All I can picture is your hotel neighbors being like "WTF?! Is he ok?? He's randomly singing, laughing and sobbing" hahahaha .. you are ALL of us when this album dropped honestly lmao .. the whole world came together with asthma-inducing bedroom dance parties 😂
Her vault tracks are songs that she wrote back then, most of them during the speak now era. But some of them are from different eras. Ally Shehan explains this in a lot of her videos! Hope this helped!
oh my god i was at the concert the day it came out and im still so sad it ended. like we got an extra speak now song (long live), we got the i can see you mv premiere, taylor lautner, joey king, and presley kash went on stage, and we got never grow up and when emma falls in love for surprise songs. LIKE WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE ALL THAT LOL
I love your reactions and analysis! Mean isn't actually about John Mayer its about Bob Lesfetz who was a prominent music critic (in his 40s-50s) who hated Taylor swift's singing voice. He honestly hasn't had a career since. The vault songs are written at the time but they are produced by a different production team than the original speak now songs which is why they feel a little out of place sometimes.
According to Taylor, all of those songs were written when she was 18-20 with the exception of "Sparks Fly" which Swift wrote in 2006, and sang it few times live, thus making a fan ask her to feature it on her third studio album, so she re-done this track in 2010, so um yes
the lyrics too… Speak Now (the song) has some funny lyrics lol 😂 like “Snotty little family all dressed like a pastel” and “wearing a gown shaped like a pastry” But in enchanted she said “Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy, vanished when I saw your face” when other singers would’ve said something like “the boring empty room lit up once I saw you” like WHAT A WAY WITH WORDS TAYLOR
Honestly on my first listen things felt a little flat and quiet, not as hard hitting. Turns out my Spotify audio normalisation setting was on and after I turned it off, it was so much better!!! Apparently it’s been a problem with a lot of reactors!! So just check that’s not on when you are listening.
@@jasonpaulkim Don’t worry!!! Me neither till I watched HTHaze’s stream and he was complaining about the audio being off or overly mixed. Even the ad-libs in BTR were much easier to hear!!
The vault songs were written in that specific era but didn't make the cut for one or the other reason. But when Taylor's relreleasing them, since nobody's heard most of these songs before, she can totally change the production of these songs (who knows maybe she even makes some other changes) so that's why the production sounds different! Also you'll notice that the speak now vault tracks make so much more use of taylor's lower range as compared to the standard album tracks, so I'm guessing she might also have changed the key of some songs to better showcase her now developed lower vocal range.
I became a taylor fan since midnigjts so I waited with listening to speak now until taylor's Version and well on july 7th I listend to the whole Album for the first time and you're right. It is such a banger. Didn't know country could be this good.
What I really love abt TS reaction videos is that it’s so interesting to see which songs ppl love and how that differed from the songs I love. Like while I enjoy Haunted, you’re clearly a much bigger fan of it than I am and on the flip side, I love all six minutes of Last Kiss, while that felt too long for you. Or how When Emma Falls In Love was your standout vault track thanks to the production while mine was Timeless bc I love its storytelling. I think this just shows how broad Taylor’s appeal is and if one song doesn’t quite do it for you, another one definitely will.
you roasted dear john so hard 😭😭 either way I loved the video your top five songs are all literal bangers and I can’t wait for the 1989 tv reaction 💜💜💜
OMG HE FINALLY ADMITTED TO BEING A SWIFTIE 😮i can rest easy now 😭 listening to speak now tv was such a workout, like i had to sing and dance to basically the entire album 😪personally i'm in love with all of the vault tracks, especially i can see you (if you haven't already, you GOTTA watch the music vid) anyways, thanks for the reaction and review! your vids really put a smile on my face! :) AND YES STORY OF US SLAPS SO FUCKING HARD
beyond happy with the re-recording and the vault (I Can See You and Electric Touch are so For Me, I've been a big Fall Out Boy fan almost as long as I've loved Speak Now) of my favorite album here, it just got better and I don't get how some people nitpicking are acting like she ruined the songs or brought absolutely no emotion to the table. to me this is her best re-recording of the original tracks easily. Fearless TV might be the most faithful but personally I wanted a slight vocal and production change for this album. also idec about Better Than Revenge getting a single lyric change because for me the production and the adlibs slap so much harder than the og. Her best bars/insults were in the second verse anyways, they're more specific than "she fucks" LOOOL. It was my favorite song on this album as a kid and over time the dated production set it back in comparison to more lyrically interesting songs, but now it's back up in my ranking again. I'm very happy with that.
last kiss is INITIALLY about joe jonas (the secret message is forever & always, a song she wrote about joe jonas in fearless), but now she has another joe to relate to that song...
I understand the doubt around the timeline of when vault tracks were written but between leaks and people finding the registration of the song demos through Sony, there has been a lot of info out there for years dating back to the Speak Now era. You can find the information compiled by dedicated fans on the TS subreddit. Obviously there will likely be some editing of lyrics, melodies or production updates but the essence of the songs will likely be the same.
