Great video man, soon as i get a job which is soon I'm gonna be saving up for some gear to try spearfishing out. And when u name the fish that you shoot it helps me a lot to learn what fish to get and not.

In a trip such as this, with the fine equipment they displayed... And they performed sooo poorly... I would like to see them trying to catch anything under more fished waters, sporting less snobbish gear and with no boat at all... dave chandler this video is not about professional spearfishing (which btw is illegal in Oz), it's about a great week-end spent outdoor doing what we love with friends. We are amateurs indeed and we were still very happy with these fish considering we were only kayak diving ;-)
Most of the fish they took aren't reef cleaners. The parrotfish were sad, they do clean reefs of algae and are vital to reef health. But they're Least Concern on the endangered species scale. So it's probably not a big issue, they're not bagging a bunch to sell. Some of those fish are known carriers of ciguatera poison, like the Spanish mackerel and coral grouper, so I think maybe they aren't too informed or concerned with Australia's warning on that toxin.
