Honestly I love the Allez Sprint. For new racers on a budget I would suggest it so often and in all honesty had some really good results. My teammate kicked my butt in crits on one of them! I now just wish I had done an ep on a frameset before I left the shop for grad school!

i became more confident to ride aggressively in crit races after switching to Allez Sprint from Trek Madone. Result has improved as well. Not afraid to wreck your bike in a crash does improve your riding mentality based on my experience. Only thing i hate is the bottom bracket lol

I was thinking on of, but being unable to ride it prior, worried about comfort in the saddle for an less than flexible cyclist. I”m 5’10 32” inseam, I'm guessing the 56 would be a bit less aggressive/comfortable vs the 54? I have a fair amount of hills around and use is commuting and 4-5 hour training rides mostly.

How rough of a ride? I currently ride an aluminum trek 1500slr. Doesn’t seem to bother me, I ride 25mm on it.

None of the major shops here in the UK have ever had them in stock (last 3 years) And if you go to a Specialized shop they cant tell you why. I'm sad.

I've never worried about welds. Just ride the thing hard like it was meant be ridden. It brings back memories of my Specialized M4 from 1999. Want to look at pretty welds? Go look at retro euro steel bikes.

I own two different redhook versions of these, best I did built into 6.7kg range with zipp404, one thing I dont like generally about this gen of specialized is the q factor of the crank is really on the narrow side, the lower setup one I have used a pf30 force crankset with increased q factor and it is significantly better then the S work powermeter feel. Other than that, due to the REALLY OUTSTANDING paint scheme of the two I have, its full of proud to show up in any group with these two bikes, every body wants them, they look at it, ride around it and take pics around it. Gets way bigger attention than any high end bikes.

Just bought this bike for only $1k drove to another state for it but worth it. Came with Boyd Carbon Wheels on the bike, and a set of Fulcrum 3 Race wheels. This thing is a beauty of a frame too my god.

Great bike build, though the flat Florida gearing would be useless in Southern California where we have both flat and mountains.

I’m looking to buy a wheel upgrade for my Giant TCR advanced sl with SLR climbing carbon clinchers(30 mm). Should I sell my old wheels any get 303 firecrest or keep the wheels and buy 404s? Am I wrong in thinking I should have a second set of wheels if I get mid section wheels? In 2021 are mid section wheels like zipp 404s terrible to ride on hills and wind? Thanks

Speaking of aluminum, I just built up a 2021 Trek Emonda ALR with rim brakes - I'd put it up against the Specialized any day. People think they need to shell out 12-14 grand on the latest carbon fiber wondermachine, but aluminum has come a long way. I transferred most of my components over from my previous road bike (a steel Fairdale Goodship) that recently met its' demise (metal guardrail at 24 mph): 11 speed SRAM eTap, Enve road stem, Ritchey WCS Streem aero bars, Easton aluminum wheels/Sapim CX-Ray/DT Swiss 240's, Thomson Masterpiece post, Look carbon ceramic Ti pedals, etc. Weighs in at 15.5 lbs, but will be at 15 lbs once my new wheels come in. I could knock off at least another 1/2 lb if I swapped out my bars, seat and brakes for something lighter, but not worth the expense other than to say I have a 14 1/2 lb bike. My Trek handles extremely well (probably the best handling bike I've owned; I've been riding road bikes since the late 1980's), sprints and climbs like a champ, surprisingly comfortable for an aluminum bike (I've already done the inaugural century on it, and it was as good as the steel bike it replaced), has that road feel that only aluminum bikes have which I really like, and seems to be slippery enough for a non-aero bike. Can't really beat it for the $1,000 frame/fork price.

What is your height and what size did you go for? None of the Specialized ADs in my area have it in stock, so I can’t test it. I’m 6’ 1” (185cm) and I’m stuck between the 56 and 58.

the welds are ugly. why can't they smooth them out.

The key here is RIM BRAKES. Such a clean, fast look. Also, i've never owned a Specialized (been riding 16 years, tons of road bikes) ... but i will say Specialized consistently puts out fantastic paint schemes. White frame with chrome accents and chrome fork? Genius.

Build? You might say "assembly". Build implies a custom built frame

Love these bikes, there's a reason they are common at any race. One thing: there's no way in hell he bought that build in for $4k unless he already had some parts or bought them used. Those wheels are $2,200, the frame is $1,250, the DA ran at least $1,500. Add the crank, saddle, seatpost, stem, bars, pedals, tape, cables, tires, tax this is at least $6.5k worth of bike at retail. Still a good deal, but not $4k good.

In raw alloy or chrome, with high profile wheels, she would like an Air Racer or a WW2 fighter plane.
