Speaker = Generator (version 2015)

The previous Speaker = Generator version could make 10 LED lights blink once. This one drives one hundred LED lights continuously! (continuously-to-the-eye that is. It would need some electronics in between to make it truly continuously) Here, the magnet is driven by a motor, but you could also make something similar that is driven by human power, or wind, or whatever. The speed of the rotation is sensitive though, because it has to be in sync with the resonant frequency of the speaker.

I have read quite a few comments, and haven't seen a single person mention replacing the electric motor with a geared wind turbine, or even some kind of simple waterwheel. All you have to do is spin the magnet, the motor isn't important, it's the spin. It's not going to power a house, but in a grid down situation, it might be a useful way to use scrap to generate light, or even charge small batteries. You don't have to power a whole house with every nifty generator people can think to make, sometimes, small power is useful all by itself...

@@Firezz389 The magnet is spinning at high speed and vibration on the speaker is created by the magnet spinning motion since when it spins it switches the magnetic poles at very high speed, that creates the vibration.

@Potato Boy it is spinning at high speed, so the changes between magnetic poles create the vibration.

But light isnt constant. Here frequency matters a lot than it may visible. If the speed of vibration isnt in sync then light may seem fluctuating which is not a good thing.

Hi Giesberr, I found really awesome your video, and I'm actually doing it for a Science project, I just have 3 doubts: 1.- what kind of speakers did you used? 2.- you mentioned the frequency of the speaker, is it relevant to light a bunch of leds with your prototype? 3.- what would be the frequency or how do u set the frequency?
@Skhillz_FN
@Skhillz_FN Год назад
Ha too late doesn't matter the "frequency" or even rpm Just that the motor spinning the magnet causes the magnet to alternate between North and south poles perpendicular to the coil or speaker in this case collecting the energy This is actually a decent demonstration of electrical properties if dived into further

Hi Giesbert. A typical clear blue LED as you used are designed to operate at around 25mA with a forward voltage of 3.3V (See Kingbright L-7113QBC-D Datasheet). Since you didn't have a resistor connected to limit the current you would not have had voltage division and looking at the brightness of the LEDs from your video you would have been close to between 20 and 25mA I guess. So, if you would have measured the voltage across your LED array which from what I can tell all LEDs were connected in parallel, you would have measured 3.3V which would be the same as across the coil. With 100 LEDs each drawing 25mA you would have generated around 2.5A at 3.3V. Calculating the produced power, P=I*V this gives 2.5*3.3=8.25Watt. Obviously the actual power developed will be lower since you only used halve wave rectification. I think it would be worth your while to measure the motor power consumption (V and I). You might have a fairly efficient little experiment with more to it than you realize. You could use low voltage schottky diodes to achieve full wave rectification (you can get ones with a forward voltage as low as 0.25V), which means you might only sacrifice around 0.5V and thus still have enough to exceed the minimum LED voltage required. Cheers, Gideon

@Skhillz_FN
@Skhillz_FN Год назад
Nah he could honestly be only generating about a 100 milliamps or less available And is probably getting away with the voltage drop by using them as a sort of bridge rectifier but like a whole bunch of them in parallel to each other which should in theory overlap the capacity of the supply to give and thus not be able to surpass the current/ voltage limit of the LEDs and you don't see it but yeah a capacitor would be a XL Circuit so you can tune the voltage spikes to be just above 3.3 volts "Think about turning on your car battery and finding out it's almost dead Lights are still on and dim too but they are on" Is what I'm saying he did maybe and that's it's possible

Depending on how the LEDs are arranged, you have a half wave rectifier with a giant current draw. For generator purposes, you really only ever want 4 diodes and even then, only in a bridge conformation. As far as this goes, I think you have the beginning of a good microphone. You need transistors now to amplify the signal. there's some DIY non-contact voltage detectors that have some okay ideas on how get some amplification out of a transistor array.

Yes! I love it! Anything that is powered by electricity can also produce it. Not only does this prove what the ancient Egyptian tuning forks and staffs were used for but this also shows us some secrets to free energy and proves Tesla's "theory" was actually fact. However I think it is wicked that many scientists have known for an extremely long time that frequency is the key to clean limitless energy, how to produce it, and instead of using that tech it's hidden instead. It's obvious why.
@DeepThinker193
@DeepThinker193 Год назад
Hmm now I'm thinking that with todays tech we could make a cloth or something that generate energy from vibrations. The clothe could be made from microscopic pieces of copper spaced using a math formula for efficiency. This fabric could for example be placed under a car or on a roof to recuperate energy from the wind/vibrations.

It would be interesting to connect a ribbon with a connection to the speaker either mechanical or magnetic repulsion as you did with the motor.. Place it outside and let the wind move the coil up and down to generate the current spikes.
@GiesbertNijhuis
@GiesbertNijhuis 9 лет назад
+valveman12 Possible. A wind driven version can be made (or a water driven version). If you have a source that vibrates, a magnet & copper wire set up like as in a speaker can be used to generate AC electricity. It is very important to be in resonance. The motor I used to drive the magnetic around, runs at just the right speed at which the speaker wants to resonate. Connecting a magnet to a windmill to drive the speaker with, will be problematic, because the rpm of the windmill will almost never be equal to the resonance frequency of the speaker. But if your source is vibrating, a direct connection will work. The speaker by the way, was just to show how things work. It is not suitable for serious energy generation.
@valveman12
@valveman12 8 лет назад
+Giesbert Nijhuis Not a Wind-generator per se but a ribbon connected to the speaker on one end and the other connected to a standoff.. As the wind blows, it moves the speaker coil creating electricity. Yes this is random but can be added to a cap bank and regulator to store energy into some batteries.
