You must be kidding me. What can I say, I don't think I've EVER seen a project quite like this. People build ass sorts of stuff but this is out of left field. Nice work!

Ok, coming from someone who fixes cassette players as a hobby, dont fucking do this, its completely moronic, ruins the case of the deck, irreversible, and speakers you can never turn off, the leds i *guess* are ok since they arent as pronounced as the speakers, also adding all these irreversible mods to the deck really just ruins the unit, nobody would go on ebay looking for this thing

Even though you did the work flawlessly, I think the original cabinet shoud've left as it is. Those speakers on the top look like a cheap mod job. An eye sore. Apart from that your work is real good.

Good work but I'm thinking if those big speaker's magnets inside of the machine aren't detrimental to the sound.

🤨 🤭..... he didn’t make protective grills for those woofers - risk of being stab damage from things being accidentally dropped on them, and the ill effect of upward firing - he will be forever vacuuming dust out of them 🙁. If I had hacked this double cassette deck - would have gone through further effort of unsoldering the volume pot from the amplifier PCB, and drilled a hole on the front of the deck (in a spare/unoccupied area not occupied by existing controls and decals) and mounted the pot there, and soldered wires from it to the amplifier, and assuming that amplifier has full-range outputs? I would cut a hole in the back of the deck and put speaker terminals in it and wire the full-range outputs to them, and buy a pair of used/vintage HIFI speakers (attempt to get the same brand/manufacture of the cassette deck). If TE had done my stated hack, he would have still been able to put it in a cabinet and would not have the dust/damage risk problems 😉. I assume he would be able to directly connect a CD player/recorder to it and play CDs and record cassette > CD. I don’t know about connecting a record player to it - I think these need a pre-amp and ground connection to work, and if he added a tuner/radio component to it then he will need a channel selector with pre-amp and ground for the record player and that will have to sit at the side of the stack (because of the upward firing speakers on the cassette deck - that wouldn’t be a problem had he chosen to wire external speakers to it. An interesting hack nevertheless

At first I was convinced you were going to kill that deck. Then I thought, well what the hell. That's all an aged 165 is worth (later I noticed that it was actually a 157). My final conclusion is: good job. Nice of you to have extended its life. PS. I simply adore the background noises, especially the chickeeeen :)

I'm gonna give some honest feedback here, I like the LED mod, hell, it could even be done with incandescent/filament bulbs for older decks if you like the yellow-ish color they give off, but I don't like the speaker mod, because you'll likely be using the deck as a component so the need for the built-in speakers is unnecessary, but all around you did a good job with it.

That is a nice deck that got ruined! But very good craftsmanship!

I like the LED mod, though I'd have probably used warm white to maintain the oldschool look, as back in the day they'd have used little incandescent bulbs due to LED lighting being in its infancy. But cool as it was to see you 3-D print your own speaker enclosures, volume dial and trim rings, I think I'd have left the cabinet alone. Still, enjoyed watching the process.

Hola, sabe que tengo un problema con una radio sony modelo cfs-715s, y resulta que esa radio la conecte a un enchufe para que prendiera luego de casi 2 años que estaba en una bodega de mi casa, encendió, la conecte a radio fm y se escuchaba de maravilla con unos bajos increíbles pero luego de usarla como 1 o 2 horas, de la nada el audio se fue y hasta el día de hoy no sé qué fue lo que pasó, y la desarme para limpiarla ya que tenía muchisimo polvo pegado en todas las piezas, pero como no soy una persona con conocimientos de este dispositivo no sé qué hacer, y vengo a preguntarle ya que usted se ve una persona con mucha experiencia y conocimientos respecto al tema antes de mandarla a arreglar por si me fueran a estafar. Gracias y buen vídeo como siempre!

I tried to do some work on cassette decks: only I have difficulty inserting LED lights: in a couple of devices every time I inserted the LED lights connected to the motor, it worked faster. Awesome idea! If I were you, I'd of used a better amp board with treble and bass control. Simply cause you took the time to make good enclosure's, and cassette's sound muffled. Also Technics shoulda did that idea with the LED's that really bumpped up the look to it. Over all I give you "2 stars" LOL just kiding.... 10+!! Keep making stuff.
