Good review. I am looking to purchase a bike. I have a big dilemma, Springfield or Challenger. I really like the looks of the Springfield - and the features on the Challenger. - have ridden both and would be happy with either one - but which one??

Terrific question! In full transparency for those who don’t know, I own a Springfield and absolutely love it! I love it for what it is and know also what it isn’t. It handles beautifully and looks classic. It has less tech than the Challenger, which is overcome with Cardo (or Sena and a Rokform or similar phone mount for Navigation. The Challenger has more horsepower and is overall more powerful, has the fairing with the power windshield. Those are nice features to have, but the question is, do they matter to YOU? I can say for me, I won’t trade my Springfield. If I get a Challenger, Pursuit or another bike, I’d use it primarily for touring as my Springfield is just a lot of fun for the twisties. But what a fun dilemma! LOL

Thanks for the response man! Does the Pursuit show any bracket or look like something's missing without the box? Gonna be pulling the trigger soon one of these beasts...

You can get the Indian Rack and back pad. I have a Springfield and a pursuit. The rack can be shared between both, although I’ve not yet done it myself.

Great review....i keep getting tested on my loyalty to my Springfield every time i watch a video of a different Indian. Thats nature I guess.

I’m with you there! I’m coming to the conclusion that I will always love my Springfield. A challenger brings some tech and more stock power but if given the choice, I’ll choose BOTH!

Nice review. Ive been on the search for a bagger, cruiser, touring sort of bike. I've narrowed down to a '23-24 Goldwing or Challenger. Not interested in having a top box, just bags. Which of the 2 do you feel is more relaxed and comfortable to ride? I'll be doing mostly local rides to 100-200 mile rides. I currently ride an MT-10 which I'm keeping but want a 2nd bike for a more relaxing ride. As someone whose ridden both, what are your thoughts?

The bags are far bigger and more useful on the challenger. The Goldwing is a smooth ride but it has a telescopic suspension that takes some feel away from steering in the front. Not bad at all but something I noticed. The tech is a bit more updated on the challenger. But the Honda is solid. For me, I looked at both very hard but came down to wanting more storage. So I went Pursuit. So I can remove the top box if I want and a challenger it becomes. It is an amazing machine

I have a 2023 Pursuit Limited Premium and it came with the passenger floorboards. I priced out a Challenger Limited and it cost a lot more adding accessories. So if you want a Challenger get a Pursuit and take off the trunk and use it when you need it.

Sounds like good advice. Thanks for that

I would imagine the Challanger has less of a heat on the legs issue than the Springfield. I love my Springfield and I usually don't ride in 90+ heat anyway. Of course that heat works for me in early Spring and late Fall riding. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down!

I can’t complain too loudly about the heat from my Springfield. It’s not intolerable at all. And I knew it when I bought it. The Challenger probably isn’t as hot, that’s true. But with some airflow, it all goes away anyway! -like you, I ride in colder temps and the heat works in my favor! Thanks for chiming in! Be safe out there!

Very good review. Comparing it to the Honda Goldwing is a little unfair Honda does make one with no trunk and it’s MUCH sportier but doesn’t have some of the niceties the Goldwing comes standard with. Cruise control for one. And while it’s one of the better touring bikes on the planet I’m not a fan AT ALL of the looks, 🥴! Would much rather be riding the Challenger. But, I still like my chrome, 😎. And on my Ultra that I sold I had a VERY short windscreen. Just a little bigger than a blade. Looked much sportier but definitely could feel much more wind. But, with my solo setup it looked much better. Again, love all your videos, 😁. Keep ‘em coming.

I’m glad you enjoyed the review! For a better comparison, I would have tested the Goldwing “B” - the bagger version without the trunk. The comparison is made due to similar costs of those models. The Goldwing tour was available for a test ride so at least I could really consider the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). - I’m getting very picky now about what I need for longer distance riding. Quieter performance ranks higher than if I were just spending a few minutes kicking around town. So buffeting from the windscreen is something I look at closely. The good news is that they can be purchased aftermarket! Another is the exhaust. Both models are good sounding bikes. The Goldwing sound is --different. Back to back it was enlightening. I’ll try to get that one posted before long! All the best!

I just crossed 8k on my pursuit. The top of the lowers has a spot you can choose to leave empty, add speakers or another storage cubby but they are add ons. I am looking at the freedom shield because i also get buffeting. That power plus really wakes up over 3.5k rpm, most people shift it like it's a Harley and that's just not as fun. Pretty much issue free except mine had a broken kickstand sensor that was replaced without issue.

Glad you make the point about the added (optional) cubby. I hadn’t priced them so was unaware how they were marketed. I just bought a flared freedom shield for my Springfield. It hasn’t arrived yet but I’m crossing my fingers for a quieter ride! Thanks for watching and for the helpful comment!

@AnywhereRider the cubbies aren't too expensive but they are proud of those speakers lol

I did notice the higher RPM signature of the Power Plus in my Pursuit review. It stronger up there than expected. That’s where it starts to separate from the Thunderstroke. Very different motors but but have great torque. The Power Plus just has something more, especially at highway speeds! 70mph plus!

I didn’t know about the speakers at all. Indian is proud of most of their equipment. Typically it’s good stuff, but yeah, ya gotta pay! Lol

@AnywhereRider stage 1 adds a little mot than I expected too. Just checked the cubby for the lowers is 200 for a pair
