Oh golly, let's let the government decide what's good for us, that always works out well. I think Costa Mesa residents are mature enough to vote on what should and should not be built.
What a load of manure! This misrepresentation conveniently omits the fact that the State requires us to have an approved Housing Element - part of our General Plan - and that Measure Y, passed 6 years ago, is a roadblock to the completion of that document. Without that approval the city is subject to very significant penalties - fines of $100,000 per month, loss of eligibility for State grant funds and, worst of all, the loss of local control of ANY AND ALL development in our city. If Measure K fails to pass then "the builder's remedy" comes into play, in which builders can build what they want, where they want in our city without any local control over that process. As to this "vote of the people" nonsense... Measure Y has quashed all development in our city since it passed. No development means no votes.... that's a fact! VOTE YES ON MEASURE K... Insure Costa Mesa's future and retain local control.
This council has has an abysmal record, even worse when Foley was mayor. Foley/Stephens caused The City of Costa Mesa $1.2 MILLION right down the crapper with atty. 4:34 fees and settlements, while we lost an excellent chief. Don’t trust the Reynolds, Mart, Stephens and Foley cabal.