I personally felt super strong about the lyric change in the beginning bc i love the original song so so much but then she said the original was from anger against someone who stole her boy and the change is about growing up and realizing that nobody can take someone who doesn't want to leave and i actually like that perspective a lot and also now us swifties have two versions and can choose what we prefer 🥰
she wrote the vault tracks at about the same time she wrote the other tracks for speak now, she said all that in the prologue for the album that comes with the vinyl!
this reaction is just what no one wants to show of them listening to taylor swift. mad respect for putting this out there ❤️ loved the video of course :)
she wrote the vaults when she wrote the rest of the album (around 2009) but the production is obviously totally reimagined. like for example i can see you would probably have been an acoustic song with the original release if it was on the record but since its in the re release the production is wayy more modern
Ur hilarious. 😂 I’ve watched ur TS journey and it was super fun watching ur 1st, 2nd now 3rd SN reactions, it was like watching one of those video loading circles where u finally got to 100% loaded and it all clicked. PS- I hope Carlos is okay 💜🫶
Also, you probably already know now but it's holding the matches, not loading. I'm really happy with the lyric change, I always hated the og lyrics. And my fave Vault track is Electric Touch. Loved the vid, JPK!
Love the new template so much 💜 I feel like it was just yesterday when you didn't really vibe with this album. Now, you're bringing out some moves and maybe busting a knee lol And omg Carlos that poor guy 😭
DUDE i loved your video!! It was so fun to watch you sing and learn your point of view! Also, i really liked your editing and the different camera angles throughout the video, smart filming. Thank you for the content ❤
So surprised to hear WEFIL is your favorite cause it’s actually my least favorite. But I love that we all have these wildly different opinions cause it just shows there’s no good or bad music, just things that are for or not for you. I feel like of all of them, the one I struggle to believe was written around speak now era is timeless. At that point, she had never dated a guy for long enough to write “the story started when you said hello in a crowded room a few short years ago.” Unless of course she wrote it through the lens of someone else but it definitely seems like something she could have written about Joe A. Especially because the lyric is “in a crowded room a few short years ago” and then she also uses that in dress “our secret moments in a crowded room” and they famously did meet in a crowded room, whether it’s Gigi’s party or the met gala. Could she have potentially written this during a different era and put it on speak now tv to avoid people linking it to Joe? Who knows. All I know is it has become my number 1 fav Taylor swift song of all time which is insane that a vault track jumped that high.
She wrote it for her grandparents, that’s why we hear a lot of specific years. It’s not about her relationship or feelings specifically. You can watch the lyric video for that.
"Embrace the looser side of you" bro that's my new motto, I like that ! Great video by the way ! 😁 Also I was wondering what you thought of the "I Can See You" music video if you already saw it
ngl, speak now was never my favourite album but i hold a lot of sentiment for it, cause speak now songs were one of my first taylor songs i listened to (aka overplayed) in middle school and now im halfway through college and its just... its just a lot for a girlie like me, okay. so i hold it close to my heart (plus it has A LOT of bangers that i live for) as for vault tracks, my favs are electric touch (idk i just love the vibe plus its SO RELATABLE for me rn, idk how taylor allison swift does it and where she hid the camera to watch my life, literally) and i also am so in love with timeless... cause its everything i want in life really. im a hopeless romantic just like that anyway, great re-recording, as a die hard swiftie i love it with my heart body and soul
i LOVE the mattress line SO MUCH but like two things: one taylor originally didn't like the line and two i mean she wouldve gotten cancelled if she didnt change the lyric
i aint gona be biased and say that when emma falls in love is my fav bc im called emma but it is my fav. the build up just gives me such goosebumps and its just such a roller-coaster to me and i love ao much about it. i think i was more surprised with castles crumbling tho at how chill it was but stilk a good song :)
IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY IN A VIDEO, you should definitely listen to if this was a movie tv. Because speak now is supposed to be a completely self written album , taylor took that song off and released it earlier before sntv .
Bro I luv yr Chanel so much like how do you have 10k subs WHAT!!your sooo underrated 😥 Also thank you so much for not making this vid 1 hour and a half.
btw theres a taylor swift spotify playlist changer that you can use to update all your playlists instead of just manually doing it yourself;;;;, it saved me so much time lolol
On my first listen my favorite vault tracks were I can see you and foolish one but i’m not sure if i can see you is still my #1. I loved haunted TV and Mine, sparks fly, mean. And the mv for i can see you was sooo fun
not complaining about a new taylor vid and would never, keep it up! would like to see more videos from you not specifically taylor (even though taylor videos would be great) (15.7.2023 1:01am clip) (1)
Re: when vault tracks were "written". A song is considered to be written when it has its structure, lyrics and chords nailed down. So these tracks could all have been in an extremely barebones state, not even a strumming pattern picked out, for the past 14 years. But the production choices made for this release are probably all very modern, informed by the retrospective understanding of Speak Now's sound and tricks and influences picked up since. While for the re-records Taylor works with producer Christopher Rowe to nail the original sound and style of producer Nathan Chapman, the 6 Vault tracks are brand new productions and she went back to the Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff wells to fill those songs out with very different sounds that stood alongside those 2010 tracks to varying degrees of success.
controversial opinion but if u feel like a re-recording isn’t as good u don’t need to replace it…like if back to december didn’t hit then it wouldn’t hurt to keep that one song
