parents, just not the special mutations you need to do things to have) However on the other hand theres grapple which is just, it needs work, alot of work. It makes Raptor more like a right click to win thing, and while it does greatly discourage cannibalism and encourages working together as a group I feel large groups will easily be able to clean up a ton of things pretty easily.
I.... Hate grapple. Honestly I have found it to increase instances of cannibalism among raptors because there's so many. Duo raptors tend to be murdered on sight because those packs use canni+heal while eating to be essentially immortal in fights. I haven't been able to get any grapple footage recorded because each time I reached adult, I was immediately killed. It's very frustrating
For reals. I was so disappointed. I was doing so well and had rallied the rest of the dibbles to attack too. But I didn't get to stay and finish the job
Really love the sparing, and as you said aspects of it are very useful in actual combat with enemies, as for the Omni pounce to pin mechanic it's a great idea, but be warned its over tuned for testing purposes and needs to be toned down a lot before it goes live
@@dinometta Managing Stam now is even more important, if you are below 25% I think you can be pinned, the more that jump you the higher you need your Stam (don't quote me), has to be toned down, but let them test, but feedback from us is super important on this matter
As of rn I LOVE sparing it adds so much more to the game especially when ur bored and wanna fight ur friends. Without killing them 😭 not only that but it seems like ur movement in sparing is rly good I haven’t gotten that good at sparing movement yet so when fighting more agile creatures I just tend to use our drift tune to fight since we turn like shit it also very useful when fighting things like ceras utahs and other agile Dino’s I always ends up fucking them up bc they nevere exspected me to drift and tune instantly there way knocking them down😊
I’ve also found out that the gore attack we do does WAYYYY more blows than normal so when I can after I knock and enemy over I try and use the downward plus lmb move to kill my targets and if it doesn’t finish them they end up bleeding out
I hope they take their time with this hordetest. As much as I want a lot of this stuff live already, there's so much to it that's still so funky. Like how dibble moves in sparring mode is ... a little odd. Def get what they were going for, but it almost seems like it can move around a bit too much? Like when you're fighting the first cera in the video you're kinda just sliding all over the ground. Love being able to maneuver, but the speed at which you cover ground in that stance seems nutty. Also once again can't believe they gave stego that new attack 😅
I like that dibble can actually move in sparring stance, as it is so incredibly slow normally. But I also had the daytime speed buff which gives a pretty noticeable boost compared to base speed
@@dinometta Ohh maybe that was it. I agree that it should be able to move really well in spar stance, it was just SO fast so maybe it was the mutation boost!
If you decide to use omni in your next video, be very careful. A lot of the raptors canni just for and pin you literally just for the fun of the animation. Today I tried the isle, plenty of food, was playing with a guy I met, he asked me a question and as I started typing he pinned me. I couldn't escape and only could until he got off me, and then I bled out in seconds.
Yeah, I tried to record raptor but... Between the horrendous lag, the stupid mixpacking cannis, and everything, I got frustrated and decided to play carno instead. Wiping canni raptors off the face of the planet is my new goal
@@dinometta Hordetesting updated again, and you need 2 people to grapple now(If you want to learn more about it, a guy called Kouga made a video called on it.)
Lmao xD I hoped maybe I could get to the sand bar and keep them in the water and away from me for a minute xD but uhhhh must have slipped my mind that cerato is an incredibly strong swimmer
The settings are a bit broken, if you hit apply on your settings before or after joining a server, it helps boost your FPS. I recommend doing it before joining a server as that's what personally works for me, and hitting apply on your settings when you're already in a server can cause the textures to disappear (which indeed gives a massive FPS boost xD)
At least I didn't look like a complete dingus until I herrerra leaped down the hill leeeerooooyyyy style in a hail Mary attempt to kill one of the two xD
I think strafing mode itself actually IS the block, Im not sure if holding rmb while using spar mode actually does anything different since sparring mode is enabled? But idk, I only tried it like once and I did notice that “strafing” is 100% a block due to the lowered head in the animation, just not sure if you can do it while sparring lol.
@@dinometta ok somehow I never saw this reply and forgot about my comment but a month ago or so I tried diablo again and from my experience strafing is block and sparring is offensive, and from what I experienced you can strafe or block while in spar mode as long as you hold rmb, otherwise you’ll release your block and go back into sparring mode.
I was only upper yellow, the blood screens are wonky. But nah, I was like 30% and he was a sub adult. For our size difference I was surprised it went as well as it did
@@dinometta Was a decent fight you had with the 2v1 ceratos, honestly I thought you had it till you took all that fall DMG, and a lot more than that drop looked like it would cause lol. Good video to, 👍🏻👍🏻
@@derpyou8679 Yeah, I thought I did as well, but when I watched the cerato's side, they were probably at most on yellow, and that was after I leaped down the hill xD it was still a fun fight though, good learning experience!
Have you deleted your config file and verified your game files? I know there's been a lot of fatal errors, I've had a few. As well as screen freezes that appear like crashes but resolve themselves within about 20 seconds
Diablo's existance kinda irks me, but not because of Diablo itself. The movement looks awesome, but now it makes all other playables look less like animals and more like vehicles. It just seems silly to me that dibble can move so well when other quadrupedes cant. Are they planning on adding sparring to other ceratopsians? Cause it'd look similarly silly if, say, only one rapter playable had the pounce mechanic. Also what are the rewards for interspecies sparring besides bullying other dibbles and passing the time?
Yes, I believe all ceratopsians will be able to utilize sparring. As for rewards for sparring, as far as I know, currently none. But with mutations in the game, it's possible there's a hidden lifestyle mutation or two connected with the mechanic
And this is why I generally dislike videos like “how to get this” because saltwater deinos WOULD be rare if of course there didn’t have to be videos going over the “secret mutations” and they were suprisingly simple to get. Once a deino gets a saltwater mutation, unless it starves its able to 100% survive in saltwater which is really weird and annoying. I do hope some mutations that need drawbacks get drawbacks at some point, being able to drink saltwater with no drawbacks is insane.
Believe it or not, the horde test and evrima are the same thing. Live branch and the horde test though, yup, different. But considering Diablo pretty clearly isn't in live branch yet... I think we can use our deductive reasoning to guess which branch this video took place on x]
u can 1v1 stego on dible. 1. u are way faster 2. u can stun them 3. u can stun em with weird tail hitboxes 4. stego will either bleed out if u are solo or die of dmg if u aint solo 5. just dont play stupid...
I just can't support the isle anymore tbh. I lost interest after evrima was announced so long ago now. The progress they've made just feels... Dumb? Segmented? Why do we have stego and Deinosuchus, and not magyaro, or maia and allo or Sucho? Despite me having uninstalled bob do to similar tocmmunity problems... I still think Path of titans has the most potential, they just need to make questing more interesting and being adult more interesting.
Your opinions are fair and valid, honestly my biggest issue with PoT is that the official side of the game is just not fun. Between encouraging mixpacking, questing taking 3 days to grow a single small playable, and clans annihilating solo players, their dev team's ideas for the game are not much better. Without mods and community servers, the game is unplayable for solo players like myself
