After a year of riding the 2020 #Specialized #Epic #Hardtail, I am convinced that it is the best-priced and most versatile #carbon hardtail on the market. Spec the bike toward trail riding, spec it toward endurance like Lael Wilcox, or leave it as is; you won't be disappointed.

Hi Alex, am looking buy one of these and I’m just wondering if it is capable on teck and jumps/drops? If I get it then it will have to be as I will use it for xc and enduro!

04:39, “one of the lightest hardtail carbon frames one the market”, when you make a claim you should specify the actual weight of the frame. My canyon exceed cf slx 9.9 frame weighs just 870 grams, how much does this frame weigh? I have the chance to buy this bike on the second hand market as a secondary bike so I am trying to figure out it’s potential.

Well, I'd love to give a number, but I never fully disassembled the bike to check. I would look online and see if you can find the answer as it will also be specific to your size. I'd say it should be close to your canyon.

Been looking for a HT, the epic seems like an ok option for XC and gravel riding, but there are better spec:ed alternatives at a similar price level. Generally, specialized does not seem to be that good value buy. The new Cannondale Scalpel HT looks like a better alternative

I agree specialized is typically a little over priced, but this frame is incredible. I will admit the parts are a little low-speced for the price, but again you cannot beat the frame price and lifetime warranty.

The Scapel HT is surely also a cool bike, what I dislike though is that they’re still using pressfit bb !

Wondering if this would make a good gravel bike for Florida or if the suspension an over kill and unnecessary weight. I can’t do drop bars and would like a proper flat bar gravel bike preferably carbon fiber

If there are no rocks in Florida and it is mostly rolling singletrack I think you could ride this bike with flat bars and a rigid fork. As long as you have big tubeless tires they really absorb a lot of the chatter.

It is massive. It completely changes the bike and I find it strange they even call them both 'epic.'

Hello - this is the base model. I do not have the bike anymore. I recommend checking 99spokes for the weight.

The rider is what makes the bike fastest 😁 Epic is lighter and specialized dedicated XC race bike so I'd say it is definitely the faster of the two options at the pro level.
