Thanks, guys, for the shout-outs. So good to see Rich has got his coral spawning mojo back. I would love to help out in getting more people doing this at home. I've spawning and rearing corals in my home system in the family kitchen to teach my boys the process. We've managed to do 9 species now, so would love to give some tips and tricks on how others can do this.

First episode of Reef Therapy I've ever watched online! Haven't checked in since Jake and Mark recorded it live in Atlanta last year, got a seat right in front of their table lol Perfect episode to tune in for, as I am working on a coral spawning project right now. I'm working at decoding Cynarina, so far no luck but I'm figuring it out. The first, and only, conversation I had with Jake before he passed was at the Aquatic Expo, right after him and Mark recorded the live episode. I was there to buy the broodstock for my spawning project, so we talked for a while about it and it was a genuine, wonderful experience. I just wished he would be around to see it come to fruition. Keep doing what you're doing guys.

Thanks for watching! Every time I hear a story about an interaction with Jake it's described in that very same way. We miss him and his enthusiasm for the hobby on a daily basis! Keep us posted on your project - we'd love to follow along! ~Remy

I personally love the idea of captive spawned corals. But I personally think the best use case is optimized species for survival in captivity and of corse new "designer" variations in colors and morphology. Yes, clownfish were once impossible to breed. Not only is that process understood today, but we can manipulate it. We can do selective breeding over time to highlight or mute different traits. Much like every other species humans have bred over generations, we now have designer clown fish which are often far better adapted to captive systems. So too could our corals. That's the potential of hobby coral spawning

Cannabis and hops are actually in the same family: Cannabaceae!

Another fun science hippy fact: Hackberry, blue sandalwood, and trema orientalis trees are a part of the Cannabaceae family.
