In our ongoing series on Audio Myths, Andrew talks about the power handling of a loudspeaker vs amplifier power. There is a common misconception that if you have a speaker rated to handle 200 watts, and an amplifier rated at 100 watts, that there is no way they could damage their speaker. But that's not actually how it works . . . in today's video, Andrew discusses the reason why this is a myth, standardization issues, what to do if you hear a 'thump', and what to do really quickly if you smell something coming out of your speaker suddenly.
