Spearfishing Miami

In my area Cape Coral, Sanibel you have to worry about the Bull Sharks, they tend to be more aggressive than the G white ones, plus our water tends to be a bit murky thanks to lake Okeechobee. So when you see them they are about 10-15 feet from you...

THE LAST ONE IS HUGE

The Barracuda we get in the Tropics, Australian and the South Pacific are very aggressive, Are these barracudas not aggressive in North/east pacific? You would not see too many people in Australia shooting barras well. and they are considered to be really bad eating. but more of a game fish because they fight so hard and well.

I would worry about ciguatera with those 'cudas. I don't want my last words to be, "wow, 'cudas taste great!"

Dario, great vid even with the poor mid-water vis. Do you eat those big 'cudas (you are a real Cuda-killer!)? Not afraid of ciguatera in those bigger ones? I am 70 years old and don't have the breathe holding anymore and switched to tanks a few years ago. Ran spearfishing tourneys in Panama City, FL for years and we used tanks back then because of the depth of the Northern GoM. If you have never shot up there, give it a try sometime and be SURPRISED. The area still holds large grouper, great snappers and some enormous A/Js (and everyone eats the A/Js there because there is very few fish that transmit the ciguatera and they are delicious on the grill).

I'm not that into hunting, you could say I'm a hippie MF who cares about animals.... But theres something about spearfishing that fascinates me like no other hunting, maybe its that we feel like we're flying hunting underwater, the beautiful scenery, or the fact that you have to get nice and close and theres open water all around you and that constant excitement or not knowing whats lurking in the waters with you. Spearfishing is great, being in Ohio sucks :/

you can make fun of me using tanks ANYTIME you want to because you are a real freediver, unlike some of the big mouths who condemn the tankers and then go down and shoot dinks or use floats to get decent sized fish to the surface. I grew up in Miami freediving but I am 69 years old now and can't make it down to the decent fish. Thanks for a GREAT video. I commend you!
