I now ride a yamaha sport bike. I started on a 1200 sportster. The only bikes I ever saw broke down on the shoulder were harleys. My own harley broke down once or twice, and I'm quite the gear head so I was always on top of maintenance. My yamaha has been problem-free. the fuel injection makes it run real smoothly, the electronics are superb, the ride quality is great. The sportster i had shook and rattled and was far from smooth. But I still miss that sportster. Harleys aren't really the greatest in terms of reliability, but as for character, and class, and soul, I really can't think of any other manufacturer that does it quite like harley davidson. I'm getting another japanese bike soon, but I definitely have my sights on another harley in my future!
