Part 13: • Special Ed on His Frie...
--------
In an interview with Vlad, rapper Special Ed discussed the challenging period of hip-hop in the mid-90s. After a five year gap following his second album, the music scene had transformed with trends and artist popularity shifting regionally. This constant shift added complexity to the industry at that time. Ed also touched upon the East Coast-West Coast rivalry that grew during that period, largely led by music and media agencies. He recalled an incident at the Source Awards that highlighted the unprofessionalism exacerbating these tensions, describing a mix up with 2Pac's stage entrance. Ed lamented over the impact of sensationalist media stoking these artist quarrels, comparing it to modern-day clickbait.

Special Ed told the story exactly how it happened. 2pac didn't snatch the mic from Q Tip. Tribe were accepting an award & then 2pac got a false cue to get on stage & start performing. There was a lack of cohesion with the producers that were in charge of certain segments in the show. This has BEEN the correct story (how 2pac told it HIMSELF & other valid sources that were close to the situation had told it but Vlad would rather recount the situation through a salacious & divisive lens rather then hear the true accurate story on how shit really went down.

pac going out at the wrong time because of someone telling him the wrong time is very possible. youd think at a event like that it would be more organized but depends whose running it. other stories said pac just walked in gave the sound guy his tape and said play this and went out on stage. but ive done around 100 shows and theyll rearrange the schedule alot and not tell anyone. or doors will be opening and they still wont have the times yet. or theyll psot the times on a sheet of paper and hang it up and not tell anyone. theres alot of people behind the scenes who dont know wtf they are doing and dont care
