A lot of this video reminds me of living in Costa Rica. I used to help push the boats up and down the beach so we could go catch fish. And the kitchen scene could have been filmed in Central America, it looks the same as 1000 I've seen, down to the style of fire and gas stove. I miss like that.

I can completely relate to not being as satisfied with smaller fish. I recently caught a my first tuna which is my profile picture. It’s a 55lb yellowfin tuna. Now, whenever I go fishing for smaller fish, it just isn’t as fun knowing there are bigger fish out there.

don't be so hard on yourself! It's super cool that you give those fishermen so many delicious fish. Especially if you are spearing them with the fishermen in mind.

It's great how honest you are. I'm only a recent hunter but I've met others who are just like you. Sometimes you just want to feel the same thrill as before . You do it in a very healthy way though, unlike many other people whether they go for adrenaline sports, hunt/fish ect.

a few years ago my older cousin visited Indonesia right and 4 of his budies went along with him, anyways they saw a goliath grouper near their boat and so on of his friends had the bright idea of throwing some fish they had caught and HE DIDNT EVEN TRHOW IT HE JUST DROPPED IT AND THE GOLIATH LITERALLY CAME TO THEIR BOAT AND THEN THEY LITERALLY STABBED A HARPOON AND A KNIFE THROUGH ITS HEAD WHICH KILLED IT, anyways they said the goliath was about 450 pounds and they said that goliath grouper tastes like shit, (they were obviously exaggerating on the taste but goliath grouper doesn't taste as good as you would hope or so they said)

Great vid. When the fish comes out the other side of a hole/rock with the spear in it, do you ever pull the fish out from the side it's on an detach (e.g. cut) the line from the shaft? Usually easier than trying to pull it all the way back through.

I often hear of over fishing and barren seas but then i see all these fishing/spearfishing/exploration underwater youtube videos and it always appears they are in areas with great fishing. As a traveling fisherman do you see areas in your scouting devoid of marine life? I never get to travel anymore...kids you know.

As long as you are doing this at a sustainable level and none of the food is being wasted, you don’t have to justify this, it’s an active hobby that feeds locals

Spanish Macks are pretty nuts. They'll bite everything that flashes when they've decided it's time to eat and hit like tiny trucks. I caught a roughly 15 inch one on a friggin Sabiki rig one time. Called out to clear the deck and flung the thing up on the deck of the fishing pier. People were shocked I was able to land it and I'm pretty sure we all were a bit freaked out about me flinging a more than 2 foot long string of more than half a dozen tiny hooks up on the pier, but it all worked out. Needless to say, I put the Sabiki pole down (4ft 6inch ultralight btw) and picked up the setup with my go to Mack spoon.
