He is right though. The world is interesting and the story could be good but the pacing is so bad even in the manga and the characters are just not it.
the thing is with one piece is that if it had been a bit less than half of its length of what it is now it would be regarded as one of the best ficitonal stories ever written probably like the story is not even finished and its been 25 years in the making with no stops or breaks, how do you even pull out something for that long for real

I'm here to see if someone tries to defend spear's take on one piece. Binging that sht is the most mind numbing shit ever, the world building is actually good but i swear to god the fillers, the corny jokes, the flashback every episode, the cutting to running scenes every time a fight gets exciting, the 10 second pauses to someone's face just to show their reactions or emotions are sooooo unbearable.
Im not a one piece fan or anything but why would you want to binge watch a 1000+ episode series, you can take it easy (or watch the summary movies if you are in a hurry)
@@tomastipo7250 im not literally trying to watch the whole thing in one sitting, but every time i try to watch it I'd get about 20 episodes for every sitting cuz I'd be fast forwarding that sht cuz some scenes are just plain boring and don't add to the narrative, I'd also don't bother watching the fillers
@@Zerofg1 I get the criticism and this is not to contest any of the points you make, its just that I find spending multiple hours a day on watching a show that is divided in 20 minute episodes as a bad way to consume that media, ultimately the fatigue one gets from that kind of experience sucks out the joy one may get by watching the show since wasnt intended to be consumed that way (like eating a whole snack package as lunch). Honestly watch the summary movies/specials if you arent that far into the show or drop it if you arent enjoying it, ennies lobby is the peak and no amount of future big reveals will bring you excitement if you find it that mind numbing
I mean one piece is good, but it has some problems liek the length, it's in japanese time so one fight is 20 chapters instead of 2, and japanese comedy which can get stupid really quick But in terms of world, characters, and specially foreshadowing, it can get really cathing. Hopefully with this new summarized movies the can get it more accessible to the western non anime watcher, or modern lazy anime watchers that can not follow a show if it is not packaged in 10 seasons of 12 ep each to build hype But yeah, different show for different audience, OP is a 1999 japanese show for japanese people in japanese lenght, if you get invested its good. And Avatar, a western masterpiece in western format, with wester humor and western lenght pretty much
I did invest 900 ep worth of hours into this, it is not worth it absolutely not, zoro getting lost, usopp being a lil bitch but can fight when facing luffy, robin BEING ABSOLUTELY USELESS while having an op fruit! i honestly agree with everything he said about mid piece, idk how ppl find it interesting in the slightest not even the main char is interesting, hes goofy and his powers are lame but also the design of the characters and the story is mid af too
