That isn't even taking into account loopholes are using to avoid paying taxes legally. Removing the IRS's ability to do their job helps the ultra-rich far far more than it helps the rest of us. Defunding the IRS means that they won't have the resources to do complicated audits on large companies and the ultra-rich while at the same time means that normal people like you and me have to wait on the phone for 10 hours just to get a question answered. Again who is this helping?

@@mrblueun1080 No. Those are all very real statistics and represent the reality of things. Is our country perfect right now? Absolutely not. Illegal immigration is a big problem and both sides need to come together to create comprehensive reform (neither side is currently willing to budge on anything related to that comprehensive reform). But other than that things are actually about as good as you could expect given what the entire world just went through. The thing is that a combination of fear-mongering from the right and people's ignorance about how things actually work means that a lot of people don't understand how much worse things could actually be. There are countries in this world right now that are currently experiencing several hundred percent inflation. People think that lowering inflation should mean that prices go down when the reality is that's actually deflation and it would be a very bad sign. Lowering inflation which is what we've been experiencing many months now just means that prices go up at a slower rate. If you get your view of what's going on from actual statistics rather than politicians with an agenda and vloggers you would understand that things could be much much worse.

I think I'm going to have to withdraw my remarks about Gaetz and what he did to oust McCarthy. Speaker Johnson has come into play as the unifier the GOP hasn't had in decades.
